i owe a lot to pocketfives and probably haven't given much back as of late so here goes. for those unaware i will steal mig's explanation, originally stolen from assasinato:

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Tuesday, you can shout any question down that well and you'll be told the answer." The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down, "Why not on Tuesday?" A voice from in the well shouts back, "Because on Tuesday, it's your day in the well."

So yeah, essentially, in this thread, I'll answer any question you have about playing professionally, the game, myself, or any random question you have that might not even to do with poker.

i will try to be as honest as possible and not sugar coat stuff. okay ask away bros

Hey Gboro, you've always been tough to play against and i respect your game a lot.

thanks sampson, the respect is mutual.

Just got one question for you. Do you smoke when you play?

always.

Another New Jerseyan in the house! Two questions:
1. Ever think about moving into the city?

definitely. most of my friends are living in hoboken now working finance. when my lease is up in afew months im either gonna move there or go to california with poker friends.

2. Eva Mendes or Rosario Dawson?

eva
1) considering that move myself, what part of CA and why? Have friends in Socal but heard the games are better further north... 2) no contest, eva obv.

we were looking at a house in hermosa beach but i have no idea why

ricardogcl:

what do u think is more optimal these days: playing lag or tag?

i know this is a gay answer but somewhere in between the two.

who do u think is the best brazilian mtt player?

maridu

what are your opinions, if any, about Brazilians players?

most of them seem overaggressive and spewy but some are good.

Hixx:

have you ever had a steak well done with ketchup?

haaaa. prety sure me and my brother made this joke every dinner this pca. and wasn't it a filet? shameful hixx.

Hey Gboro I just pokerdb'd u and its says your up over 1.45 million I knew you were awesome i didn't know you were up top 3 most ever tho so congrats on being a sicko.

thanks although that numbers not entirely accurate cause i spend way more on rebuys.

my question is what motivates you to be the best and what enables you to play at a high level day in and day out beyond just playing for money?

i probably said this earlier but i hate when i make mistakes or feel like i blew a big opporutnity so that helps me play well regardless of the money.

1.) stuntin - would u say its habitual or just a recreational thing?

i'd say its a habit

2.) How awesome is Burt Reynolds at teaching live tells?

he's like almost as good at poker as that bellagio bartender.

3.) On the same topic of Burt Reynolds, who is more whithered BR or the Devilfish? Who would u say is the whitherest of all time?

pretty sure devilfish wins both

4.) What is up with ur creepy obsession with old people?

well i thought people would fold to them more but rahme is just cute as hell

5.) How are you so insanely consistent? What seperates you from the other top players? Hand reading, tilt control, bong hits?

bong hits and diet mountain dew

6.) If you could would u change ur name to Gary?

i'm legally changing it to gerald.

7.) How could you possibly think that Lost season 3 is good?

yeah the first few seasons they were just doing nothing and chilling on the island and that was 10x better but i still think its watchable.

Ever feel like not playing?

What do you do when that happens?

this happens to me on sundays sometimes where i start to feel like i'd rather be somewhere else. i just unregister from the later ones and try to ride out the ones i'm in.

ps i might be willing to go to the grave that the flop at borgata was q98 : )
It is funny bc we both talked about this hand to kenny following. I am almost positive the board was 910q all diamonds. I remember you called quickly so I was just hoping you didn't have KJ... sick hand either way

Hi goboro.

You know, I am small time player trying to improve in tournaments, I wonder. In 100r and 200r how many Rebuys do you make if you have no chips, what's the rebuys like when the best online players plays the high level rebuy tournaments.

I know Daniel Negreanu made like 50+ rebuys in a WSOP event. How many is the norm for the top 10-20 players in online poker??..

This is my only question.

Also your nick reminds me of Marlboro, is this an intended tactic ;)

Gl for future big scores!

big fan of you here btw,

What advice could u give to a low stakes player trying to break through in regards to the play at the low limits where the risk/reward barrier is very high?  Is it better to build up a roll playing SNG and play bigger MTT or stick to the smaller MTT and hope to eventually bink a decent score

i'd say get good at the small mtts before you start playing the big ones.

Who is a bigger wimp when it comes to doing pushups and sit ups? you or ajkhoosier?

probably me but im happy to have contributed to the junior bogdanski college fund.

Do you blame me for people thinking your name is Gary?

lol in part

How much money would you say dean has hussled Ajkhoosier for in various wii games?

2k

Explain the hockey business you use to run? I read about it in a newspaper one time but never asked you about.

i used to love the fights in the hockey games and found out there were people making and collecting fight videos so i got involved in that and was selling tapes on ebay during high school. i sitll have a closet full of tapes and some game worn jersesy and gloves in stuff at my parents house.

Do you miss Larry?

soso much, and his helper and konstantine too. in all seriousness though i miss the movie room a lot.

