Am I wrong that his call was totally insane? Was my push that bad a play?

Pushing with KQ to a preflop raiser=INSANE. and calling with A5=Arag also=INSANE.
Never push to a preflop raiser with KQ.....if u get called....most of the time they have Ace rag and ur beat PF.

KQ is about 40% to Ace rag, not much worse off than two overcards to an under pair (55/45). If figure he's only getting. 1.61:1 on his money.
I thought since I could make the money odds so bad, and that one would assume I'd only make this play with a strong Ace or a PP, that Ace rag would lay down. Since his pot odds suck and if he loses he's out, guess he wanted to gamble.

do you ever try to resteal?
I would think that I have a perftect type of hand for a resteal, good agaisnt Ace rag, good against a middle pocket pair. If I have AK, AQ, QQ, KK, AA then it's not a resteal.

you guys are being really results oriented IMO
folds to the button who's raising with a huge range of hands, KQ can EASILY be the best hand here, i like the shove because the initial raiser is getting less than 2-1 and can afford to fold and still be in ok shape.
i really dislike his call with A5 he has to put you on just a complete resteal to make that call, not sure how aggressive you were during this sng that maybe you had a laggy image and therefore would get called down lighter...

This was my very first raise in the sng, and I was only the second time I voluntairly put chips in the pot.
when I imported the hand into poker tracker I could see the guy who busted me here was the very next one out. :(

I like the push. You have fold equity, and he should fold most holdings. But you are in a donk -n-go, so you can't expect them to make logical decisions. He probably though, "I have an Ace, wooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooo." Even if he does call, you will probably be facing a pp or a weak ace, or have him crushed.
Good play

yeah I checked him out on Sharkscope, he's stuck $800 over 300 games.

u scoped him be4 u pushed? u r giving him bout 2 to 1 to make the call, so attempting a resteal is fine if you can get him to fold.
he should open fold a5 honestly, and it should be folded to you, where you make a standard 3x and everyone folds and you pick up the blinds.
but he didnt
so you should fold

In a MTT this is a fine 're-steal' even though it is probably the best hand. In a SNG you need to fold. ICM clearly has this as a fold, shoving is -EV as you will only get called if you are beat and there is no reason to race.

He must've used an old 'Jedi Mind trick' on you and sensed that his A no-kicker was actually good.

If this is a one table s&g I am really not a fan of this play. I think a preflop fold is correct here.
his call is super donkish,though.
