UB Tour of Duty

Okay...so I generally just talk about the tournament schedule on here but I am going to make an exception.  There is a new promotion up today on UB and the thing is that I pitched this over two years ago before I stopped consulting for UB and it got shot down.  So I have been sitting on this one watching a similar promo on that site that my brother is associated with do gangbusters steaming for two years about it.  Now it is finally up on UB...Yay!

Seriously, I have been on life tilt for two years over this.  I am only slightly exaggerating.

The only money that can be won from this promotion is in the freerolls correct?  If so, tt would be a much better promotion if there were other ways to make money off it like FTP does with the bonus metals.  There would be alot of time and effort put into playing that much.  To only get a freeroll out of it, imo, is not worht it.  It is a step in the right direction, though.

I love UB and all but I see there is a freeroll associated with this promotion.

Last time I qualified for a freeroll on UB (a week or 2 ago for some wsop promo) I received an e-mail telling me about it 1 hour after the tournament started.  Maybe letting us know before the tournament starts would be ok this time?

other than that ub is running much better, keep up the good work.

Great Promo, if all you do is play poker all day.
What about a promo for most of your players and not the small % of UB members who are pro's

hmmm...we have the gas Card Promo going this weekend...$10K worth of gas cards being given away every hour ranging from $25 to $1K that is pretty cool.  We have overlays up to your eyeballs everyday.  You can pick and choose which ones of those you want to play in. Also, there is the sniper bounty promo.  And, of course, the Earn Your Way to the WSOP for free promo.

Seems like a lot going on even if you don't play every day.  But I guess you can;t please everyone :-)

No reason to get defensive Annie.  I was just simply saying that it would be a much better promotion if there were more involed.  Don't get me wrong this is not a horrible promotion by any means, but it is nothing like the Iron Man Challege.  I know my opinion(that of one who doesn't even play UB anymore) of this situation changes nothing, but I do still have an opinion.  As stated before, I really do think UB is moving in the right direction, and I can see myself playing there in the future if things continue to go smoothly.

edit:
Just saw that you post was not directed at me.  Sorry.

make sure you read the terms and conditions...

Hey Annie,

Any chance that UB could make their software open source? Some of the most secure products in the world are open source products because there are so many people reviewing the software. And given UB's dismal track record at finding their own security holes, this may go a long way in helping restore their image and truly making them "the most secure" poker site. Once one poker site does it, it will put pressure on all sites to do likewise.

Thanks.

Hey annie, I love all the new ideas and tourneys on ub, however I agree we need something other than freerolls in this promotion, the medals on tilt are cool, how bout being able to get ultimate points or td's instead of the freerolls. Think the promotion would be a bigger hit if we had more options, honestly I just play omaha 8 and a holdem freeroll doesnt really excite me like extra ultimate points or td's or even bonus dollars would. Keep up the good work looking forward to the new 150 dollar plo8 tourney starting on the 28th.

DexterCain:

Fighting His Way Back

After doubling up Minh Ly and moving himself to the very edge of the abyss, Howard Lederer has come clawing back. He won two uncontested pots very shortly after that to work back up to around 40,000. Just a moment ago, he and Minh Ly hooked up for Round Two.

Action was folded all the way around the table to the small blind, and Minh Ly pushed at Howard, raising to 18,000. Lederer smooth-called, saying, "This is my spot." The flop came out {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Ly checked it over, and Lederer wasted no time moving all in for his remaining 24,000, enough to push Ly out. That pot chipped The Professor up further, close to 60,000.

On the very next hand, John-Paul Kelly opened from middle position for 16,000, and it came back to Lederer in the small blind. He pushed it, moving all in for 54,000. Kelly ducked out, and Lederer has now won more pots in the past five minutes than he has won in perhaps the two or three hours prior. He has climbed back to 82,000, after being severly in danger with 14,000 just moments ago.

When asked what he thought of his newfound good fortune Howard turned to the camera, and with a wry smile said "My sister just told me BPV said gl, so fitna tid imo."

There was some background discussion on who exactly  BPV was, after a minute or so of deliberation it was announced that BPV is none other than pokerjamers' former roomate.

lol at the edit

Nice promotion Annie  I wish it had a different name though.

I was sorry to see that Howard fell short of the final table.  He is playing really well in this wsop so I wouldn't be surprised to see him at a final table again or walking away with a bracelet.

Can Phil Hellmuth come and post on these boards about UB too?  I'd like that :)  I hear he can dodge bullets online as well...and that's hard to do.
