Well..I founded the Charity in September of '06 so I guess that would mean no ulterior motives as far as UB is concerned since the scandal happened 2 years after the founding.

Re:Ante Up for Africa
This is exactly what !Enough does and why half the money goes toward them. They are a charity about political activism because AUFA realizes thst all the money in the world that goes to the refugees is just sticking your finger in a dam if nothing is done about what is causing the refugees to be created. If we don't raise awareness with the voters and get these issues to be on the radar of our own government nothing will ever change. The good news is that there was a unaminous vote of the UN Security Council to create a peace keeping force in Sudan and for the first time China and Russia ...

Ante Up for Africa
Hi all-- As most of you probably know, I founded a charity with Don Cheadle and Norman Epstein called Ante Up for Africa (). Our charity is dedicated ro raising money to both raise awareness of the crisis in darfur through the !Enough Project (/) and to also get money on the ground to NGO's on the ground in the Sudan through Not on Our Watch (/). We founded the charity in September of 2006 and so far have raised close to $2 million for these causes. This coming year we are going to be explanding our efforts focus on not just darfur but other areas of need in Africa. To this end, I am ...

Re:CEREUS testing underway!
The tournament structure will be UB's. That includes length of blind levels and such. I designed the tournament schedule so think UB schedule with some amazing additional big dollar tournaments and the sniper tournaments guaranteed on the weekends. There are three, new $300+20 or higher freezeouts a week with great satellite support. And one of the new high dollar events is a deep stack. Also, sooon after the launch there will be some new mixed game guaranteed tournaments like HORSE. Annie

Re:CEREUS testing underway!
I just wanted to update how the choice is made about who gets to keep an account name if two people have the same name on Cereus. This is the message you get when you try to log on with an account name that needs to be changed: Our new poker platform means a lot more players at the tables. Unfortunately, one of these players is already using the same player name. The network automatically recognizes players based on play and seniority, so if the exact same Player Name is being used, players that have generated more UltimatePoints (or equivalent) will keep their Player Name. We kindly ask ...

Re:I guess Annette's Ban had an effect.
One: Unless I missed something...there is no way to make this information public to the whole field. Therefore most players will not be able to adjust their play accordingly. Two: A single person deciding to push all in every hand is different from two people deciding together before the hand is dealt. Knowing ahead of time if there is going to be a caller, greatly impacts the play of the people between those two players. I disagree with logical leap about penalize anyone for pushing all in preflop. Exactly. Also, When someone defends themselves by saying everyone at the table knew about ...

This assumes that a) you know what my financial interets are and b) that my ethics can be bought. I won't address b) too much because while my ethics can't be bought and I find the suggestion offensive I doubt I could ever convince you of that. But as to a) I am a paid employee of Ultimate Bet. I could walk away to another site and get paid by them. As I was making my decision I knew I could walk away, indignant, go to another site and get paid what I was paid by UB. I made my decision without benefit of ownership or upside in the health of the company. Even so, even if I did own a ...

Re:I guess Annette's Ban had an effect.
Yes, I do want to compare marking the cards with agreeing with another player to go all in during the rebuy period. Both have a huge impact on the outcome of the tournament and both are clearly cheating. Is one cheating of a greater magnitue' Sure. But both clearly fall into the category of cheating. Period. As for whether you can execute this without being caught, of course I could. As many have suggested you could just take the discussion onto AIM. But that does not make it okay. We have laws an those laws are not deemed irrelevent just because they are hard to enforce. I can also think of ...

OKay...by your logic if I say out loud that I have paid the dealer off and he is going to be dealing to me then we should allow that because if I don't say it out loud then that is much worse' At least it is out in the open and then all the players know it is going to be happening' How bout if I told you out loud that I would be marking the cards' How bout if I told you out loud that I had worked out a signalling system that would allow me to know my friend's hole cards' That is okay because we are not doing it on AIM behind your back' That logic doesn't work for me. Now no doubt ...

If you have an account on UB you can still play on UB. if you have an account on AP you can still play on AP. However, you will not be able to play on both brands at the same time, for obvious reasons. As for 2, no software I don't think makes all forms of cheating impossible but the systems for handling hole card information are similar to Tilts meaning the hole cards are not accessible in real time. I am not a software developer but my non software developer understanding is this. Annie

Oh...don't get me wrong. I completely understand that I have made a difficult choice and that I will get some bashing for it. However, I will defend myself against people calling me a liar when I certainly have not lied. I have made a choice to stick by UB because I truly believe that it is the act of integrity for me. I have publicly stated, including in front of congress, that one of the huge advantages of online poker is the transparency of the data that it affords. Cheating will occur in poker. It is an enormous financial market and, much like the stock market, it will attract ...

