2006 was "The Year of Off Topic" Why did Off Topic become the force it was this year' Why do I often go to Off Topic first before all else on P5's' I know it is partially b/c I'm a dirty old man, but there are other forces that drive me to this forum! Why does Off Topic have so many interesting post, and I often get depressed in the Poker Discussion Forum. Just thinking about the PD often gives me the heebeegeebeez. Here's to Off Topic, all the great posters and pics (way to go slugger), and here's to an even better 2007. Any thoughts on why Off Topic became the ON FORUM' Posted in: Off Topic |

Re(3): Please dont ask me for money...TOO many scams...ALERT? I think it is pretty ironic that he asked you for money and then gave you a hard time about it. Does that not say it all! Like he was doing you a favor' Few Rules: 1. Never lend money to a family member, make it a gift or nothing! They typically don't pay back. After all, they are family, fu! 2. Don't lend money as a general rule, to anybody. Unless you are in a backing program, y do they need money. Get a job, your not a bank. No matter how "impotent" lending makes you feel! 3. If you do want lend money to a person, first say no. See how they react. If they say thank you anyway and leave ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): So I'm Taking the Plunge... I have always found these post to be very interesting. It is not our job to tell you good decision, but obv we should wish you GOOD LUCK! And I do hope it works out for you. When I grew up, I had an Uncle who was a very succesful entrepeneur in business. He had no money but became a very succesful developer and is to this day. I looked up to him and he gave me a blueprint for success. I followed what I considered the blueprint and it worked for me. So I noticed that GP was someone that you looked up to, and I am also a big GP fan. He has been able to go to school, run a business, and crush ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): profitability of tourneys 2005 was a good barometer for me, I played quite a few tourneys and had great stats. FT about 7% of tournies I was in and ITM about 17%. Had a 2nd place and a 3rd place in Stars 55R and did pretty well. In the second half of the year I continued at the same pace (a little worse % for ITM) except I only would finish 6 to 9 on the FT. After having strong stats I ended up down about 5K. Why' My inability to finish in top 4 for a long time and as you stated "no big wins for the year! One or two finishes would have made my year, but it was frustrating b/c I played great and still ended up in ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

After 47 years of existrence there is only a few things I am sure of and one is this--YOU DON'T WANT ANNETTE IN THE CUTOFF WHEN YOU ARE IN THE BIG BLIND AND ARE BUBBLING A TOURNAMENT. Variance is a b-word, & don't become an MTT Pro if you cannot afford it! 2 out of the last 8 ITM for the Playa. One of the ITM went to FT in 4th. Ended up out when my 99 lost to AJ and finished in 9th. People asking should they turn pro. If they play MTT, forget about it. These are the last two hands that I went out in the last two tournaments of the Playa. Of the 6 out of 8 that I was not ITM, in 5 of the last hands I was 70% plus favorite when we went ai . So if you cannot take major variance, then don't! Remember that I am about 25% ITM with a return in the toilet. But I'm not a pro, and I also can handle the variance. Check these out! Re(6): unusual live game hand Here is what I think the answer to that is-it is not an anutomatic play. In a live game you get to hear the conversation, see the expressions, get a vibe and intuition on what is going on-and so that factors into your play. Based on what Thor wrote, I would have pushed pretty hard. But I was not there. I missed stuff that was going on that may have given me pause, like it did Thor. You go with your feeling. On this play, Thor got nervous by the persons calmness. He decided to pass as opposed to commit himself to another 20K to 40K. Although it may not have been right in this instance, it ... Re(2): New take on Green Plastic criticism I really don't understand what the criticism was all about. He usuallly writes great tactical articles. This one was about his summer in Vegas-interesting to hear how he was doing. In regards to getting his membership up through Cardrunners-that's a bad thing' He wants to grow his business, that's a negative' Not to me! GP is a class act. Re(6): Israel and Lebanon--a "balanced response" I stopped at this statement "But you don't hear me constantly calling Israelis terrorists, as you guys blanket label all arabs." After that I knew you were full of sh-t. A bigoted statement if I ever heard one. Calling others a bigot to deflect from your own just poor. I talked about terrorist and never mentioned the word Arab. Yeah right, Israel is after world domination, that's why Hezbollah and Hamas want to drive them into the sea. Re(4): Israel and Lebanon--a "balanced response" Dizzy-you are dizzy! Your comments go the heart of what I said. Hezbollah is a good organization cause they gave you sugar-forget they are terrorist and call for the extinction of Israel. Did you read the news today, all the bombs in a mosque. WTF. Yeah, they care about the burgeoning democracy in Lebanon. Why does the world view differently someone going into a Passover dinner and blowing themselves up and the 80 people in the dinner hall versus a military action that kills civilians' I'm gonna answer pretty straightforward and you can act like it is rambling, if stupid serves your cause. ... Party does not allow running Edge and they have only warned me the time it was on and running. Never been warned since. Thanks everyone for the hardy debate, but I'm done. Poker Stars apologized this morning for the reasons I stated. Forgetting I did not run it, the policy is warn not to run it not to take it off your hard drive or your out. Re(4): Poker Stars is a friggin disgrace-until regulated who knows what they are capable of doing! Beanie, historically gestapo tactics refer to a common phrase that is used for "strong arm tactics" similar to the one's used by this group not only in the War, but also in the period prior to the War in the late 1920's and early 1930's. As a person who has lost many close relatives in this conflict simply based on their religious preference, I would not use the term very lightly. What I misconstrued is that most people would not fully understand the meaning to be related to the policy of censorship in the 1930's. If people took it too broadly, then I apolgize for that reference. Strong arm ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
