APNewsBreak: Group says poker winnings are frozen
APNewsBreak: Group says government has frozen online poker players' winnings
WASHINGTON (AP) -- An advocacy group for online poker says the federal government has frozen the accounts of payment processors that handle the winnings of thousands of online poker players.
The Poker Players Alliance says those winnings are worth upward of $30 million.
The alliance tells The Associated Press that the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York told three banks to freeze the accounts.
A document obtained by the AP shows that a judge in the district issued a seizure warrant last week for an account at a Wells Fargo bank in San Francisco.
The Justice Department has long maintained that Internet gambling is illegal, a view that the poker group challenges.

There has been quite a few people that have recieved the "new" checks. I'm guessing they all live up north.
If you live in the south, YOU'RE SCREWED!!!

RollTide,
I requested a cashout on 6/9. As of today, it is still pending. Emailed Stars today, and here is the response:
Thank you for writing.
I apologise for the delay in our response, and can assure you that we will deal with your issue as soon as possible.
Your email has already been forwarded to the Cashier Department. They will contact you as soon as they are able review your cash-out transaction made on 6/9.
Thank you for your patience, and for choosing PokerStars.
Kind regards,

Thx Tim
That makes my decision a lot easier. I'm cashing out thru bank wire. You've got to wait over a week for a pending cashout and another week and half for delivery?
Thats awful.

My mail just ran, still no check.
I'm starting to get really pissed now.

Hahhaha. just got an email from stars. After waiting 2 weeks for an Echeck cashout, they credit the 2500.00 back to my account today saying that their echeck processor does not credit funds to bank accounts in NY. So basically had 2.5k tied up for 2 weeks for nothing... no compensation, no nothing. THANKS STARS.

Yea, tell me about it. My bank account is currently sitting at -$850.00 from a bounced 2.5k check earlier in the month.
Sweet decision to play poker for a summer job.

People need to get a grip and stop emaling stars 50 times a day, youre making things worse for all of us. They are backlogged, it's going to take longer for a little while to get cash and get processed, just deal with it, or manage your monies better.

lol ok fag bag, i have nothing to prove to you but here.
Hello,
It has come to our attention that your recent eCheck
cashout, which was initially delayed due to processing issues but
reported as a successful transaction, and can be viewed as such in your
Cashier history, has in fact now been returned. This is because the
eCheck processor used has informed us they have restrictions such that
they are unable to process eCheck credits to your state.
The funds in respect of this transaction have now been recredited to your PokerStars
balance. Please note that although we have recently resumed processing
of eCheck cashouts, at this time we are only processing requests
received before this option was turned off. Once this backlog has been
cleared, we hope to start accepting new eCheck cashout requests,
through a new processor that does not have those state restrictions.
Please note that this option will be gradually made available to players. This means that at first, only a group of players will be able
to cashout by eChecks. In the meantime, you may wish to consider
requesting a paper check, or a wire transfer (limits apply).
We
appreciate your continued patience and understanding, and if you have
any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
PokerStars Payment Services