Re:I guess Annette's Ban had an effect.
I am very confused as to why so many players do not understand why agreeing to go all-in in the rebuy period of the tournament is collusion. Let me first say that this is not a rule isolated to Stars. It is true of other online sites such as Tilt and UB and a very strong rule was put in place at the WSOP. Before the beginning of the rebuy tournaments at the WSOP it was clearly announced that anyone agreeing to move all-in blind during the rebuy period with another player would be disqualified from the tournament and their chips would be taken out of play. If it weren't collusion I hardly ...

I am still not someone who is a paid endorser of AP. AP and UB are to remain separate brands that will operate on the same platform. The sites are not changing names to CEREUS. CEREUS is the new platform. AP and UB will operate on the new platform which is really cool, IMO, because it means traffic will nearly double right away. I will still be endorsing the UB brand not the AP brand. Even so, I said I did not endorse AP. I don't believe I ever said that I would never ever ever cross my heart hope to die ever in the future endorse AP. So let's say that I thought this software was ...

Re:Tony G's blog about Tiffany Michelle incident
Now that Tony G has brought my name into this I will respond to just this piece of it. On Saturday morning I got a call from Pokernews saying that the deal with Pokernews was exclusive. At that point I agreed to help get the UB logo off of her. When I found out very quickly after that that her contract with Pokernews was in now way, shape or form exclusive I retracted my offer of help in that regard and felt it was completely Tiffany's decision what she wanted to do, as it should have been from the start. I will let Tiffany respond to the rest, as it is her right. Annie

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Yes the calculations exist in a vaccum. But 6c on the dollar is a lot to overcome at only 75% sure. If you are 80% or 90% sure it becomes even worse. The other thing to realize is that you have to not just take into account the future equity of 70BB vs 20BB but also the equity of 0 chips vs 20BB. 0 vs 20 is a much bigger difference than 20 vs 70. The issue really is that you sounded pretty damn sure of Mikey's hand...if you were well over 75% on that it is a clear fol. At the 70% and below mark it is probably a call. With the size pot that we are talking about I think a 20K bet would ...

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Would you CR two people with just a random flush draw' That is really the question there...like let's say you just had a hand like Ax suited or even Q5 suited or whatever...a hand that was likely to only be a flush draw' If you CR with that against a bet and a call then I guess you CR the AKs too. But I think given the situation that looks too much just like all you have is a flush draw and you should play as if you are somewhere between 3 to 1 and 2 to 1 with two to come. In that case I like the overcall and try to look at a cheap turn to hit the hand otherwise just fold. Obviously if ...

Re:UB --- where the FUN never stops
That is an interesting response to my correcting Legggggy that I do not run UB...that I am not the head honcho. That is just not true and it is inflamatory and meant to be inflamatory since leggggggggy does not personally like me. Not only that, he also claims as fact that the site only investigated the 25-50 NL game and did not look at any other game. That is also inflammatory and jsut patently ridiculous. The site invetigated accounts not games and looked at any transaction in relation to an account. Perhaps leggggggggy might want to look at other factors to explain his results instead of ...

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Well I said you have to be close to 100%. But we can figure it out anyway. What I can tell is that you re sure he was not bluffing so, Harrington aside, you don't have to hold out 10% there. Anyway, you had to call 75K to win about 160K so you were getting a little better than 2 to 1. Against any hand QQ or worse that is paired with no Ace or King in it you are a favorite so all those hands are overlays. Against all bluffs you are a big favorite. Against a set you are a 3 to 1 dog. Against two pair you are about a 2.5 to 1 dog. Against AA you are a are a 2 to 1 dog. Against KK you are ...

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Mikey is not a big overcall with suited connectors kind of guy so I think it is a low probability he has these anyway. The key is the fact that he didn;t not jsut call on the button, he overcalled. That defines his range much better. That being sai, Mikey knows the guy will be getting over 2 to 1 here on the call so he is going to assume pot commitment from early position solid player and I don't think he is going to push the draw there. Mikey likes to blow up much later in touraments lol. Annie

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Oh...we completely agree that as played OP goes broke. No question since only Phil Hellmuth could look so deeply into someone's soul to know they have a set there and a set is the only hand you fold to. Actually Phil probably just folds anyway since he loves the big laydown lol. So...what do you think of the argument that the optimal line of play is the check with the intention of raising or calling or folding depending on action behind you. I think a free card here multiway is not a bad thing since the card works for you and the check raise is a much better way to get your money in ...

Re:How I busted in the Main Event
Yes, it might not have changed the outcome but that does not mean it is not a line of play that it is valuable to discuss ;-) The way it does change the outcome is if the play behind you is weird. if there are mutliple callers before it gets to you you can flat call and play as a flush draw. If there is a bet and a move in you can probably fold. My issue with the lead it that you are 100% committed to the hand after you lead. That is not a terrible thing but I only want to be in that spot if I am sure that at least my A or K is good. I don't really need both to be good there but I woul ...
