WTF? pokershare

Dear ***** ****,

We would like to thank you for being a member of PokerShare.  We are writing to inform you that due to a policy change as of November 1, 2005 North American residents are no longer able to play in the PokerShare cardroom.

We have closed your account, DMFW.  If you had a cash balance in your account we have initiated a withdrawal for you to refund these monies in full.  Along with your cash balance we have converted any Tournament Entry Chips (TECs) and included them in the withdrawal of funds.

If you are owed money, you will be receiving a check in full for your entire account balance to your address on file.  Balances in excess of $500 have been sent by FedEx.  Smaller balances have been sent by regular mail.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sincerely

Robert

I don't want my money in the mail 2 months from now.  I want it in my Neteller account tomorrow.  F this.

I know this is not the right time to post this, but...

i said at the start of pokershare that something smells fishy and that i do not trust the site, and that is sounds like a big scam to me.

with that said, i have some money on there and im pretty pissed.

I also withdrew about a week ago from PokerShare... I'd rather not wait for a check.

PokerShare is not a fraud site.  It's linked very closely to UB.

I'm editing my posts until I know exactly what is going on

I was able to stay logged on and tranfer my funds back to UB before I got any such email.  Thanks for the post guys.

Are you sure this is the issue thats caused this Cal? It says in the e-mail that no North American residents can play at all, not just UB customers.

Cashweekly's argument about it being illegal for North Americans to own a Poker site which is effectively (?) what is happening seems more like the cause to me.

Either way these are the elementary details that Pokershare absolutely had to have sorted before they launched the site and the fact that the owners couldn't do this gives me no confidence at all as to their abilities to run a business properly.

Yes, if you're still logged in you can still withdraw to Neteller... I know someone who just did that.

Me too. I was playing a couple tournaments on pokershare and read this thread. Luckily I got my money out through neteller.

I still haven't received an e-mail from them and I can still get in with no problems, probably coming soon though.

But doesnt howard lederer and some other pros have a stake at full tilt?  Doyle Brunson has his own card room now too.  Are they merely endorsements???  Im betting they have a share?
