I like the changes on the 750k on FTP. I think the brawl should also be 5k chips with the same structure, just to make every 215 buy in the same.. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough Preflop spot with KK super deep vs a reg We are 200 bbs deep vs a very good reg, I know I personally have aces in that spot. I would think most regs are not going to 4 bet a random, and I definitely think I am perceived as a random for luls this deep in a 1k. Especially when there are a lot of soft satty players in the field. That being said I dont normally flat kings this deep because I am raising for value -- I expect most pairs to call and fold when they dont flop a set. I also expect hands like some sc call and try to outplay me post-flop oop. I can play this hand much more effectively in a 3 bet pot than a 4 bet pot ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough Preflop spot with KK super deep vs a reg I did call and proceed, against this player I felt 5 betting here would just get me jammed on by aces, and I don't really want to 5 bet fold here. On the flop I felt I couldn't fold... On the turn when he crams I feel like he could be protecting two black aces... Or perhaps if he has QQ he might have Qd, but I really don't know if a reg would 4 ball QQ pre there. Re:Weird ICM spot in nhg 3 handed Well the other point is even, if I do 3 bet I am often gonna get 4 bet by Ax hands, which case I gotta fade the over and even if I do win I'm still a 3:1 chip underdog to the CL. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Advise needed!! Is it worth it??? Hey I used to play with you back in the day on AP before AP and UB merged, I was goblue55 on AP. My best poker was played in 2008 on AP, the games were so soft back then and AP really was a hidden gem, with genuinely weak competition all around. The $535 on Saturdays was an amazing tourney as was the 163 on Sundays. The 1k on Wednesday also wasn't that bad for a 1k. sigh @ the good ol' days. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Weird ICM spot in nhg 3 handed I had gotten very lucky a few hands earlier where the two guys had about 800k chips each but they played a huge pot and the bruce wizayne guy doubled sending him to a commanding chip lead. The leoeguy doubled off me when I called his 2 bb shove with K8 he had 57s and doubled. He is now at 5bbs when this hand comes up. It seems very much like we are locked up for 2nd place, and most likely will finish 2nd in this tourney if we go into HU with an 8:1 chip deficit. I do consider myself proficient at heads up but if we are handicapping those odds seem hard to overcome. Clearly if he wasn't ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hand v Bond18 I have no idea why you didn't raise preflop. As played I think anything but folding here is quite bad. He could very easily have a 2 here. Even if he is on a flush draw he is going to put heat on you on later streets after c/r that flop. You played it poorly pre-flop so now you have to fold on flop. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Couple P5'ers deep in 75k gtd wow shocking, P5ers or ranked players are deep in a random nightly $163, next thing you will say p5ers are deep in the super Tuesday too... But then I'd know it was a level cuz nobody would believe it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Our new Champ says "Poker isn't gambling. It's a hobby, an activity, a game" ??? LOL Almost every 401k in America is based upon waiting (or at some point waiting) way more than 10 years. People put their money in when they start working and they expect to take more out when they retire 30 years later. Its based on the compounding interest you make by investing in equities. The statement does make sense, most people can't time the market, most people that try fail, its just a reality of the stock market. But buying the overall market, in something like an index fund you are likely to show long term returns. This is because the fund is based on a comglomerate of the top ... Re:Our new Champ says "Poker isn't gambling. It's a hobby, an activity, a game" ??? LOL This isn't true, in the stock market the market as a whole profits long term. Anyone who owns an index fund that mirrors the S&P 500 profits long term (over decades). Yes, more individuals and fund managers that try to pick individual stocks and time the market generally lose more than they win over time, but as a whole the stock market is +EV. Poker on the other hand is slightly -EV as a game (the rake), there is much more emphasis on the individual. I think in poker the ratio is something like 90% of players lose and 10% win, so if you are in the minority of poker players for whom ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:HU vs dipthrong $50R turbo... WTF spot? Standard play here would be to call. Shoving doesn't really achieve much besides getting him to fold his random air, and get you snapped off by better. It does end the hand right here though and stop some random overcards from getting there, however those types of hands only do have 25% equity. You have to weight that vs him betting random air again that misses again on the turn. He certainly can't rep certain overcards because he didn't raise/shove pre, so for example an Ace or King are really good cards for you, however J and T are pretty bad cards. If you think he's really ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:People over 30 Online poker has been around for a while now, some old school folks who were 25 and were grinding 5 years ago are 30 now. I don't think age is necessarily a limiting factor in poker acuity. Getting good at poker requires discipline and hard work, and to some extent (depending on how high stakes we are talking) natural talent, there are no age restrictions on that.
