Need advice on how to approach on my live game experience The easiest answer here is to adjust to the table and not play a single set style. If the guy your in a hand with is nuts and will pay you off with any 2 holdings, then play more patient and pick your spots. As a general rule coming in to a new table and being inexperienced (from what im gathering) playing a tight solid game to start is good.. But you have to be willing to shift gears at the appropriate time and no one can tell you when that is but you and that comes from experience. This is key to being a successful player in any game. What do you do on river? The answer to #1 would lead me to fold, as well as #7 (Note I said in the original post (OP)). Very possible for him to have the "nuts" here and never air with the information you've given me, you should have more. This should be an exercise of some of the questions you should be asking yourself when making tough decisions , the more you do it the quicker you can pick out the important ones to ask yourself and make rational, educated decisions. Then he shows you 74o and you chalk it up, make note and move forward.. #5 throws me a for a loop a little but I dont think he really should have 1 ... Should I shove or just call on this river? Moses, you guys do realize no one can really answer these questions accurately with out more information about the villain. This isn't patty cake, there a lot more things to consider then I have KK, he bet smaller, lets raise' VS most thinking players w/ no history raising is awful for reasons that shouldn't need to be explained (he shouldn't call with worse depending again on a ton of things that require history). If he has been calling light and donking around then maybe you could make an argument, but to blindly say raise here is beyond ridiculous. I want to back up a little here and make ... What do you do on river? Hero should give us more information in the OP about the player. I'm going to list all things that i'd ask you before even beginning to explain my thought process on the hand. You are basically asking me if id blindly play Russian roulette on a Tuesday, at a random address with 3 guys i've never met. But here is the kicker you want me to pick one of the 3 guys guns , to play with, 2 our empty (or something more ridiculous I can't seem to think of right now) 1. How active has the guy been' 2. Improved/Clotilda/Felipe Montenegro I just signed on to say im surprised there isnt a @ feature ala twitter so I can @phatcat and tell him how much I miss playing v him (So it notifies him if you don't get it or use twitter).. Winning Poker Tournaments Volume III by Apestyles, PearlJammer, and Rizen Wow surprised no one has taken advantage of this.. Unfortunetly I dont have much time/reason to read an entire book on poker right now but I remember reading Volume 1 and enjoyed it as well as learned a lot of ways to beat these guys :P (If my memory serves me right the only time I can remember getting into any really big hands at least w/ Ape was HU where he crushed my soul by distracting me with his sweet talk ;) All jokes aside when people used to ask me what books to read this was always one of them and I can't see how these guys could have gotten any worse if not significantly better at ... Ultra Music Festival Wish id seen this thread earlier in the week.. Went down Thursday, absolutely nuts. Best part for me was spending a good 5 hours front center for Benny B, Afrojack , Skrillex and Tiesto all one after the other..Just an insane line up. Chandler Parsons- Best 2nd round rookie season ever? Clearly a little bias, especially cause I grew up playing with/against him.. However he had some really good games to start the season and lost some minutes when Chase came back. I still haven't heard anyone name someone with a better rookie year as a second rounder..Obviously there are better guys who got drafted in the second rd. Chandler Parsons- Best 2nd round rookie season ever? Banged home another nasty dunk over Ibaka last night..Check the other videos out on youtube as well.. Brought up the notion that he may be having the best rookie season ever for a 2nd rd pick. Got to thinking and other then maybe Ginobili he has to be up near the top. Ex-Professionals that moved on since BF... Kind of wish we didnt take so many shots the other night and could've talked about this subject more..or that I would've read your post before hand. I think you had one of the more unique views in poker. You were very much on the cusp of the hsmtt world, correct me if im wrong here. Dealing in a Casino I used to deal at a couple home games back in the day, a little different then casinos but same overall concept. I think it vastly improved my game in a few different areas. For one it gets you used to following the action, it can be tough going from online to playing only one table. Also helps with little things like handling chips, math and just overall understanding of game flow. Obviously getting an idea of how the regulars play can only help if you are allowed to play in these games. Over it Think this is my first post on the matter. Came home from the bars and just felt like ranting because well this is an outlet where I knew i'd get a bunch of different responses and possible discussion going. If anything I thought id get to have fun just spewing nonsense to someone like SC who well..WOW, he is great :) But I agree its silly when you dont or cant (oh') do anything about it.
