Is now a good time to invest in online poker?
All my investment money is tied up in a small oil exploration company at the moment but if they make a big strike, i plan to sell some and buy some MGM(MGM) and bwin/party (BPTY.L). I think these 2 companies already have some sort of deal in place for when legalisation happens but its likely they will become the dominating force in online poker post legalisation particularly if they'll be accepting international players - i think that will be very important for the success of the new site as well as great for the game. We could get back to real online poker growth then and 500k+ players ...

Yeah Phil's great to watch for entertainment but not in the same league as the others, he's more a tourney player than cash game but he would still think he was best player at the table!

When/how did you guys become winning players?
I've been playing online for nearly 7 years and the guy who said micro and higher stakes mtts play similar was right imo as long as its 15min levels or less, 20 or 30 min levels like wcoop are quite different cos of deep stacks they play more like cash games. Ive had a few deep runs in big buyins, only difference is your aa gets called by 55 in the lower buyin compared to jj in the higher buyin. Tight and solid works no matter what buyin imo. I never became a winning player tho, but i put this down to my low volume (work full time for family business), massive variance of multi-thousand ...

Why complain' Cos a relatively small site like 888 can give a ton of overlays including an almost 15k overlay on its saturday 30k guarantee today and multi billion company like stars cancels all guarantees. At a time of year meant for giving and generosity, i think it stinks tbh. As for 'having no life', theres a ton of people working shitty jobs on new year who would probably enjoy to be at home playing poker. 1. turn sharkscope positive for pokerstars 2. 5 figure win in a tourney these are basically the same thing though! Saw a couple of people trying for top 1000 rank on here, just out of interest does anyone know the total number of players in the P5's rankings' I can only see totals by country and not overall total players.

I had nothing to do tonight so thought i'd play the tourneys on stars thinking there might be some good overlays and then saw this, all guarantees removed! They make at least $2million EVERY DAY and can't give a few small overlays out to sad lonely people like me who have nothing else to do at new year' Happy F***ing New Year, from pokerstars. Partypoker make way less money than pokerstars but have still kept their GTD tournaments for tonight.

Out. i kept waiting for a solid hand to shove and then get called by j9 and bust out. i was by far least active at the table showed down only big hands and a guy calls my 55 shove with j9. The amusing part was that he thought for a minute to consider if he was ahead of my range so i'm putting him on like 6's 7's Aj or something and he turns over that junk. EVERY big pot at my table was won by the worst hand so it ended up full of czech donks with massive stacks making big calls with any 2 paint cards and sucking out every time. Thats what stars is like these days cos it's 'the' suckout ...

I can't think of another tournament except wsop main event that pays more than $2m for 1st. Even wpt and ept don't pay that much do they' Would that mean this is 2nd biggest tourney of the year inc live and online in prizemoney or has there been any others paying more than 2 mill' Anyone know' GL all

Would like to be in this LL but $50 a bit much for me not being a regular $215 baller. Maybe someone could run a $20 one' I won the first ever P5s sunday 200k last longer (now called the storm i think) and it was more than i cashed for! (brag post) Really looking forward to this tourney though as i only rarely play the sunday million as usually only mtt under $40 and not played the mill for over a year i think. Hopefully, this tourney being advertised on british tv should mean a lot more bad recreational players like myself making it an easier field than a normal sunday mill. Shame they ...

I also started playing in 2005 when bax was ranked no.1 on here and it is really inspiring to me to see him still winning these big buyins. Recently i was thinking i am too old for online poker now, probably was even when i started, and thought thats why i don't win anymore. But when i see this i realise that age shouldn't be a barrier in poker even online. Well done mr.bax and thanks for giving us old players hope.

Starting Fresh. WWYD with $500? <-------- First post, longtime
I am in the same situation, i took about 4 months off from playing cos i just wasnt getting any results. Then, about 2 months ago i deposited 3k on stars, self-banned from cash games to specifically concentrate on mtts up to $22. About 5 times so far i have got down to the last 2 or 3 tables of a big mtt and still not made an ft, at least 3 flips i remember in those situations and i didn't win one. I told myself when i made this deposit that when it's gone, i am done with online poker so i'm down to about 2k now and its not looking good, probably will turn out to be an expensive experiment! ...

the fact they limp and then call a raise tells me its a low buyin, for me its an instafold for 60bbs but wouldnt be surprised if they show up with like a10 and j9 or something.

Hand deepish in sunday million- too close to call.
Is there no action before you there' If so i shove but if there is ep raise i don't like shoving a mid pair over the top even shortstacked.

Multi Tabling how do you guys do it???
I am also quite old and use exactly that system you described emark. Works well because it allows you to concentrate more on particular mtts the deeper you get into them until you are left with just the one you are deepest in which you can then watch every hand to see players tendencies. Downside is you can't put in the huge volume that is needed to make good money. Guess thats why the guys making a lot online are young!
