I received word while at lunch that the AP release is due out very shortly. In a nutshell they still have much of the investigation to complete, and that will take time. So far they have definitive proof as to who the culprit was, how he did it, and the fact that he did in fact cash out a significant amount. Further, I am being told that he had more accounts than even we had realized, and they are doing extensive investigations because some of these accounts were attempted to be deleted by him.
This person was the second in charge and has been fired from AP, and his one superior Scott Tom is going to be removed from running AP for a significant period of time. For legal reasons the AP release is not going to specifically name this person, and I will elaborate on that fact and why it makes perfect sense. Most of us know this persons name already as it has already been widely reported.
This person was Scott Tom's best friend and actually lived at Scott Tom's house in Costa Rica. Scott Tom has been living in Panama for quite some time, and the day to day operations of AP were left to the care of his best friend and second in charge at AP. Unfortunately since the person in command of AP was also the thief he obviously issued numerous steadfast denials of any wrong doing. Basically he was investigating himself.
Since this person was a high ranking official he had access to very sensitive information, not only regarding the operations of the company, but also very sensitive information regarding player accounts, balances, names, deposits, withdrawals etc. Because of the Internet Gaming Act their is still a wide gray area as to what is sensitive and what is not. As such the attorneys for both AP and the KGC have the same opinion that is best not to release his name publicly for the simple fact that they do not want more harm being done to the industry as a result of this person possibly trying to disclose this information publicly as a retaliation for him being fired from AP.
Further, even though Scott Tom was not involved in the actual theft, he is responsible for the actions of his friend and second in charge of the company, which is why he is being removed for a significant time frame while the entire process of restoring trust in AP takes place.
I am being told that all monies players were cheated out of will be repaid. I also have made strong overtures and recommendations that in any case involving a player being cheated AP should err on the side of caution and compensate the player if their is any doubt that he was affected.
As I stated before, they already have found several accounts that even we had not known about, and evidence of some accounts that the second in charge tried to delete. All of this investigation is going to take time, but it appears that simply based on this disclosure that they are definitively going to make a concerted effort to make things right.

i'm not taking any sides here..
But LIVE poker is rigged too, ehh?
Do you have any basis for that conclusion other than she had an earpiece in?
Maybe rich movie stars use that as their mp3 player instead of the lame, stock ipod headphones....
just a thought, i'm all for conspircy theories but i really really doubt that the Harrahs would risk that sort of thing with the amount of money they rake in every year

tc,
of course he's mad, i'd be too. chris has been doing a ton w/ regards this scandal and some people have nothing better to do than to try and create more drama and more negativity. and you're right, this is a forum, so chris will respond to any moronic posts attempting to degrade him that he wants to.
also dude, everyone is concerned w/ the integrity of online poker. if you've kept up with any of this, you'd know that most of the well known sites (ie. poker stars, tilt, bodog, etc, etc) are still well respected w/ regards to their security and have gone as far as taking away 1st place prizes from suspected cheaters in tournaments, terminated suspicious accounts, and refunding all its customers that were unfortunately and wrongly cheated.
his "cheating ability" was discovered way before the tournament he took down. even tho his blatant style of play and comments gave away the fact that he was cheating, cash players had already been onto this guy weeks before he took down the 150k. unless the cheater is smart enough and does not get overwhelmed w/ greed in all the money that can be made, it is hard for a cheater to hide the fact that he can see his opponents hole cards. smart high stakes players can tell when they are being cheated.. i mean, u dont have to know that much about poker to understand that he was cheating. so unless cheaters want to grind out .25/.50 cash games, they are going to get caught.
ap, you are a bunch of morons at best and a handfull of lying, cheating scumtwats at worst. this was done at a very high level w/ the intention to screw your customers. every hand you deal from here on out is one hand too many. your site should be shut down IMMIDIATELY. GTFO.

BAM! Sarcasm 9/10 wp
But it's technically not a typo if you do it twice in one post -- it's illiteracy

People can cheat in any forum, live poker, chess, you name it. Someone recently posted a link to a story where a kid had electronics in his cap at a chess tourney. His buddy would use computer programs and feed him the best move. He was caught cause they did a random sweep. If you want, I'll dig up the link and repost it.

Anyhow, you're right, just cause she wore an IFB doesn't mean that there was cheating. She lives with a poker pro, but she did not exhibit enough experience to count chips, and it appears as though she was listening for instructions (to me that is--appeared to me). Is it possible? Well, I doubt Harrahs would have known about it. Even if it was a wireless IFB, there would have been enough wireless mics and stuff that I seriously doubt Harrahs could have performed a sweep. (Geeze - cheats will read this and think ahhhhhaaa - too much wireless waves during poker tourneys to pick stuff up.) Who knows, but in todays world, it is possible. People often try to cheat in other ways than electronics, marked cards, collusion, etc. Use good solid skills and you stand a chance of overcoming collusion, but when the house cheats, we're all in trouble. AP has been caught. I suspect they are not the only ones, but it's not to say I think they all cheat.
No telling how many typos I have. Sorry, but I don't care to take the time to spell check. Tuff stuff spelling police.

Yes, i was steamed at some of the inflammatory whackiness. My strongest recommendation is being taken, and that is to have Nat go to Costa Rica to be involved in the process.
I trust his judgment implicitly.
