Misclick in a Venetian Deep Stack!
lol... interesting high-on mistake, and sick image post showing you will defend your bb w/ K7o :-P doubt he's shoving wide enough to justify a call, even if he caught on to the misclick... math-wise you're getting 5-3 (15k more, 25k in the middle) after he moves in.... or 1.67-1. So you gotta be at least 37.5% vs his range to even consider calling. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 37.555% 36.22% 01.34% 2760926016 101974770.00 { K7o } Hand 1: 62.445% 61.11% 01.34% 4658301852 101974770.00 { 22+, A2s+, K6s+, Q7s+, J9s+, T9s, 98s, A2o+, K9o+, QTo+ } that's ~30% of all hands including ...

Today's FTP Update
to be fair in the doubles you only have 2 total entries... i just know at the end of the year my bottom line is more or less made up of how many top 3 finishes I have, and nothing else really matters... so entering something 6 times when i can only really accomplish something meaningful in 1 rings warning bells a little bit... that said, I agree in huuuuuggeee fields its not something to really worry about... but I'd be hesitant to have 4-6 entries going in a ~1000 entry field.

Today's FTP Update
yeah hadn't looked into the exact merging details at all so you're probably right... and you're definitely right that the equity hit would be bigger this way since there is usually a decent pay jump between 10th and 9th, and your "disappearing" entry would only get 10th place money... redoing my 750k example with that method and equal stacks with 11 left, your total ICM equity loss would be closer to 10k instead of 9k. (so not a huge difference, but definitely bigger).

Today's FTP Update
was curious, so just did a quick ICM calculation using the most recent 750k payscale... lets say you still had 2 entries going and all the stacks are exactly equal with 10 players left... both your entries would've each had 44k in equity according to ICM, for a total of 88k. now when another player is knocked out 10th (not by either of your entries), then one of your entries would be forced to take the 9th place payout (11k) and merge... the ICM calculation for your new merged stack with 8 players left would be 68k. So essentially by being forced to merge you would also be forced to give up ...

Why do players bet so small on the flop relative to the size of the pot in tourneys?
b/c one of the keys to poker is to leverage an opponent's entire stack (or the entire effective stack) while risking the smallest number of chips possible... when stacks are shallow you can essentially threaten an opponent's entire stack by betting a relatively small amount compared to the pot. in deep stack poker and 100+ bb cash games the size of the pot should be the main influence to your bet sizes... but in short stacked poker (deep in mtts), the size of the effective stack should often be the main influence of your bet sizes.

12/180 19 ppl left call/fold?
you can't win 180 turbos without gambling... and this isn't really even gambling. 99 absolutely crushes his range... especially since QQ+ is less likely because most players wouldn't open shove huge pairs in that spot. And he may be trying to abuse the bubble with weak aces and other hands you are crushing. I wouldn't be surprised to call and see something like 86s or 98o tbh. I probably call here with 66.

FTP 75$ - 99 - easy reshove?
looks like a standard reshove... definitely don't call and fold for 1/4 of your stack with 99 here; if you flat then def don't fold. I prefer reshipping like you did because it looks weaker to most players so you have a slightly better chance of getting action from worse hands in the blinds.

Raise more pre, and def bet bigger on the turn. here's the line I would usually take against a limping random: raise to ~550 pre bet ~700 on flop bet ~1700 on turn ship river. Your line isn't getting full value from strong aces, two pair, worse sets and other worse hands he might call you down with. And if you are going to stack off to a flush anyways then you should definitely try and get more value. The way you played this you stack off when you are beat, but only win a smallish pot when you have him beat; not a good formula.

Re:How do you range these guys?
I'm sticking to my guns... I think flatting with anything but a monster is a much bigger mistake by the 2nd flatter than by the first flatter. My logic would be that the 2nd flatter saw an ep shove, and a mp call for a large % of his stack, and still decided to enter the pot... that seems very strong to me, unless he is incompetent and/or being completely reckless with his bigger stack. And the first flatter only had the initial shover to worry about, and tons of hands beat his range. I don't think flatting with something like AJ or 88 is a huge mistake if you're the first ...

Re:How do you range these guys?
They both seem like competent players given their results, so both of those flats scream strength to me, especially the 2nd one. I'd probably gamble against the first flatter if nobody else came in, since he probably knows Daize is shoving light and doesn't really need to isolate since the initial shove was large enough... but still, the flat does make me suspicious given his stack size, so I'll assign a relatively tightish range like 88+, AQ+ But I think you can safely assume you are crushed here by the 2nd flatter, unless he misclicked. I think I might even find a fold with QQ ...

Re:3 left in 45 sng......shove or fold??
hmmm this doesn't "feel" right to me... haven't grinded SNGs in a while, but the only Nash charts i'm familiar with are the HU ones. And when I put those calling ranges into SNGEGT it says the button can shove 100% of hands profitably. Def not saying 100% is right though... Not sure if SNGEGT takes into account OC'ing - is that where it is going wrong' Also, do any of these programs take into account the fact that we will be forced into the blinds the next two hands' Even if we play close to perfect from the blinds, I would think that some sort of -$ev should be ...

Re:Do You Play Poker For a Living?
poker has been my main income source since late 2005, but this will be the first calendar year in which it will be my absolute only source. yes it can very stressful... most people who would even consider a poker career are intelligent/logical enough to make it in poker, but imo the vast majority will fail b/c they have unrealistic expectations which leads to not being able to handle the stress and manage their money correctly... a natural desire for competition, passion for the game, and humbleness so you can be self-critical and continuously try to improve are also important. for me ...
