The New UB Tourney Schedule

So the new changes are out, here are the differences in the evening schedule that I can see;

Added:

5:30pm - $44 Double Stack (3k chips)

7:00pm - $33 Double Stack (3k chips)

7:40pm - $130 Double Stack, $20k guarantee (5k chips)

8:00pm - $10 Sniper with $10k guarantee ($5 is bounty, $5 is prizepool)

9:00pm - $109 Sniper with $40k prizepool ($10 is bounty), $1 turbo rebuy with $5k guarantee

9:15pm - $15 Double Stack (3k chips)

10:00pm - $30 rebuy with $25k prizepool

11pm - $5 turbo rebuy with $10 guarantee, $30 6 seat tourney

Midnight - $60 sniper with $10k guarantee

Removed (off the the top of my head) from approx same time period

a $20 guarantee, a $12 bounty, a $5r with guarantee, the $35 $7k guarantee, the $129 bounty, the 9pm $11 bounty with $4500 guarantee, the $3r, the $109 $9k guarantee and the two $25 guaranteed boutny tourneys, one at 10:30pm other at midnight, and another $5r guarantee.

Overall I'm kinda meh about the whole thing.  You've just kind of shuffled things round, and probably taken out more than you've put in.  I mean i like UB and i've played like 1500 tourneys there, but this new schedule doesn't really do a lot for me.

-  I really like the double stacks, esp the mid stakes one but there are no guarantees on them, so what kind of fields would you get??  100-200 max imo.  Maybe the plan is to give them a couple of weeks to see what the fields are like and then whack guarantees on, but who knows.  Those first two ($30 and $40) are too early for me to play anyway so i won't be in those.  And there's only one double stack ($15) after 8pm which is when a lot of people play - doesn't make much sense to me.

- I think running millions of satellites is good, but would be nice to have option to views tourneys WITHOUT seeing the satelittes, as they take up so much space.

- the rebuys just suck.  There is not a non turbo rebuy under $30 that I can see in this evening schedule (maybe i could see better without those satelittes everywhere).  There was a $3r and two $5r tourneys (although with sucky guarantees) before these changes and now there's nothing.  What's the point of playing a rebuy to get more chips and use your skill edge if you go and make the thing a turbo with 5 minute levels??  Would've been great to see the $5r $10k be non turbo and a $10 rebuy in there as well.  What about a couple of 1 rebuy 1 add on tourneys??

- There's 2 big tourneys, the $10 and $100 sniper ones with good guarantees to obv get players in the door and i think a lot of people will like those, but beyond that there's really not too much to interest me.  I will buy in to probably both of those and anything in between - but there is nothing!!  It looks like Annie has gone, ok $40k guarantee $100 tourney and increased $30 rebuy guarantee for high stakes player, a big $10 guarantee and 2 stupid turbo rebuys for the lower buy in players and there is not much though beyond those.  Don't get me wrong, those tourneys (apart from stupid turbo rebuys) are great, but a 'schedule' is supposed to cater to a range of buy ins at a range of times, not rely on 2-3 big tourneys and not much else.  The cynical side of me thinks those big guarantees will never be met and after a few weeks they will just be dropped down.

Personnally, I will now be playing less tourneys and spending less money on the site, so not sure how great this schedule is.

Oh, and on the website the tourney schedule shows both the new AND the old schedule combined, plus is showing some tourneys twice.  It's retarded stuff like this that UB can't even get right that makes people wonder why they play there.

I don't mean to be a negative prick, but there's just not a lot there to get excited about.  Although I like Annie, I have to agree with brsavage that a high stakes live player does not appear to know what sort of schedule online tourney players want - at any stakes.

well put br i used to play $10-$30 tourneys all day on UB then they disapeared

or lost the guarantees and traffic dropped.   Stopped playing online for 8 mos. for the

most part then they got em back...   now???

Guess we gotta wait and see.

The changes from 12am - 3am are pretty bad IMO. The old 1am 1500 guaranteed normally got around 300 players. With no guarantees on any of the new mtts from 12-3am I highly doubt any of them will reach even 100 players. Would it be unreasonable to stick some crappy guarantee onto the new 1:20am 10$+1? Like even just putting a 1k guarantee on it or something.

