Re:The state of online poker?......as a whole
Well since your response degenerates after the 4th word, and descends into gay porn. I'll assume your 12. So I'll try to use small words. You ignore the basic ethics question that most who defend and condone any of the above mentioned issues do. It's collusion. When exactly did online poker legalize collusion' Ignoring the ethics of it doesn't make it right. It's collusion. It's cheating. References in case you need them. ethics Noun, pl 1. a code of behaviour, esp. of a particular group, profession, or individual: business ethics 2. the moral fitness of a decision, ...

Re:The state of online poker?......as a whole
Lol. Well since the inception of poker, until self regulated/unregulated online play that is. Just because there is no possible oversight, doesn't change the basic ethics of the game because it's online. If you did it live, you'd be run out on a rail.

Horrid. Legal issues-Ease of Use for Cashing out & Depositing-Cheating-Collusion-Superusers-Horrid customer service-Crazy bad ethics issues-Multi accounts-Assistance/coaching during hands & final tables-Switching players during tournaments-Having someone play an event for you-IM's, ect, ect, ect. The list goes on.................... The basic rule of one person to a hand, during a hand can't even be controlled anymore. And frankly isn't considered unethical by many "because it's online". How this became acceptable boggles the mind. Can you imagine during a ...

Re(1): bankroll advice
Ever since it became a pain in the ass to cash out in a timely manner, and my #1 choice to play is a sports book too. I've almost limited my online play back to these levels (plus I'm lucky and have 3 choices for higher limits live within 15 min). It's a nice money maker. I play 2-3 tables and fold ALOT. Tighten up, play position, push your huge hands, punish the under raiser & under bettors, ABC poker for the most part, period. That idiot calling your 5x the bb raise pre flop with 26s is gonna be there calling your continuation bet with his under pair to the board. There is almost 0 ...

Re(1): Thinking of switching to online tourneys as main income....
Just from the refrences that many of the top players have made in the past, I don't think many of them spend less than 12 hours a day playing. 16-18 hrs would be more like it, with TONS of multi tabling. Just check out the leader brds & profiles for a good idea of how many hours, buy-in's are required.

Ethics in Poker?
Great article by Graps, and doesn’t skirt the issue of the increasingly horrid atmosphere that online poker operates in. You can side step the issues any way you want, reword the problems, make it situational, ect-ect…….. The bottom line is that the situation will not get any better for years, if at all. Almost every week it’s a new issue or problem that crops up, that relates directly to Ethics or Character. If money is involved, and there is no way to supervise or regulate, greed & unethical behavior will start to prevail. None of the items below are considered ethical/standard live, ...

Re(3): Filling In For A Player Midway Through MTT
If something important/emergency came up, I can't imagine I would be concerned at all with the Trny. And it's a simple ethical issue anyhow. Why is it considered acceptable (any of the stuff above) if it's on-line.

Re(1): Filling In For A Player Midway Through MTT
It's amazing the unethical practices that on-line poker has created, that are just considered standard by some of today's players. This split question example, multi accounts, team play or coaching during a trny or game, ect, ect. Can you imagine during a live event..... Ah floor, I'm gonna have my friend take over for me, I just had something come up................... Truly amazing how the games changing...........................

When did it happen?
Forget the changes in the game in the past 4-5 yrs like solid starting hand selection, raises in relation to stack size, ect ect ect.... But when did what was considered one of the worst plays in poker "Calling all in on a draw" (non nuts most of the time at that), become a power move' Just curious.................

Re(1): MGM Grand Detroit
Greektown has a much bigger room & game selection. It's pretty much a no limit room except for 3/6 limit, they will run a few of those. Wait times are short and you can call ahead too get on the list. Daily trny's are fun, but tend to be an all in fest after the first hour unless your on a run. Usually the only time you'll run into a line or not get in is on Sat morn. They also run $60 sng's on the new electronic screen tables. / Check out the website for the Omaha & mixed games the spread on certin days. Motor City is a much smaller & cramped room, but has some ...

Re(1): So how profitable are the other games really?
On Bodog anyhow.......PLO & PLO8 up to $200 buy in. The NL players get bored, have 0 clue how important position, starting hand selection or reasonable draws are and call or raise everything to the river, making some nice pots. Beware tho, you'll take some wicked beats from time to time, with 9 to the flop and 5 to the river, and someone hitting their random 2 outter they wern't even drawing at. But juciy profitable!

Wow Brett. I'm not an expert either. But, there has to be accountabilty for a million dollar operation using other people's money. This isn't a "fling".

Gank, I agree in principal with what you are saying about start up costs. My background is in business. I own a real estate company, property management company and, a property services company, all independent built from ground up. I realize how fast and easy it is to bleed money starting any venture. The whole point of the questions revolve around results, and accountabilty. There seems to be 0 direct response from any parties running the PPA about the specific questions being asked. All replies are thru 3rd parties, execpt for very general non specific replies. Bottom line is, the figures ...

Initial investments' Why and what (or who) initial investments would need to be paid off' This makes no sense. This is not a for prifit company with backers looking for a return. And, the start up costs for this type of operation would be miniscule when compared against the monies taken it.

Agreed Chris! That was my whole point last week while wading through the "there the only one's doing anything" or more of the more sophmoric responses. It was a simple question as to where the funds are going, and how they are being put to use. The overhead in a not for profit simply should not be as outlandish as it seems to be on the return filed. Advertising, fund raising, and attorney fee's seem to be a generic back hole.
