Article: Get More Out of Poker I've been playing a lot of live poker since black friday. I can agree that listening to internet players talk strategy can be nauseating at times. I probably give off an air of 'elitism' too when grinding live, but I've really made an effort to cut out the douchey online superiority. All the strat talk, and online lingo just makes the recreational players at the table pack up and leave. Part of being a live grinder is mingling with the fish, making it entertaining for them, and keeping the higher level thinking to yourself. Posted in: vBCms Comments |

Article: M Resort President Opposes Online Poker: "We're Pushing This Way Too Far" It's the casinos that aren't positioned properly for ipoker that are against it. MGM and Caesars have already partnered with foreign providers. Those other American casinos who have yet to react to this inevitable sea change are the ones that are going to be left in the dust - at this point they are only dragging their feet. Even an idiot can see the truth behind their 'morality' argument. Posted in: vBCms Comments |

20 Years old. Heading to Las Vegas in November, any advice? I sincerely hate these Las Vegas threads. You do realize there are casinos all over the country that spread 1/2. You won't be anymore baller just because you live in 'fabulous las vegas'. Vegas can be an expensive city and it really wears on you after awhile. A 2k bankroll is a joke and you should build it up before you make any illogical life decisions. Posted in: Live Poker |

variance or just bad playing in 6 max cash? Generally against bad spewy players you should tighten up your 3-bet range because they will not fold. You can just flat pre in position with most of your range (Axs, broadway, small/mid pairs, suited two gappers etc). At the micro stakes just play solid poker, especially against fish. There isn't really a reason to get fancy. When you do flop a big hand on a dry board avoid polarizing your range by raising his flop c-bet. I often see people re-raise hands like AQ, KQ on a Q27 rainbow, imo this shouldn't be a standard line because it usually folds out worse hands. Flatting instead disguises ... variance or just bad playing in 6 max cash? Even against a spewy player flatting a 3b w/ Q9s in position isn't profitable - especially due to his large 5x sizing. I'd much rather flat with hands that either crush his 3bet range (88+, KQs, AJ+) or small suited connectors that aren't dominated by most the majority of his broad-way 3bet-range. Due to his large sizing I'd pretty much avoid 4-betting without a hand you'd call a shove with. As played it looks okay and it's obviously just a cooler but this shouldn't be your standard pf line against a maniac. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

CNN wall postings. Every time the mainstream media covers ipoker they show clips of online casinos with virtual roulette wheels, blackjack, and blinking 'casino bonus' signs. If the media can't get something as simple as online poker right, one can only imagine how misinformed the American public is about just about everything. Good journalism seems to be a lost art. Future of Online Poker in the USA is this a level' you do realize private enterprise fosters competition which generally leads to lower prices and better good + services. D.C did pass legislation and they will have a site up and running shortly. You can deposit a max of ~$200 a week and the games only run during certain hours of the day. it's a total joke. we need a new USA rankings PLB/formula a US rankings system is strictly for fun. it would be completely separate with completely different criteria than the world rankings. no one is going to take it too serious, and it's not as if it's going to affect the foreign players US players would still be in the world pool too, that would remain unchanged. this would NOT affect you and other non-americans so I have no idea why you care. we need a new USA rankings PLB/formula the writing is pretty much on the wall that the U.S is going to be segregated from the rest of world (at least for several years) once legislation is passed. if p5's wants to keep US members interested in their forum it only makes sense to create a new USA PLB, preferably now rather than later. we're probably never going to have a 'world' player pool again so new PLB's need to be drawn up. we need a new USA rankings PLB/formula 1. most scores don't count b.c field sizes on the US sites are so small - this includes the nightly $216 high roller, and a bunch of the $60 &$30 rebuys 2. a player moving to canada still playing on stars and having not updated his/her p5's profile has a ridiculously large advantage 3. this is the way things are headed, fragmented pools, the rankings system needs to be tailored to each player pool - it's not a one shoe fits all deal Posted in: Poker Community |

we need a new USA rankings PLB/formula Online poker as we know it is probably gone. If/when U.S regulation passes we're presumably looking at a fragmented ipoker market long into the future. Is it time then for P5's to create a new USA rankings system' I realize one can sort by country but what really needs to be done is an entirely new PLB system that would be completely separate from the current 'world' rankings. Instead it would only count USA sites (or sites still accepting U.S players). The PLB would need to count tournament fields of all sizes since fields are now very small. This is just an idea. I think a PLB system for ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Hypothetically speaking, wwyd there's nothing I could do but move on and be departed from my cash (and probably mope around the house for a few weeks). I'd also be much more weary about online poker moving forward (probably to the point of paranoia) but that's really the extent of it. I never thought our funds were ever at risk, and I know I've told noobs on this site that they shouldn't be worried about the money, and for that I am sorry and I admit that I was wrong. Fortunately I've never felt secure enough to keep large chunks of cash on any poker site (to the extent that losing it would financially hurt me). Posted in: Poker Community |

moving to canada to play online poker 1. I would assume that every day you are in Canada will count as part of the 180days. In other words, I don't think you'd be able to commute daily b.c you would go over the 180 day threshold within 6 months. 2. You don't have to state a reason for applying for a nexus pass on the application that's probably what the face-to-face interview is for. They know I play poker for a living because you have to disclose a 5 year work history with your application. I'd imagine they would be more susceptible to letting you in the country if they thought you were crossing to play in one of their brick ... Posted in: Poker Community |

moving to canada to play online poker I was going to do this. Went to Canada, tried to open a bank account and failed (I was most likely discriminated for telling them I was a pro poker poker). Tons of other people have had success though. U.S border patrol also fucked w/ me and my gf hard. It's going to be really hard to cross back and forth without being searched and treated like a criminal. Your best bet is to get a Nexus pass so you don't have to hassle w/ being interoggated everytime you cross. I have applied for one and am anxiously awaiting to get approved, but honestly I'm not sure they will approve me. Such a sad ... Posted in: Poker Community |

When Will We Be Back Reid lines his pockets w/ cold-hard cash from Ceasars and other mega-casinos. Any bill he writes is basically going to be written by Vegas. I think this is a lesson to all of us unfamiliar with the political process that this is the true nature of how and why things get done - lobbying dollar$. Reid is both a hero and a villain to us.. but we need him to step up to the plate and hit a home-run for us or soon online poker will become a forgotten trend. Posted in: Poker Community |