I would define my level of play as mid stakes and yet I rarely if ever play above $30. The exception might be the $5 rebuy but even with that im in around $25-$40 tops. (or out for that matter)

In regards to Jester and Mupp there are a lot of tournies throughout the day in 'our' range. Here I just a few i saw

1:00 pm $15 (no guarantee)
2:00 pm $5 (no guarantee)
2:00 pm $30 (9k Guarantee)
2:20 pm $10 (rebuy 3k guarantee) <---ya this one doesnt fit but oh well
3:00 pm $6 (sniper thingy with 6k guarantee)
4:00 pm $10 (no guarantee)
4:00 pm $30 deepstack (no guarantee)
8:00 pm $10 (10k guarantee)
9:00 $1 tur rebuy (5k guartantee)
11:00 pm $5:00 (rebuy 10k guarantee)
12:00 $65 (10k bounty) also doesnt fit 'our' mid stake range but it looks nice

There are certainly a few tournies worthwhile in there. I think feeding into the 40K bounty is worthwhile as well. Having a guarantee tourney for a $6 or $10 tourney that is over a 1k guarantee on ub is pretty huge i feel.

I dont love the new schedule but i think its a step in the right direction.

that 1:00 am $6 bounty was very popular.

Annie, thanks for taking the time to respond.  I have talked to players at various tables and there is some excitement about the new schedule, but also a few doubts, similar to the ones posted in here.  I would like to make some suggestions, regarding the 'mid-stakes' schedule, as this is what i have played the most over the years, and the level that i have discussed with the players at tables. (as we were obv playing mid stakes tables)

If we look at the schedule below, take out the $100's and the $1 rebuy then what is left is for a broad definition of 'midstakes'.  I have also taken out the $30 rebuy, as buy in for the min would cost $150 (double rebuy double add on).  If you can't afford to rebuy and add on and bust 1-2 times during rebuy period then you are not properly rolled for the tournament - this is DEF a high stakes tourney, not mid stakes.

Here would be my suggestions to improve this schedule:

1 - Add guarantees to the 3 double stack tourneys ($40, $30 and $15).  Not necessarily 1k player guarantees, but say 300 people for the first 2 and 400 or 500 for the $15.  That means $12k, $9k and say $7-8k respectively.

2 - Make the $5, $10k rebuy a NON TURBO.  Move this back to 8:00pm-10pm slot somewhere to get it finished at a reasonable hour, as I agree with your concerns regarding this.  This will also help you meet this guarantee at an hour too.

3 - Add something in around 10-10:30pm as that time of night is pretty empty for mid-stakes, and will help fill the gap the $5r left..  Maybe bring the $3r back and up the guarantee to $6k or something (this is what it was this time last year anyway)?  Maybe put in a $10 + 1r + 1a tourney for something different and fun for the UB players?  These tourneys are very popular on Full Tilt and Pokerstars these days. so 1500 chips for each rebuy and 3k for add on.

Here is what it would look like (I have bolded the changes):

5:30pm - $44 Double Stack (3k chips) - $12k guaranteed

7:00pm - $33 Double Stack (3k chips) - $9k guaranteed

8:00pm - $10 Sniper with $10k guarantee ($5 is bounty, $5 is prizepool)

8:30pm - $5 rebuy with $10k guarantee (NON TURBO)

9:15pm - $15 Double Stack (3k chips) - $8k guarantee

10:00pm - $10 + 1 rebuy + 1 add on tourney - maybe a $7k guarantee?  Otherwise bring the $3r back in this spot with like a $6k guarantee

11pm - $30 6 seat tourney

Midnight - $60 sniper with $10k guarantee

I mean it's only a couple of changes, but to me that looks like a much better schedule for the midstakes players, with something to suit everyone.  Maybe not all of these changes are possible, but any of them (esp making $5r non turbo and making it earlier) would be a big help.

There are no good tourneys for the midstakes player who works during the day.  I would probably redeposit if UB added a 9 or 10pm $20 or $30 double stacked 10k guaranteed freezeout

I could play the 8pm on that schedule.  That leaves me one tourney a day I could play.

