My Well: P0KERPR033 Hi James, good read. Congrats on all of your success. You say you'd never make a training video out of principle. I'm sure if you kept them simple making them would be both immediately and ultimately profitable for you. When all of the UB/AB scandals were going down, what were your principles like at that time' Did you continue to play there immediately after' If so, why' Did your principles ever make you second guess signing with UB, or is it a case of taking whatever you can get as an American' Even since the new ownership we've seen some highly suspect issues with UB. How have you ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems nope don't think he has the right to sell him for a worse deal at same makeup, good point. i think what i was trying to say was that bob must concede that it is a misunderstanding, not that his side is the only side to the story; it cannot be since he never once confirmed his makeup to be what he thought it was. i go back to my first comment about were i to be involved in backing i'd be sure to have a much closer relationship with my partners. i know for someone with limited knowledge of backing i probably sound like i think i know a great deal, but i do think i know enough in this example to ... Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems Don't forget clearing makeup doesn't always happen... It's indeed rare you get the opportunity to buy a proven big winner at a low % price... It actually is possible to continue spiralling into makeup, and as jamers said players in sizeable makeup usually aren't playing their best... still a pretty big risk where i'm sitting And, then bob would indeed be out of makeup so, were he do find another backer in this hypothetical situation, he would start at makeup = 0, not 33k. also, gl getting future horses with that reputation etc Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems so, they made you send the full 50k score, which was a clause you signed in your contract with them, and they did the math assuming a 33k makeup figure. N82 has clarified in this thread, since I'm unfamiliar, that the industry standard is that when a new backer buys makeup your existing makeup figure is kept (this has been the consensus throughout the thread). The reason backers buy makeup is because the ex-backer doesn't want to continue backing (lack of funds, trust, belief in profit potential etc.) and the new backer assumes ex-backer's situation at a cost! I didn't understand the 9k thing ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems Two ways you can go about this from my perspective Tom.. show zero bias, or do what you've done. You'd get a lot of respect for the former, you'd lose plenty for the latter. I think you should be pretty embarrassed to have even suggested this as the right solution. To claim that a few ubsubstantiated rumours and cheap shots should alleviate someone from a significant monetary debt is laughable. It's as if you posted this chatlog for the sole purpose of undermining everything you and others have claimed about his character. Noone actually gives a rat's arse if he plays craps, what his monetary ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems if any of the multitude of people lining up to defend bob2bob's character can explain how hiding from the situation, not replying to calls, emails etc. does not depict a spineless, filthy character, i'd like to hear it. and address this issue directly, don't skirt the issue. if he was half.. hell, a tenth the upstanding person everyone wants to paint him out to be he should have been doing everything he could to involve others (these forums do exist for a purpose other than to hate on people) to try to resolve the situation amicably - at the very least it appears jdpc was prepared to do ... TLDR; 4 censorship, Sorel Mizzi is a cheater ok if we ignore the people who stand to gain little or nothing from cheating then you'd be approaching that number, but if we're talking recognised professional players, the perception of many that it is just a few rotten apples who ruin it for the rest is unfortunately very wrong. Re:Life, Poker, and My Future Pretty sure The_Universe112 is a good example - he just wanted to make enough from poker to set him up and then stop playing. As far as getting backed is concerned, I don't think you offer a good enough reason not to. I'm all for playing on your own if you can, but there's definitely times and situations where getting backed is the clear play, I mean there really are a lot of merits to it. The good thing about being young is you've got time, you don't have to push too hard to get things too quickly; if you get backed now, there'll be a time to go back on your own ... Re:2010 Spring Championship of Online Poker -- Feedback Request Thread eh, i was under the impression that in years gone the WSOP has had tons of 10k and up events, a 50k HORSE, 5k rebuys.. no rebuys this year, but still plenty of 10ks and up Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:2010 Spring Championship of Online Poker -- Feedback Request Thread I hear that but I'd say that the target audience of a High buyin SCOOP series really isn't the backed HSMTT player in the first place, I believe that that demographic is more suited to the medium, or those who can afford the high, the high also. The SCOOP is really online's best answer to the WSOP, and the buyins at the WSOP are still many multiples higher. I know that many of the mid buyins would be disappointingly small to settle for for those HSMTT regs who cannot afford to play the High, which is where the qualms about the 10x factoring come in. It really is a bad plan of ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:2010 Spring Championship of Online Poker -- Feedback Request Thread Pretty big disappointment to see so many events scaled back from last year - eg. Mixed holdem goes from 3k 700k to a 2k 400k, 10k horse goes to a 2k'' - How is the highest HORSE tourney on offer a 2k buy-in' The 10k HORSE was a catastrophe last year but only because the structure was probably the most out of place hyper-turbo style (no doubt an overcorrection from the phenomenally deep 5k HORSE structure of WCOOP 2008) structure stars has ever released since its inception, not because the interest in a 10k HORSE is lacking. *edit: i must have been thinking about the 10k HORSE in the 2008 ... Re:Blind vs blind shove 100r what do u think?? If you are a new inexperienced player trying to improve your game, you're looking in the wrong spot.. All forums (and this thread in particular) will teach you is how to apply math to poker and in doing so develop a complete disregard for all the variables that make optimal theory so much more complicated than forums make it seem. The only way to become a really good player is to think about every possible aspect of the game for yourself and draw from your experiences. It should give you heart that, as clearly shown on the last 15 or so pages, the majority of the "top" players ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Isildur1 can now file suit againt Brian Hastings and FTP based on FTP Terms and Conditions meh, completely disagree with any notion that they should be allowed to have done what they did. for three of the best minds in poker to come together to essentially tag team an honest player for millions at the height of poker stakes and viewing is just fucking retarded as far as i'm concerned and I really hope it doesn't go unpunished. poker is an individual game, logging was outlawed very publicly from FTP for a reason. i'm not interested in counter-arguments about it happening all the time on a smaller, less meaningful scale; it does, all those cases are illegal also, but ...
