FTP Answers 5/15
I agree. So, since all of my funds on FTP were built up from a ptp transfer and I never technically "deposited" money, am I to expect to receive nothing back' Not to mention the modest profits I had in my account. I'd like to think it was an oversight on the side of FTP to phrase it that way, the statement sounded very carefully crafted and it seems hard to believe they would accidentally say "deposits" when they meant "funds."

Weird Turn Spot w/AK
This hand came up last night in a tournament I played at a local card room. There was a lot of commentary at the table after showdown, and I wanted to hear some thoughts on my play here. We are at the final table. Five places pay, eight players remain. Blinds = 1k / 2k no antes. Most players are fairly tight at this point, although BB has been making some moves with his short stack. Most hands are either raise/take it preflop, or involve several limpers and then a few passive rounds to the river. SB : 20k BB : 15k Hero : 50k (AhKh) UTG+1 : 20k UTG+2 : 30k HJ : 30k CO : 65k BN : ...

spring poker round up in Pendleton Oregon in april
There are plenty of folks from the card room I play at here in Portland talking about going, but sadly I'm not one of them. I hope you have a good time, they put on a decent tournament out there (for NW standards, anyway) and iirc the fields are soft.

Peter Eastgate's return
OP makes a good point. This sets a bad precedent. I believe this was the first time in the history of poker anyone has ever said they're going to stop playing, and then came back to the game after a while. The Code of Poker Trust has been irrevocably broken.

Norm MacDonald New Host of 'High Stakes Poker'
I love Norm, I've been a fan since seeing his stand-up in the early 90's, but he's awfully esoteric for HSP. And like others, I wonder how he'll handle the poker side of things, although I'm sure he'll have a good writer feeding him info (ala Gobbo and Stapes on TBG).

Thanks for asking my question. He answered it exactly the way I expected... "You kids get off my lawn!" I like the guy but he really sounds bitter, and it kind of sounded like he was drunk or something.

Podcast: Submit Questions for Mike Matusow
Recently Daniel Negreanu has written that modern poker has passed some of the long-time famous players by, and that is why the public perception of their results have suffered. Meanwhile, Annie Duke is attempting to start a new poker league for "professional" poker players, suggesting that famous players are the key to mainstream success in poker. Do you agree with Daniel, that the internet has fueled these young unknown players making major TV finals, or with Annie that the lack of marketing is keeping famous names from TV'

Attention Full Tilt Poker(FTP) users, advertisers, users, sponsors, and executives
My point was that FTP isn't just looking at your hand histories to reach their conclusions. They are looking at information that none of us have access to. For example, the time in microseconds it takes to act, and bot patterns in that. The pixel on which the button is clicked, and whether there are bot patterns there. And so forth. The rebuttal you gave would indicate to me that you have reasonable (not concrete) evidence that a human played a portion of some of your tournaments. The fact that you played heads-up uniquely in each tournament is reasonable proof that you played heads-up in ...

Attention Full Tilt Poker(FTP) users, advertisers, users, sponsors, and executives
How exactly would a hand history prove "absolutely" that the player was not a bot' I understand FTP (and PS and others) use a lot of factors we never see to determine whether players are bots or not. Saying that a HH will provide absolute evidence is like an airline pilot arguing his personal diary is absolute evidence compared to the airplane's black box.

Ready to Boycott Full Tilt Completely (petition)
Why is it when players tell other players to up the number of tables they're playing it's good for their game, but when FTP allows players high-volume tournaments, FTP is greedy and killing poker' They're both just increased volume. It's not like FTP has increased their rake percentage, it's still the same with MET and Rush, they just get higher volumes. Nobody is forcing anyone to play those, in my case they're losing the rake I'd put into non-MET tournaments because I just 4-table one MET instead of spending an hour finding four standard tournaments to reg.

Am I the only one who loves M.E.T.s?
I love them for micro tourneys, I haven't played a standard reg tourney since they were announced. They are huge fields (even considering the multi entries they are huge, 5000 runners in tournaments that used to get 400 or less entries) and people give their chips away even into the money. Naturally the micro stakes are a whole different story than the serious tournaments, but I have to say at my level they are a huge hit.

How to Play at a Casual Work Tournament?
My brother and I used to set up this sort of tournament all the time at our old workplace, although we couldn't price it above $30 and get people to enter. Basically we just played super ABC style poker, bet our strong hands, check/called with medium hands (if they bet small, and usually they did) and folded our weak. Although it is frustrating to lose to someone playing a total nonsensical hand, we both made plenty of money over the year we were running them... I don't think there was one night when one of us didn't cash, and often enough one of us would win the whole thing.

Annie Duke to become commissioner of new poker league
It definitely sounds like a made-for-tv type of thing. Although I agree with the others, I wonder why pro players would want to enter these events and only play against other pros. Didn't the $100k at PCA kind of languish in sign-ins until Guy Laliberte and that Czech billionaire signed up' Some of the pros might be interested in playing for the prestige of beating the winningest live players, but I imagine a lot of them will be more interested in winning money against softer open fields. Maybe if they schedule their events in big gaps between EPT/WSOP events, although those gaps are less and ...

Avoiding More Than 10% Rake, Is It Possible For Micro Grinders?
Yeah, I think you got it there. So if 100 people pay 1+.10 to enter the tournament, there's 100 in the prize pool and 10 goes to rake. So 10% of the prize pool is effectively going to rake, and you'll need to make more of a profit to overcome it. Obviously since we should be calculating the rake as part of our buyin, we really only need to make any sort of profit, but if you look at it you're only paying the $1 to the tournament, and the .10 is the price of admission... you need to make 110% on your $1 to break even. If that makes sense, but that's how I look at it. It's also why I cringe ...

Avoiding More Than 10% Rake, Is It Possible For Micro Grinders?
The $1.45 ($1.25+.15) 90-man KO on PS are a good deal, rake-wise. Not to mention very soft fields. STT SNG on FTP are a great deal rake-wise, although now that they're On Demand it's bigger variance. When I think about rake, all I realize is that I have to make a 10% profit to overcome the rake... if I'm paying 12.5% or more, that means I have to make even more profit just to break even.
