This is a tough spot.  I find myself leaning towards a fold with no reads lately.  villian is coming in utg with a 3x raise and 17bb.  I just don't think he shows up with anything we dominate here enough to make this a profitable play.

At best you are flipping, which you were, for your life and many times you are likely dominated.

With no information to guide me, I move in here; if, as in this case, your opponent is foolish enough to stand a large reraise with suited AQ, he'll more than likely get broke himself.

There are those who would argue that 99 should get mucked here, but I'd just as soon get myself a stack and take a run at that final table. Of course, if you use software which indicates that this player will only open with TT/suited AK or better, then you don't have anything. Against typical opponents, folding here is -EV.

With no info, you move in?  Guy is raising utg with 17bb, and you just jam over that with very little fold equity?

With no prior reads, this is a fold.

I think this sums it up perfectly. I fold here

In events such as this, I've often found players willing to raise it up with hands as weak as 66 or KJ offsuit; whilst I agree that there's no info on the opener, that particular situation is inevitable at times, and I would be willing to accept the risk.

Merely cashing is unimportant to me- I'm after winning the big pot of gold(with selective aggression), as already stated.

with the blinds at only 300/600 there is no point in pushing such a hand, with no read on villian why risk your mtt life with 99 to a utg raiser.

I think you can pick a better situation to get your chips in than this.

I like Hushpuckena's advice here.

First off, it's 8k more, and it's for UTG raisers whole stack.  He isn't neccessarily looking to get called here, and could be somewhat weak (I've seen A10, KJ, 22, in these spots with unknowns).  Also, your M isn't strong here.  Sure, you can wait, but you aren't guaranteed to find anything better in the next 30 hands or so (and wait too long, and even if you double up, you won't be in a much better spot than you are now).

Plus, this is a $10 game.  Not every UTG raiser is really strong.  More players than not fail to understand position in these games (and those that do usually know you should raise more from the button, not play very tight UTG).  It's an unknown, I wouldn't credit them with knowing more here.

It's tough that it's 99.  Though I think he doesn't have to be strong, he might call you weak, and lot's of hands he should fold here (KJ, J10, A10), are hands that are flipping against you.

If you are at a table where your sure you can steal blinds once to twice a rotation, then I'd say fold.  If your not at such a spot, I don't mind pushing here.

For what it's worth, I push over the top here, and if I'm Hamster, I call you here, and it plays out.
