Bodog, Doyle's Room, Carbon, Players Only The UIGEA never mentions poker at all. It excludes fantasy sports, intrastate gambling*, horse racing, and securities trading. new Bodog Cashout Policy Carbon sure looks cool and runs faster than some other sites, Bodog for one. However, it's none too easy to deposit on Carbon. Apparently, there are ways, but the minimums are higher than some of us are used to, especially now that our bankrolls are frozen on the Big Three. Once the money's there, the question becomes will the games suck' What site was it' Maybe FTP' that had kamikaze sngs'' Sign up and every hand is autoshoved for you. The reason UB and other sites are still up and running I like what your saying, but the UIGEA is an attempt to defund online poker. It strikes at any fund transfers to online gambling. What is the legal way to handle payment processing under this law' The Republicans talk about defunding Obamacare. The same approach as the UIGEA. How do you play poker for money online legally if all your ways of depositing or withdrawing money are illegal'' The claim that poker is a game involving skill may well be a good defense. Full Tilt and Pokerstars Domains Seized The online poker provisions were a tiny slapped-on part of a huge Homeland Security "Safe Port" bill. Voting against this would be like voting against Mom and apple pie. Most of those who voted for the thing proobably never got to the "let's curb online poker" part. It is this deceptive pork barrel style of legislation that really bothers me. Posted in: Poker Sites |

Re:problems with echecks This article discusses the problem. Possibly a check clearing processor is not handling these deposits any more. / Ftp has Western Union. I'm considering that. The options at Stars appear to be: have a friendly debit card maybe All Access Visa, join Diners Club or mail a cashier's check to the Isle of Man, UK. Maybe there's an easier option I'm missing' (I have tried a few other PS options but they were no go for me.) Re:Need a little 9max sit-n-go advice. exactly how tight should I be playing the $5 FTP sit-n-gos This may be too loose for the first few levels. I believe one expert recommends AK and TT + for the first few levels. Super tight. I tend to play loose myself. If my hands hit or the table's passive, I'm ok. I don't even realize I'm too loose. If my hands miss, I soon have an 800 stack at 100/50 blinds and a table that won't fold. Bad situation. My non-expert experience has been that AK is often the darling hand of the sng. The players all love it and will go allin, call an allin, join a 4-player allin with AK. So, hands like AQ, AJ are too low to call raises with when ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Pre-flop probability in hold'em See or According to the second link, the probability of hitting a flush draw on the flop is only 11%. (And 0.84% for flopping a flush.) Then the odds of hitting that draw are 35% if you stay in the hand to the end. So that totals 4.69% (3.85 + .84) for the probability of any two suited cards hitting a flush, either on the flop or after. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:cash game material There is Harrington on Cash Games, Vol. I and II. I covers preflop and flop play. II covers turn and river as well as LAG play, tells, and weak games. Some have said that Volume II is more useful than Volume I. These books super popular right now, but I haven't put any of Harrington's cash ideas into practice yet, so I can't say where it's better than Professional No Limit Hold'em by Matt Flynn -- another well-regarded cash book. Book: Play Poker like a Pigeon? Has anyone else read this book' It is a opinionated, even controversial book on poker deception, written by a pro with 30 years of experience. I guess he might say he used to be well-known in the poker world, as he played against Stuey Ungar in a WSOP main event. No prize for guesing who won. Now he flies under the radar and has released this book anonymously. He does make a living playing poker. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(6): Why the Poker sites should stay out of the argument right now. I joined the Poker Players Alliance. I voted against key anti-poker politcians in my state. They won, anyway. It wasn't real close, either. The average citizen in this state with a few casinos may well think, "Leave poker to grownups (geezers!) in the casinos. Get those college kids to stop wasting money online." If there were no brick-and-mortar poker rooms in the state, people who play would oppose these politcos more strongly. Just a theory. Re(3): SNG Teaching Sites I just watched a video of a $1000 SNG at PXF. Bax was playing. He commented repeatedly how terrible the players were. One allin preflop was K9o going in and T8o calling. Yeah, T8o. No gap concept there. Neither player was a super short stack. Of course, the T8o won with trip tens. Lower-limit sng skills may be sufficient in a game like this! Re(3): Training sites? About a year ago, I made the ft of a low-limit tourney on Party. I was 9th of 2,900. I won an allin with a suited Jx. The other player shoved allin on the turn to get me to fold. I had chump change left, under 1,000. So I called, drawing for a flush. Instead, I got a J for a pair and won 70,000 chips. Training sites? I belong to some well-known poker training sites. While the record of the coaches is outstanding and the videos are well done, it seems that I'm often watching 2 phases of a MTT video: Tight early play followed by a random big-pot win. Loose aggressive play later in the tourney, where the table either 1) plays along with the coach folding to his raises or 2) the coach makes a read on a player, goes allin and wins. These wins are often suckouts -- the read was plain wrong. Sometimes forum comments are made about all these wonderful suckouts. The reply from the coach is "if I hadn't sucked ... Re(6): Poker players against Jon Kyl On trips to Las Vegas, I asked people if they played poker online. An awful lot of them said they do. This includes older people as well as the obvious kids in the Pokerstars hats. I was surprised that the older people played online. There were quite a few Party players; what they're doing now, I have no idea. BTW, here is a link to Jon Kyl's press site where he cites his accomplishment in getting the online gambling bill passed. Re(1): Cardrunners and PXF I joined both sites months ago, CR 1st I think, because of the lower cost. I play low limit stuff: $3 rebuys, $3 MTTs, $3 SNGs including multi-tables. The PXF levels are far higher of course. The trouble is a $50 sng plays different from a cheaper one. People at low limits do NOT accept the "I'm-table-leader-follow-me" style of play. You will get called by many players with anything. The players are too loose and their hand selection is any two cards. They will suck out on you much of the time. I just my KK allin called by 55. Re(1): Vegas this weekend... what casinos should I play in? I played in the Orleans NL tourneys twice. It's under $100. Orleans is not the most chic spot in Vegas, but has a large and bustling poker room. There is no way they have 3-minute blinds (Wow, just give your money away.) I read that the blinds increase every 20 minutes. Excalibur is famous for providing players who literally learned holdem that day. Again, not fancy, but profitable. MGM has a big, active pokerroom. I think the edited show showed mainly showdown hands where the cards became known to all, rather than a few of those "We think he's raising with a pocket pair" mystery hands that were speculated about on the live broadcast.
