Weird board texture spot...
I'm absolutely betting here on the turn. 700ish. Unless the game has changed just drastically since the last time I was playing on Stars, there are people calling these spots all the time with just the Qh or with only an ace and nothing else. The only thing I'm really at all scared of here is that the guy flopped a flush, but if he check-raises you probably know it's time to go... The only way I really see you getting CR'd off a winner is if he has AQ too with the Qh, in which case you'd only be splitting anyway

Pretty pathetic there. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they genuinely believed what they were posting. But I can't imagine anyone at PokerStars telling some news site that they'll be making an announcement on some day. Don't really know how anyone would know this... Companies don't usually pre-announce what time they're making an announcement that they haven't even said they're going to make. I wouldn't hold your breath for anything. I think this thing is happening, but trying to guess dates and times is futile

Sick value right now in this event. I'm sure more will sign up in the hours leading up to it, but currently there are only 42 entrants at $10 a piece for a $3k added prize pool and numerous other prizes. Even if 300 played, there'd still be 2x the buy ins in the pool. /

I'd need a lawyer to translate this to legalize, but basically Kentucky claims to have unfinished business with these companies. So they'd essentially say that the slate can't be wiped clean until they get what they claim they're owed. I don't really believe that either the DOJ or the state would trump the other in something like this, but a lawyer would know better

Wacky's not saying affiliates were doing anything wrong. He's saying that UB/AP wasn't sustaining a legitimate profit margin because they were giving such a high percentage of revenue back to players via deposit bonuses, rakeback, affiliate commissions, etc. There are a lot of other costs to operators. So it's entirely possible that their whole actual "profit" was just money they were taking out of deposits. I have no reason to believe this is or isn't true, since I haven't done any real analysis or heard from anyone. But I think that's what he's suggesting

Well - what you're talking about there almost certainly isn't going to happen. Even if PokerStars gets licensed to operate in the states, it's a given that it will only be for US players to play against other US players. It's quite possible it could even only be people playing against others in their own states. I wouldn't count on full fledged international competition again anytime soon, if ever. It's possible it could happen in a very advanced industry scenario many years down the road, but things are going to be relatively regional for quite a while

I wouldn't get your hopes up for GA... I think we'd be one of the last states. We seem to be on the very socially conservative end of the spectrum, and our state has a decent amount of revenue already. So I'm not really counting on it, but who knows. Online lotteries will be everywhere where there are lotteries at some point, I'm sure

Once I got away from Americans, never went back. Guess it helped that I married a latina, but my bias definitely goes that way. I find beautiful women of many different races and nationalities. Hard to really rank them when there's such variance among their internal ranks

Pretty much what I'm getting at... I think people tend to have short memories. It seems like ages ago - I guess it was over 5 years now - that Party was much bigger than Stars. Things change in a hurry, and I'm sure there will be some good options. It's harder to visualize when you already have an idea in your head of what online poker looks like. But in a few years after this stuff is in play, most people playing will barely remember how it was before

Not sure why everyone is so hung up on Stars specifically. I understand it's the best option right now for a lot of people, but reality is that the future of poker looks different than the present. There will be a lot of different options, and it's probably not going to be all about whether or not Stars is one of them
