A question about medium size hands with a 12-14 bb stack
Thanks for the reply, yeah that makes sense, hard to imagine A rag plays better after a call than 99. Anyway this has kind of led me to another question... as I said in my earlier post I know 5-10 games is nowhere near a big enough sample to start making conclusions from, but when can you start looking at sng stats and it be somewhat meaningful, I was thinking around 100 games' Also at what sort of ROI should you be thinking your beating the game enough to move up, and does this vary to mtt's'

A question about medium size hands with a 12-14 bb stack
Basically this is a spot I always seem to get myself in trouble, and I've been trying to evaluate my play recently with an icm calculator to try and work out if I'm pushing and 3-bet pushing in +EV situations. Now I have an example, but this is about more than this specific hand, I'm not worried that this particular time I ran into Queens but that given the situation was my action profitable normally. pokerstars Game #65711024472: Tournament #424747636, $6.37+$0.63 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level V (75/150) - 2011/08/08 16:50:18 WET [2011/08/08 11:50:18 ET] Table '424747636 1' 9-max Seat #9 is ...

$15 sng
Villain has been really passive up till now, have been blind vs blind with him a few time and on one occasion, checked behind me 3 streets with top pair, so this was very out of character, until he jammed obviously I was very happy with my hand, but all of a sudden my hand seemed tiny to me and that I couldn't beat anything, I tanked and folded eventually. Queen 9 is about the only hand I could even remotely put him on that I'm beating, and alot of players probably wouldn't play that hand that way either. Thoughts' pokerstars Game #65708221511: Tournament #424732377, $13.70+$1.30 USD Hold'em ...

AQs 12bb bad call?
Yeah I'm playing this as you did, your well infront of either players ranges and your short stacked, even if you lose to the first raiser which could be raising super wide given his chip stack, you would still be improving your chip stack by just beating the second raiser who has iso'd. You need to be chipping up and imo this looks a good spot to do so.

Low stakes Bounty tourney, wwyd?
Do you not find yourself getting stung by people reraising light on you, or paying to hit draws more frequently by not raising more as a standard' I don't want to bang on too much that this is at low stakes but people will call you lighter than they should, and 4 to a flush or straight is un-foldable to alot of players down there, surely your missing alot of value and not pricing people out of draws by betting so little post flop' If someone is determined to try and make their draw against me, I'm sure as hell going to make them pay to get there. I do agree with you about more often than not ...

Low stakes Bounty tourney, wwyd?
thanks for the feedback, but I do think a couple of points could be discussed further, firstly I think your range is too tight, as I said at this level you will get dipshits going meh he never hit that, donk shoving and preying you fold, this is the problem at this level is some players are so erratic it can be near impossible to assign them ranges, you wouldn't believe how many times I've seen this spot and then the fish turn over like AJo and cry in chatbox that their ace high was outkicked, in all spots at micro and low imo you have to assign to the range that they haven't got a clue ...

Low stakes Bounty tourney, wwyd?
This hand happened recently and quite honestly I keep switching my opinion of whether I played this right. It felt like a puke situation at the time, but I took my time and eventually (For this specific spot) made the right decision. The villain I haven't been playing with long given the blinds and stack sizes his pre flop play seemed weak. This is also low stakes poker so really wierd shit is pretty common. I have been busier than most but not hyper active by any means, and not 3-bet yet on this relatively new table. So I guess my question is was this the optimal way to play the ...

ub cash tables
Well believe me, I won't be playing the turbo tables again. I guess you can argue that everybody has the same issue, but i'm just saying im happy making 90% of decisions in a few secs, but even in a turbo, you should have a time bank of some sort for the tougher decisions, and certainly not have to sit about for your next big blind if you do use up the few seconds they do give you....

ub cash tables
Is it just me that think's the turbo cash tables are ridiculous' I mean seriously giving players about 10 secs to make a decision for there entire stack with no time bank, and when you 10 sec tank you get autofolded, and if your not very careful have to wait for the next big blind to come round and sit out an orbit, I mean serious wtf'' By all means make players play fast, but sort it out, some decisions take longer than a few secs and dont punish us by sitting out an orbit. While i'm moaning fix the lack of all-in button...

Re:How far do you go to avoid getting blinded out of a limpfest?
what about a player like this (keeps limping) just to your right who wont fold to a shove (been extremely lucky up to this point) and you cant pick up a hand. (I'm talking can't even find K9+) with savage blinds. I had this problem yesterday and was also wondering what correct strategy would be. Landed up moving in pretty much any hand he wasnt involved in which kept me somewhat alive but seemed really bad play. =/

Re:Bankroll Advice
I suggest Matrix games, rewards are smaller unless you absolutely smash all 4 tables but so are the risks. With that bankroll id fancy the $2 matrix games. Should be pretty easy to grind that up in soft fields and the matrix game would reduce variance.

