I went to D.C. this week to demand our rights
By TheEngineer on 05-10-2008 8:42 AM

I had a business trip around D.C. so I stopped in to visit the staffs of Rep. Davis, Sen. McConnell, and Sen. Bunning to tell them we demand our liberty! Very Happy The visits went well and were productive. I went with John Pappas and two lobbyists.

We had good discussions on our issues as well as other issues with UIGEA that impact other interests, like banks and horse racing.

Please keep writing.  We're being heard!

Hey Kyl! Poker players are fighting back, and we won't quit until we have our liberty.

After working in Baltimore all day Tuesday, I went down to D.C. to attend the 4th Annual Bad Beat on Cancer Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament (a very good cause). Several pro players attended, as did a few congressmen. Skallagrim was there. I had never met him in person, so that was really cool. He's just as passionate about our rights in person as he is on the forums.

Skallagrim, Chris Ferguson, and me

A+ rated Congressman Bobby Scott and me

PPA and poker in general were well-represented at the event. It was an excellent evening for poker and for finding a cure for cancer.

Poker players have sent over 30,000 letters to Congress since the letter at www.pokerplayersalliance.org/letter was updated (that was April 9).  I printed out the ones that were sent to Sen. McConnell prior to meeting with his staff.  When I brought in a stack of hundreds of letters, it made a real impression.  I also brought a letter signed by the entire Kentucky PPA state committee, demonstrating the level of organization in the state.

They really are working.  Please keep them coming.  Once you've written, get your friends and family to write.  And, remember to register to vote so you can vote for your freedoms in November.
