i owe a lot to pocketfives and probably haven't given much back as of late so here goes. for those unaware i will steal mig's explanation, originally stolen from assasinato:

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Tuesday, you can shout any question down that well and you'll be told the answer." The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down, "Why not on Tuesday?" A voice from in the well shouts back, "Because on Tuesday, it's your day in the well."

So yeah, essentially, in this thread, I'll answer any question you have about playing professionally, the game, myself, or any random question you have that might not even to do with poker.

i will try to be as honest as possible and not sugar coat stuff. okay ask away bros

Is it possible to become a very good tourney player without having any other poker friends to discuss hands with...etc. just trough putting in lots of volume, watching training videos, and thinking aboout hands? How vital is it to have other good poker minds to talk with? How does one meet these poker friends if noone decent lives in ur area?

What are a few things outside of poker that u enjoy?

doubledave22:

edit: well first page... omg i have to write something good beecause alottt of ppl will read these first few ones. hmmmmmmmmm

1) I live in wenonah im sure u kno where that is... whens the last time uve been there? Also your honest opinion of south jersey and your favorite part about it (may include childhood stories etc)

actually never been to wenonah but i've heard of it. i'm from more up north jersey but went to school down here. honest opinion (dont hate me!) is that stuff is a lot slower down here, people are kinda dumber, service is worse etc, but ive also met a lot of good people from down here. i'd say the best part about living in south jersey is being close to a.c. and philly.

2) How do you percieve me as a player. I dont think we've logged any hands rly but if u saw me at a table would u have pointed out that im competent right away or do u not rly kno who i am?

i know who you are from the posts here but i don't think we've really played much. if we got seated at the same table i'd probably just perceive you as atight solid good player who's not gonna make too many mistakes but also probably not gonna get too out of line .

3) Last one: howd ya get started? anddd... Do you get nervous at final tables now?

same story as everyone it seems. played with friends in high school and got kinda good but didn't really think about the game at all until i put money online freshman yr of college and found sites like this one.

i don't really get nervous at final tables anymore. i expect a lot from myself at this point and honestly feel sick to my stomach when i blow big opportunities so i try to play my best when it gets deep and avoid that feeling.

Thanks for doing this man you are imo the best in the game currently.

Do you think you could make a solid living each year only playing the 100r on stars.  (by solid living I mean 60k+?

Worst downswing?

Biggest upswing?

Who's gonna win the superbowl?

What's your biggest blowup after busting deep? and do you ever spaz after busting deep?

Have you been offered any sponsorships?

Most beers in one sitting?

When you gonna move to Vegas?

If you had to UFC fight any top 10 p5s ranked player who would you challenge?

Akeshish:

Thanks for doing this.  What is your thought process in a hand.  How do you know when and how much to go for value in a hand, flop, turn, river.  If your not sure on a range to put a player on how do you proceed.  Kind of a general ? about some insight will be great.  Thanks.

kinda vague, there are a lot of things going on, but i can think of 3 major ones. first i want to identify the villain. do i know him, is he a reg, a random, a fish? this can often affect the best way to play the hand... like if you have QJcc and a good tricky reg limps, you may limp along. but if a fish limps you should probably be raising it up.

the second would be generalizations. you put them in a group, now you want to have a good idea of how this person should play, how they should perceive you.  you could even go deeper into different kinds of fish, different kind of regs... like the guy you recognize from 2p2 who is probably shove happy or the guy you remember seeing in the big tourneys back when you were coming up who still plays like its 1994. this is most related to playing poker and experience. you just have to grind hands and get a good feeling for how certain people tend to play and things like how they react to aggression.

the third would be history. in a lot of the games i play you know half your table these days so having a good memory of who you have and have not gotten out of line against is clutch of course. also i think a lot of players just ignore the table if they aren't in the hand which is really bad.

one tip would be when you have free time click the hand history and go back and look at the last couple big hands so you know what's been going on while you were 8 tabling.

 are u backed?

never been backed online but started being backed for live recently.

what is ur weekly routine?

probably too much poker lately. i kept my apartment at school but all my buddies/roommate graduated so i've just been playing a bunch. i play mon-weds night, sat and sunday afternoon with a couple afternoons mixed in. when i just play the night time tourneys i'll start with the full tilt cubed and finish the the stars 150. even though i want to start playing less in the future i know my results are best when im putting in lots of time.

 Thoughts on my game?

Do you really only play like 4 tables at a time? If so how do you not get super bored?

How much aim, music,tv w/e do you have going on while your playing.

Do you find Hsmtts relatively easy?

what poker forums or sites do u browse daily?

have u ever been alone at night thought you heard footsteps behind and turned around and no ones there? And as you quicken up your pace you find it hard to look again, because youre sure there's someone there?

Respect to Gboro

1)  Do you ever play cash?  If not, why not?  If so, how do you do compared to your success in MTTs?

2)  Do you stick with your bread and butter, or sometimes spew into sportsbetting/blackjack (i.e. bodog syndrome).?

3)  Are you staked?  What are the pro's and con's in your opinion?  (i.e. would it tilt you more if you were 0 for 15 in live tourneys if staked vs non-staked, etc.)

4)  Has anyone approached you for any level of sponsorship?

5)  What are the things you enjoy most about your poker life?  Any regrets?

6)  What are your favorite "house rules" for Chinese poker?  ;)

Best of luck to you for FTOPs. :)

What do you do to stay focused and play your A game after a big win and avoid the post-success casual attitude that usually leads to not playing well and early exits from tournaments?

Hello Mr. Boro,

It seems like only yesterday when I met up with you before one of your first Taj Mahal donkaments. If only I knew enough to get your autograph.

Lets say that you're a bot and are totally uncapable of changing gears. What one style of play would you go with in todays high stakes mtts? And how different is that from 2-3 yrs ago or how much evolution have you seen in the style of play?

At this point, how often do you spend time looking at hh's and studying/reviewing your (or others) play?  How diligent are you at taking notes on players?

Do you think that P5s should start a senior citizens forum for old folks like myself that can't multitable more than 3tbls at a time because of bad eyesight, have trouble staying awake past level 3 of the nightly 100k or can't understand the lingo you crazy kids use? OR do you think that old men like myself can still contrubute something to poker society?

Ty man--this is an awesome thing for the P5s community.  Keep crushing!
