UB is right to change their chat rule

Look there are going to be things that are unpopular in online poker.  But this move is necessary for online poker.  From most of the card rooms standpoint they need to protect their player base.  It has become all too common to have people recruiting from other sites in a massive way.

Party Poker used to be flat out ridiculous.

This is an easy fix.  Each site should look at having a part in their application where people can go to chat.  Separate of the tables.  I know that everyone will complain but sites lose millions of dollars unnecessarily by having chat at the tables.  If you guys can't see why they would protect themselves from this you have lost your minds.

In the mean time I would be happy to set up 2-3 sites with chat formats for people to log on to.  If anyone is interested in helping me with this project let me know.

It was going to be unpopular they didn't need a test group to tell them that.  This is a lot of noise about a relatively small issue.  I laid out what I imagine their reasons to be.

P.S.  This isn't about bonus.  This is about other sites sending mercenaries in to steal their customers.  This happens on every site and trust me every site will address this at some point.  Because UB is doing it they will all move to some other site that will address it.

I think that Stars has the best idea towards obs chat, you can't talk unless you have the "buy in" in your account.

First, please don't call me dude. I'm not Keanu Reeves or some pot smoking little kid. Second, I'll bet you that this will be changed back. I will only make it $1 just to prove a point. Just to keep it friendly.

Have not read all the replies so this may have been posted.  Stars has this right, you cannot chat if you do not have the buy in amount for that tourney in your account

Stars has everything right. Well if they had Ubs blind structure and some really high limit cash tables there would be no other sites.

Personally I cant win on Stars. UB fits my game much better. UB just seems to continue to annoy people though, Maybe "they" should send out some mercinaries instead of making the small playerbase they have mad.

Again, UB make the site "player friendly". Get a decent support system going( either a 1-800No or more people to answer emails) make the bonuses easier to clear, give the cash tables a rake back, allow people who win seats to unregester and use the money in tourneys of thier choosing and they might grow.UBs problem is that it just doesnt cater to the players.

Beanie, therre is no WAY that UB will ignore the COMMUNITY as a whole. I will take your bet and double it to $1000 that they will reimplement chat within 120 days.

Boy I got some instantaneous replies before yet when I decide to take your bet you are dragging your feet. Is this just coincidence or are you not as confident as previously stated?

ha

I PM'ed you the minute you said 1k big shot.

Anyway.  I will take your bet we just give the money to a neutral party.  The deal is this they will not restore chat to sit and go's and cash games the way they used to do it.  How does that sound?

So I would win if they took any of the suggestions in this thread.  I think UB is tired of caving in.  If I am wrong I will have to beat some donkey at Bodog for 1k.

Ya, chat is not a right, it's a privilege, but taking it away for everyone also penalizes their valued customers.

UB already has the infrastructure in place and it shouldn't take much for them to allow full chat privileges for Preferred players.  I'm certain that 99% of the beggars, scammers, and spammers are all non-Preferred members.

It's not a perfect solution, but better than banning everyone.

The PS solution sounds ok too.  For cash games you could require players to have the minimum table buy-in, but this wouldn't prevent people from putting in a few bucks and being allowed to spam the majority of tables on the site.

That's weak. You said that they wouldn't cave on this and you were willing to bet. I think they will restore chat to some degree which means possibly using one of the suggestions in this post. You are backtracking here.

I think you are correct.  I would expect that something will be done but I doubt it will resemble what it used to be.