Re:Hand from FTOPS 1
I don't play at this level, but isn't it unlikely villain calls flop bet with q 10' Also do you not get a load of qualifiers in the ftops that might overplay hands' I also would raise and call shove, could easily be against 2 pair, always a redraw if your wrong too.

Re:Adapting to Rush Tournaments Final Tables
I've only played a few of the 4.40 rush sng's but they do seem very easily exploitable for the reasons jennifear said, the bubble particularly is very very easy to chip up around and give yourself a great shot of winning. Bluff's also seem to become much easier to pick off, you'll often see min raises that crap themselfs once you 3-bet, players betting 1 bb into a pot of like 12 and then folding to a small raise.

Re:FTP moving tables.
Ah ok thanks for the explanation, would it not make more sense though to have players moved into seats depending on how recently they had the BB' So in my case for example, I get the closest available seat behind and including the small blind' If that makes sense.

FTP moving tables.
Does anybody know how the changing of tables works' Was just playing a tourney with 3 tables left, i'm in the big blind on a v short stack and 2 players get it in, 1 gets elim so we switch to 2 tables and once the current hand has finished I'm in the BB again. Does that mean seating is completley random or just once you get down to the final few tables'

Re:Easy or nitty?
its a jam for me too, very often see a naked ace, possible overpair to board too (smaller than 1010) might get a complete moron shoving some other funky hand assuming you'll fold.

I ship it here too, doubt he shoves aces here with his stack probably not KK either and against everything your flipping or better. I'm not thrilled about gambling such a large chunk of my stack but im never folding. 5 Dollar game, villain turns up with smaller Ace often, then hits with his A7. GG.

Re:What is optimal play here?! deep daily forty grand
If you meant by he had been playing alot of hands he was spewwy he probably wasn't the right guy to try the move on, I really like your reraise nice and aggressive but it's got to be against a player who will fold because obviously your turning you 44 into a bluff.

Re:11 dollar no rebuy 27 player tourney
2nd one if you blinded down to 3 big blinds that was your mistake, obviously you could still win this hand the majority of the time, but your still short stacked if you win it. If it was blinding down, you need to look at being more aggressive once you get shorter stacked. Once i'm close to losing fold equity, I tend to move in any button + cutoff + SB in unopened pots, and from other positions will shove any half good looking hand. This way your more likely to keep a stack that can intimidate bigger stacks into avoiding playing against you, you will win sometimes if someone calls and ...

Yuckie spot, in micro I think this is standard but at 20+2?
Well this was an unfriendly spot and at micro stakes I wouldn't have a problem with this, knowing that other 2 players in hand could easily be chasing and will pay to do so and with close to10 BB im willing to take a chance in order to get back in the running having flost a flip and run smaller pair into bigger in unavoidable clash. At this low/mid level($22 buy-in.) WWYD' Open shove' Check call and shove blank on turn' Raise fold' Raise call' I can't see any option I think is good... is check fold and wait for a better spot better' No major reads. During the hand I thought that most ...

Re:Anybody not going broke?
Yeah i'm just saying from previous play it was very likely he would have called and I would have gone bust either way. I'm also not disagreeing that a turn bet would have been better than checking, but heinsight is wonderful, I didn't know it was a draw I had to price him out of. Ok he called my pf raise with j10s not unreasonable, what if he has 109s' In that case I would have been betting 1/3 of my stack drawing to 2 outs. That's what I meant about the read having to be spot on, you would have to be very confident that you were playing against 2 draws or a draw and a weak ...

Re:Anybody not going broke?
I dunno about this, the read would have to be spot on to pull this off I think, there is alot more than just draws people could have particularly on a rainbow board, its hard for me to believe they were both drawing on such an uncordianated board. I think I do like firing again at the turn as you both suggested although as I said the guy that busted me didnt like to fold a sniff of anything so in this particular occasion if I had raised the turn he calls, I make set on river and push he makes easy call and busts me regardless. Easy game ^^

Re:Anybody not going broke?
Yeah I thought about that check after. Against this player though, I dont see him folding so on this particular hand I'm going broke either way. Out of curiosity, after I reraise on the flop what ranges are we giving the 2 players' After tiny lead out, reraise, call call its hard to see my 2 eight's being good isnt it' 68 is the only reaonable players hand thats eights are still beating isnt it' That was the reason I checked, i thought it was unlikely I was infront.
