Re:How much are they tipping on high stakes poker??
Yeah, it's def a tricky situation when the stakes get super high like that. Being a 2-5 player who has worked in the tipping industry, I normally tip $1 for a small pot, $2 for an average one, and $5 for a $500+ pot and cap it at $5 because this is my job and anything else just cuts into my yearly bottom line too much. I've given $25 tips on certain occasions, but those are super rare and usually after a huge pot. But when I see Phil Laak stack Matusow for ~100k and tip $15, I'm like wow, he's a cheapo. But then I look at it from the other angle, and if he tips $100, it's ...

Re:How much are they tipping on high stakes poker??
They are tipping in $5 increments, thats what the red chips they have along with their stack are for. If you notice when a player is all-in these $5 chips do not count towards their stack as they are strictly for tipping dealers/cocktail waitress'. Mind you, at the end of one episode, I remember seeing Todd Brunson say thank you and throw the dealer a $500 chip. But for the most part, they are going around $5 a hand for an average pot.

Re:Ok, this is super super standard..... right?
You have way too many chips to be shoving 66 here over a min raise which generally means a monster or air, even in button vs bb. I would personally 3 bet to around 17k and fold to a re-shove, but I'm not a tournament player. You're almost never getting called by a hand that you have dominated, and are even money at best against the rest of his range and your shove only increases your stack by about 10%. I dunno, for all those reasons, I 3 bet with the intention of folding, especially on the background you've given on the player, because I doubt he's capable of 4 betting light.

Yeah I agree. They do such a good job with these, and for those couple hours, it sure seems like those kids forget all about their illness' and how bad of a had they've been dealt. I give mad props to ESPN for doing this and it makes me wish that I did more myself.

Re:Calling ranges (cash)
I can't think of a possible hand that you could be holding here that would require this much decision. So far, all I know about your hand is that it was good enough to raise from utg+1, good enough to call a 3 bet from an apparently straightforward player, not strong enough to 4 bet with. I'm also going to assume that it's not Aces or Kings because you would likely iso against dadpoker given the cold call from the SB. Therefore, I am putting your range at 77-QQ, AK/AQs. If you have a set of 7's or 8's, then you're not going to get away from it, and you have a few ...

Re:Advice on dealing with this, over and over and over and over...
Ummmmmmm......fade the 8 on the river next time' I mean seriously, you got your money in as a big favorite and got drawn out on, it happens. I've been going through shit like this for the last 6 months, but aslong as I'm continually getting it in as a huge favorite, I can live with the results - you should be able to aswell.

Re:1-2NL big flop question? Do you call
Had typed out a whole long response here then realized that you held the AK of hearts, which in that case, you have to snap call here all day. The only thing you're a dog to is a set and even then, you're only about 2.5-1. He'll show up with two pair or some sort of straight flush draw enough of the time that calling is completely standard. Also, if you've raised the last 3 hands in a row, that's even more the reason to 3 bet here pre-flop. You'll get called light a decent amount of the time because of how unlikely it is that you actually have a premium hand this ...

Re:WSOP main event--- easiest way to get money offline and registered for the 10k Main Event?
Eh, yes and no. At the PCA, Stars lets you withdrawl money from your online account, for the tournament and side games, as I understand it. Obv the ME and a Stars live tournament are different situations but you can see where some people might get the idea from. Since the sites are no longer buying you into the event when you win a package as they've done in years past, it's not unfathomable to think the major sites would have something set up for their ME package winners.

Re:Supernova Elite
So what kind of odds should the OP be getting if he only has 45k right now' I orig said 10-1 but I'm not sure if that's right. What about if someone else, with say a 10k bankroll was going to do it' Would 10-1 still be right or should it be more/less' I just think about 2 months in whoever who was trying to do it in 6 months would go crazy and end up jumping off the roof to a slow and ultimately painful death.

Re:NL50 tough spot on the river ... please help analyze this hand
I'm 1000% happy to get it in on the flop here, even though his min re-raise pre is scary, almost all players at this level will go broke with AK or AQ here, and you don't want to a scare card (any queen, jack or heart) to come up and kill your action if he does have AK. Your turn bet is way too small. There is $18.25 in the pot and you bet $8.20. Way too small. A good rule of thumb if you are unsure, is to bet 2/3rds pot as it will generally give the incorrect odds for a draw to call and be profitable regardless of their decision. On a super dynamic (draw heavy) board like this, ...
