Leet you are the smartest person I have ever interacted with; either online or in person. I wish we had people like you designing our airplanes, space shuttles, bridges, cars, etc. It is a shame that the smartest people in the world go into finance and not engineering or science. You've made some pretty ignorant statements in this thread. More CEOs and CFOs come from accounting backgrounds than any other discipline nowadays. It's an encouraging trend for accountants. Also, partners in accounting firms, CPAs who are able to build successful practices, controllers, tax planning consultants, etc. all make very, very good money. The pay varies from job to job so a blanket statement that the money is better in finance is ridiculous. There are many alleys that an accounting degree can take you down. Very few, actually, are like the "Office Space" drones ...

.300+ career average, 500+ HR, nearly 2500 hits, and he did it clean while playing smack dab in the middle of the "steroid era" which elevates his perceived value by the voters. Baseball writers are very political with their votes and they love to send the message that good guys like the Big Hurt who stay clean and still perform will be rewarded in the end. First ballot no question in my mind.

If you are a United States citizen you have to file a federal tax return no matter which country you live in. The amount of income you have to claim depends on how long you've lived outside the country, where you earned the income, etc. Once you've lived outside the U.S. for a certain time period (not sure the number of years) you are considered a permanent resident of that country, but still a U.S. citizen, and you pay taxes in that country, as long as you are not deriving any income from a U.S. business, property, etc. I'm pretty sure the tax code requires all U.S. citizens to ...

Naming a sports show...stakes involved!
My friend and I have a sports talk show on our college radio station. It used to be a 3-person show because the head of the station made us have an intern on with us. Next term we have our own show for two hours, twice a week. We need to come up with a name and I don't want to use something lame and general. I'm not very creative so I haven't come up with anything good. I need your help OT in naming our sports radio show. I will give an 11 dollar stake to each of the top two ideas, in my opinion. "A Brief History of Time" by SH
An earlier post about Stephen Hawking sparked my interest in him. So I'd like to read his most famous book: A Brief History of Time. I'm not a physicist. I've only taken one introductory course in physics and a the basic calculus series in college. Would this book be over my head' The origins of the universe and the cosmos and "what is out there" have always intrigued me. Has anyone read this book or other books by Hawking' The way the book is described on wikipedia makes it seem like it is written for the lay person, but I don't know if this is true.

I'm here now with a few other P5ers, and I believe we have been here 3 times before. I agree with most of the criticisms in the post, but we've solved some of them by not staying at the Wild Horse Hotel. We just stay at the Red Lion or Best Western that is 5 minutes away and much closer to stores and restaurants. Also, they have changed the structure a bit. The main event is a two-day $500 tournament. You now get a 10K starting stack and the blind rounds are 40 minutes I believe. It's a little deeper now. The antes are huge late in the tourney which really bites your ass. Oh well ...

I just looked him up and his profit is at $2,365. This is after about 5 days and 6 hours. To be on pace he would need to be up close to 7k by now so its not looking good so far. What Michael Vick did was disgusting, and he deserved everything he got (a couple years in jail, millions of dollars of lost wages, and even more millions of dollars in endorsements), but once he has paid he debt to society he deserves another shot at life just like every other criminal. Completely disagree. Some beer tastes like shit, but that goes for any kind of beverage. Some kinds of soda are gross, some kinds of whiskey are gross, and some kinds of juice are gross, etc. You just have to find the one you like. On a hot day I love a cold beer. I also like to drink it to get drunk. My advice is try different kinds and drink lots of it until you acquire a taste, like most people have said.

Clint Eastwood is the ultimate bad ass. Even at his age he still has that attitude of the guy that you dont fuck with. This movie really is vintage Eastwood and no one else could have played that part. The best part of this movie for me was when he saved the asian girl from those three black guys. The way he handled them, and the "paddy cake" white kid was priceless. Also, it reminded me how good Eastwood is and inspired me to watch some of his old movies, which = more hours of enjoyment. If you haven't seen this movie, then GO SEE IT!
