I know lots of variables to this question so I'll list a few in reference to .25/.50 at UB
1) six seat full or short and ten seat full or 7/8 seated
2) six seat ; u get blinded more but can play looser with looser card selection
3) ten seat ; u get bigger pots but more opportunity that yor second or third best will be beaten
4) in six do u call river with which only of 1st; 2nd; 3rd; 4th; 5th best
5) in ten same question
Finally an Aussie battler donkey fish is capable of an interesting intellegent post
PS i just put that bit in so i get the funny replies from the bucket bongers

The biggest reason I like shorthanded games better is because..
1) Easier to recall past actions made by players
2) I am LAG at heart
3) Easier to notice tells
4) Alot of people at the lower limits do not know how to adjust to 6-max, and therefore are easy money
5) I DO make more money at 6-max than full ring
6) I find it much easier to outplay 5 other players rather than 9
7) Basically all this shows that I am extremely lazy...

Anyways, 6 max can be very very profitable, but the swings are also going to be a bit larger.  Really pay attention to table selection.  If youre not liking the table youre at, dont be afraid to move.  When sit down for a session, I look for my fishies, sit at that table.  If things just arent going well there, then I move on, no biggie.

Also, you had said in your post "4) in six do u call river with which only of 1st; 2nd; 3rd; 4th; 5th best."
You cant look at it this way.  You are simply looking at the surface, the cards you are dealt and the board.  You have to look deeper, the situation, the opponent, position, stack sizes, etc.  Poker is very situational.
Hope this helps, gl.

I don't have time for a lengthy reply at the moment, but I can assure you that overall 6max games are more profitable in most situations. At the higher levels there are way less fish in the 10 handed games but the fish count is still very high in the 6max games.

Most people hear that you need to play more hands at 6max so they play way to many hands, even the fairly solid players seem to play way too many hands when they make the switch to 6max.

I make over 1 BB/100 more in the 6max games than I do in ten handed games.