Thank you for the well thought out and reasonable suggestions.  More of this is what I need. I am passing this post around to my team and we will consider the suggestions.  The one thing I have to ask is patience.  I need to show that the guarantees we have in our doing what they are supposed to be doing and then I can start building on that.  I am not saying that I will not implement any of these suggestions until that happens.  As you can see I have already changed around a few things based on what has been said here. I just need to balance the existing schedule and guarantees with the suggestions I see here to try to make everyone happy...including my bosses!

Remember that there are lots of events in this price range that are not guaranteed and the guarantees that were there before were not overlaying. So I am hoping you guys will support the changes and play these events anyway since in reality, the guarantee was an illusiong before anyway.

Thanks!

Annie

Annie nice to see you are responding to the may suggestions and am also pleased that you are going to try and implement of them. I actually just downloaded UB the other day after all the discussion about the site on this forum, and I will be depositing and playing at some point this week.

GL with this and keep listening to members here at P5's

FWIW: I use to love UB but haven't played there in well over a year b/c of the lack of tourneys.  Much like several other posters in this thread, I am a working, mid-stakes tourney player who usually starts playing around 6 and reg's for my last tourney at 8:30 or so on the nights I play.  With that said, if mathclub's schedule suggestions were implemented I would be depositing on UB and playing the $44, $33, and $5r along w/ a few sats as well (I actually like the idea of more short stack sats) each night that I play.  Just one mid-stakes players point of you supporting mathclub's suggestions.

Annie,

I agree with Mathclub....great schedule idea...would be willing to pull off PartyPoker to UB if we can get more $10-$30 G'teed tournies....

Thanks for trying...Keep it up....

Mathclub hit it right on the head add on some gurantees to those deep stacks. Throw a gurantee on a $10 1r 1a (this would be sick because during the night time i don't think across any site ftp stars, there is one of these). These types of things take time, grind it out annie you will figure it out. Looking for input in here is definitely a good place to start. Annie showing up on these boards obviously means she cares about what she is doing and hopefully in time will produce a great schedule.

well im just getting into my first game on the new schedule and i realized something that i thought i should post bc in a way it pertains to the 8b part of this thread, although it pertains to all the rebuys really. the rebuy system is a little different now so im not sure how the avg x entry will end up its usually about 3.5 x entry on avg (adding entries rebuys and addons). no more double rebuys or addons i dont think. anyway for the 8b game we were discussing before (50 dollar nightly) the satelites would be better set at 5 dollar rebuy (i think i had mentioned 3 before) because of the new rebuy system. this is because over time ive noticed how a big majority of players tend to like double rebuying as well as double addon especially at the lower satelites (under 10). there will be 1/2 as many addons and a little less rebuys so the entry should be $5 and the overall ratio to seats given will remain as it has been for the 8b. (which is a good thing usually about 1-4 to 1-5 we like that)

ok i justplayed a game and there is double rebuys and addons at the moment but in the lobby it doesnt mention doubles anymore. im not sure if they want to remove the double rebuy/addon or if they just need to change the text in the tourney lobbies. ok i guess itll take a few days to smooth things out.

Snipers=good guarantees=good  sats for snipers=joke  who is the one who decided

that players like UT sats??????? and then rub a little salt in the wound by making them short stack and SUPER short stack. Oh my god. Has nothing been learned

from the popularity of the deep stack tourneys that are being offered at the

Venetian????????   (popular, huge fields=people like more play not less)   I have been playing UB 5 yrs and like to sat into events but i learned long ago that UT=

crapshoot not poker. and short stack compounds that even more.

The best deal you had were the 3-10  (+25 on thurs.fri. and sat.) seat guaranteed

sats to 200k.  I see all of these little coinflip sats and my stomach turns.  I sincerely

hope u will address the issues i have stated here and on  page 4 of this post. I will be

playing some of the sniper tourneys w/their irresistable guarantees. but my frequent

sattelite play has come to a grinding halt until i see offerings which involve skill and

not just luck!!!!!!!!!