If you were forced to give up either sports or poker completely, which would it be?  (By give up I mean you can't play, watch, follow pros careers, or have anything to do with)

what up alex. easily give up sports cause the other would affect my income lifestyle etc.

You mentioned you were unsure if you were ready to move to Vegas full time, any other places you are considering or would rather move to than Vegas?

answered this a bit before, i think hoboken if i stay by home and cali if i don't.

It seemed like you ran pretty shitty in big buyin tourneys online for the bulk of your career (not counting 100r) and then in the past year started doing much better.  Finally catching the better side of variance or improved play/focus/something else?

yeah i think a combination of things, better vision at the table now of whats going on around me, tightening up in some spots while getting more aggressive in others and of course running well.

You said you only like playing 4 tables at a time, does this go for sundays as well?  Do you ever take a sunday off during football season for a big Giants game or make sure to not play during the 3 hrs it's on?

sunday ill give in and play like 8 for most of the day cause i couldn't allow myself to miss so much good stuff. but it feels a lot more like work.

before this year i used to take almost all sundays off during football season but
this year i became more of a degen and only skipped one to go to the giants/baltimore game.

Let's say you are in the mid-lates stages of a tourney and it folds to you otb.  You have 22 bb's, and both players in the blinds cover you.  Do you think it is mandatory to have a plan for after your raise gets shoved on, or do you think it is ok to simply open with a decent-good hand and then see what happens?

i think you need to have a plan. but someitmes things will happen after i raise such as the villains betsize or timing that will remind me of past hands and change my decision.

Same situation as above but now you have 16 bb's and your hand is 44.  What's your standard line with 2 good regs in the blinds?  2 unknowns?  an unknown in the sb but good reg in the bb?

seems like a shove regardless of whos in the blinds.

What will happen first, the Knicks make the playoffs or I win a 100r?

you'll win 100r.

depends how stuffs been going but my defualt would be to raise 17-19k and call it off/get it in on most flops. but if you're really tight or he's really tight that might not be ideal.

This is probably the first 10+ page post on pocket fives since the "dana" incident that i've made it thru because ur one of the handful of guys that i know who are both great players and cool motherfuckers. I don't think i have a question. I just wanted to say congrats on everything.

thanks csty. how much do you miss vra?

andressoprano:

Is AJK's past night incident one of the top 3 most hilarious moments in online poker history?

Quick notes in case you haven't talked to him: Break time 320 FT, leaves apartment to have a smoke with roommate, gets locked out, no one opens the door, a stupid guy passes by, and decides not to let them in. Back after around 15 mins of blinding out.

he musta been flipping out. i had a nightmarish situation of my own yesterday where i lost connection with 30ish people left in the full tilt 150 and 100r. go to my neighbors to login, get onto stars but he's banned on full tilt. so when i try to login my account gets locked for assocation and i blind out.

Who do you miss more...Larry or his helper?

loll the helper was sick and told me the same story about his pool playing days everytime i saw him. did you see truesyalose post the other day saying to never deal with konstantine's company?

Do you regret gettin me high this summer in Vegas and watching me try to play poker?

maybe my proudest accomplishment

1. do you watch any poker vids like runners of xfactor?

i dont but i'm gonna start watching the cash stuff on card runners

2. have u been asked or are interested in doing some (i know a lot a of ppl would like to watch that)?

i said no to cr like 2 years ago.

3. Have u read poker books? which ones u consider to be the best, or the ones u learned the most from?

ordered harrington and sklanksy stuff with fpp's but never relaly read them.

4. Who the hell eats peanut butter and banana sandwiches??

its a must order when staying at borgata.

scarface_79:

gboro, just wanted to say congrats on all your success in poker and wish u even more success in the future. You are one of the few players whose game i truely respect. And u also seem like a standup guy away from the table, ive never ran accross anyone with anything negative to say about u.

thanks man and congrats on the live win.

oh, btw, were u as pissed as i was when that little kid capped omar?

sooo pissed. lets celebrate his greatness

Claw1980:
gboroooo, thanks for doing this sir. always been a fan obv.
do you think the game will improve as much in the next two years as it has in the last two years? Is it too close to peaking for that to happen?

i think theres been so much improvement inthe last 2 years that it would be tough to duplicate that in the next 2. but as much as people ahve imroved i think the game is growing way more now and in diferent markets so we'll be alright.

i saw you mention that the 100rb isn't as tough as its reputation, what percentage of people that play it on a non-sunday are -ev in it iyo?

not sure how to come up with a percentage really but for all the tables full of good regs you'll also find a bunch of donks who are only willing to spend 1 or 200. its still mighty beatable.

we've played a fair bit through the years so i guess i have to ask the selfish thoughts/leaks in my game?

can't really think of any specific hands we've played together, sorry for the lame o answers.

which ranked p5'er is most likely to win a bracelet this year? do you think ranked p5'ers will win more then one?

whookid. i think p5ers will win more than one but ranked p5ers will win 1 or less.
