Stupid hand vs Pokerguru69 Depends on how good villain is... Im not a huge fan of the call pre, or the float on the flop (as i assume your not calling spesificly for the "gutshot equity". Simply cause you dont rep a very strong range on the flop imo. And thus leave yourself open to being barreled of your hand if good cards for his range hits and you whiff. As for the river, like i said it depends on how good he is. He shouldnt be jamming river unless he has a boat, if you think he jams strong T's for value then i think its a call, dont know the guy tho. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sooo.......here's the situation Short answer is; no you dont. Speaking from some experience and just common sense (at least it is to me) it is going to serve little purpose trying to explain poker in depth to someone who is not familiar with it. Simply due to the fact that not only is it really hard to explain to someone with limited knowledge of it, but also because alot of what you understand about the game is based on experience from playing it, opinions from others etc, which gives you a completely different foundation if you will than for her. To take an example, it is really hard to explain to a normal person who ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

hand from 75k I dont hate betting turn so that you can get stacks in on good rivers. Since villain seems bad limping pre, i would rather go for the part of his range (alltho smaller) that you get a lot of value from, in this case weaker aces. Alot of players limp weak aces and if they bink top pair usually stack off. Earlier i focused more on pot control and trying to get value from his entire range, but ive abandoned this to some degree and like to get value from the part of his range that you make tons off money off. (against terrible players that is) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

The gap between good and expert players? The biggest is volume id say, obv running good in the right spots helps a lot but over the long haul it wont make that much of a difference other than if u bink sunday majors cause you will get plenty of shots at running good in those flips. The biggest difference is the ability to think about the game and adapt instead of just following a system or style of play someone has developed and be able to recognize ones weaknesses. And as sirswish said, the edge is also big post flop, as most tourney players suck beyond belief post flop. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

late $10 SS 15k wwyd? Against total randoms here i c bet 1/3rd pot ish, he'll fold his air and if he has some kind of a hand he isnt foilding it on the flop either way, think turn bet is somewhat spewy and i think the best option is to hit the give up button. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Min-Raise Bluff lol.. these threads are kinda pointless.. the sooner you can free yourself from generlization when it comes to plays the faster you will progress as a poker player. Locking yourself unto certainties and stuff that is "always" or "never" something is not good for your own development as a poker player, as i think this really hurts your ability to actually think about the game instead of turning it into a system. Imo, when playing a hand dont min bet cause "its never a bluff", or dont react to a min bet like its never a bluff.. Use your brain and think, analyze.. Before min raising yourself in ... Monitor question Well getting a new graphics card for a laptop is kind of hard, especially a laptop that old as it wont have any options for external graphics. If i were you id buy a new laptop quite frankly, make sure its one that supports direct HDMI output and such as that will give you the best quality, as for tv monitors for poker, sure its works pretty well, nothing beats a computer monitor at the same size in terms of resolutions and quality but ive played poker on 32, 42 and 46 inch tv's and been quite happy with it. :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

JJ on a ragged board oop against a lagg? You say he is a lag player, what type of lag player is he' Does he call alot of 3 bets with weaker holdings, and just call alot in general or is he more apt to 4 bet if you reraise' Is his 4 betting range EP tighter you think' Now once we know this you can proceed accordingly, if you came to the conclusion that he can reraise you light here, then raise folding should be out of the question as it would completely remove any value from your hand. If he is the type of player to call alot with weaker holdings and only 4 bet a very strong range you should 3 bet for value imo and evaluate the flop, ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Isildur1 may have to pay US$ 150MM to government Well we pretty much have the exact same law in Norway, and it is not as black and white as that article makes it out to be.. Over here the whole law is a joke, it seems to be something they just have in there "to have a law on it". However, practically it is enforced differently in that you theoretically can deduct losses that you have and only tax for your winnings, of course this is the easiest for mtt's, and not really for cash, as it would be impossible for them to track 100%. Dont know if the swedes have the same thing but over here if you have proven that poker can be a source of income ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

LAG or NIT? Which better for cash games and which for MTT's? At any given point both in cash and tourneys (i am mostly a mtt player, so take my cash advice somewhat lightly lol) u should be playing the style which manages to exploit certain weaknesses your opponents have, causing you to maximize your profit against them. So its not just a matter of adjusting to your table, its a matter of adjusting to every single opponets every time, this is not easy at all of course and demands experience and good logical thinking and sound thought processes. Its like someone mentioned about not playing lag verse a calling station. It can be even less general than ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

JJ fairly deepstacked facing action I would say that the more competent the player is the more it is a jam, but i think its a jam regardless. A good player should be flatting his entire range for calling a 10bb shove here as raise here makes no sense whatsoever, especially not with the bottom of his calling range seeing as he then would be comitted to call a jam behind being destroyed by that range. Raise folding JJ here is i think horrible for obvious reasons, he will not 4 bet us with anything we are ahead of (other than maybe AK) and we cant raise fold with these stack sizes, so we have to jam or fold here, and as mentioned ... JJ fairly deepstacked facing action If he iso raises he cant get away when he is always demolished. If he flats he gives himself more flexibility because he will always be crushed by an overjam with the weaker part of his range anyways, and if he gets someone to fold JJ cause "he looks huge" then its a sick result, also its not really exploitable as a random in a 22$ wont do a psycho overjam with AJ behind knowing he can only call with QQ+ to iso the dead money, but yeah think ive said all i can say about this hand :P Posted in: Poker Discussion |

JJ fairly deepstacked facing action Then i guess we have to disagree as i dont agree with him isoing the weaker part of his range for 50bb's instead of just flatting and folding to a shove behind when he is always behind the overjammers range. And fwiw, i really do not like flatting pre. And also fwiw as it played it out i would have to agree with you on KK being a reasonable assumption. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

JJ fairly deepstacked facing action If the flat screams a big pair, then what does he do with the part of his range that still calls the jam, like 77-TT and Aj+'' Do you really think he jams 14k pre at 150 300 with those stacks behind him, when there really is no reason to imo. If he calls with those too u have to jam here with all the money in the pot imo. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

JJ fairly deepstacked facing action Yes, especially because if he folds he still has 10k at 150 300 and to him thats a fine stack. I think its a pretty easy jam tbh. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough spot with 88. What would you do?!?! Its not the most obvious fold in the world, as isoing here can get you alot of dead money and cashdumpstar can only call with a very narrow range, however, since u flatted pre it makes it less likely u have a huge hand even tho its possible. I guess i could dig either one if u think he is lose enough to just flat like 99 TT here pre, but i personally think id fold since this is pretty marginal. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
