Pokerstars Purchases FTP??? GBT dragged the deal on and on when they had the chance to close it in the exclusive period. Probably overconfident and thought they were being the only potential buyer in town. Right now the deal is off and they came back to beg those FTP employees to start another site' Kinda pathetic... Pokerstars Purchases FTP??? We are probably talking about different things. What I meant was purchasing FTP with 300 million can never be justified on business EV alone for Pokerstars without taking settlement issues into consideration. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Pokerstars Purchases FTP??? +1. Those people who keep arguing how the purchase doesn't make any business sense are looking at this in the totally wrong way. It is all about legal and settlement issues for Stars at this point. The business issue is only a very small part in their consideration. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Re:The Poker Economy Tipping Point I agree with most of your points. IMO the only thing that can save online poker now is US regulation. otherwise the game will just keep getting tougher. I dont think Asian fish can replace all the lost US fish anytime soon. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WCOOP Main Event "Udon Wannit" (multi-acct. ?) I think this is a MA case too. but in 2007 the_v0id got caught because he was totally stupid and did it very obvious. I am sure all the MAers nowdays have learned the lesson from that. Therefore I suspect the MAer in this case would leave any concrete evidence for stars to convict him. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Official Billy Kopp ME Sweat! Agree. A good player most likely would call on that turn card with a boat or a nut flush and not go allin. If Moon knows these too, it is not a tough call at all. But Moon is not a great player, he is an amateur. I am not sure he really took this into account. He probably just thought: I got a flush, no way I am folding this to this aggressive guy. Re:Looking for a live poker game in Shanghai, China I think you should at least try to get a broadband internet connection, 2 would be ideal if you play for serious money. I live in Shanghai too and I installed 2 broadband internet connections to make sure I dont get disconnected. I play on pokerstars too and so far connection has been good. As for live games, I've heard there are some holdem clubs around hongqiao area. I am not sure what limit they play but I will do some research on it. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Ultimate Bet Pretty hard to have any sympathy for Bax. Guess this is what a guy deserve for lending his name to a shady site at the first place. Next time try to get a deal with a respectable site and not just look at how much $$ they offer you. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Whats harder Comparing making 100k+/year playing online poker and getting a undergraduate degree from a good school doesnt make much sense as it is not even close in terms of difficulty. It makes more sense if you compare it to an advanced degree in a tough field. For example, if you compare it to a PhD degree in a tough field, such as quantitative finance or physics. In that case, the latter probably is harder. But it will be close if you compare making 200K+/year playing online poker and getting a PhD in a very tough quantitative field. But the comparison would be meaningless too sicnce both of these ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Whats harder Making 100k a year playing poker is much harder. Any guys with above average IQ can get a degree from a decent school. It takes much much more to be successful in poker, especially online poker. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is great marketing or customer service more important in a poker site? Marketing is much more important than customer service IMO. Before UIGEA, Partypoker was the biggest site by far, it was not because they had the best customer service, which was actually very bad. It was because they had the best marketing and commercials in the whold industry. They attracted so many fish, then the pros followed the fish. If the game is soft and I can make good money at a site, I really don't care much about how long it takes them to respond to my e-mail. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Top Sng players on Sharkscope They made most of their money from HU sng,not 9-person SNG. And there are no techinically perfect ways to play HU SNG, you have to read your opponents well. For 9-person SNG, a formulatic approach may make you some money at lower buy-in, but at higher buyin SNG, you are break-even at best using this approach. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): Question on Multi-accounting, The V0id, etc... The "crime" was clearly multi-accounting. My guess is that it is more than just 2 accounts. Stars probably didn't want to reveal too much details on how they did the investigation so the future cheaters wont get smarter. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
