Are you playing any WSOP events this year?
What events are you playing' Are you playing more or less events than last year b/c of Black Friday' Hitting Venetian Deep Stacks too or just WSOP' I can't make WSOP this year (although may try to hit a few Deep Stack events) and need someone to sweat/live vicariously through. GOOD LUCK!

Ummm...bigegypt?
I think you said it best - "there was no need for us to mess with each other b/c everyone else at the table was horrible." Why tangle with him at all (especially for most of your stack with less than a premium hand) when you could take chips with much greater ease from the super soft spots at the table'

not hating but mbn
It's not weird at all. I play almost exclusively small stakes online (like under$20) because when I play at home I'm distracted by the wife, etc. I do very well from a career standpoint in the real world and when I play live it's almost exclusively tournaments with buy-ins between $300 and $1500. If I wasn't busy on Sunday, I definitely would have just bought straight into the PS $5 million and probably some other events as well without giving it a second thought. There are WAY more recreational players out there with deep pockets who like taking shots than the posters at P5s ...

(Honestly) Can someone explain this button shove to me.
What do you think the appropriate calling range is there then' Obviously 10 10 is in, but if we know the button to shove wide range (even with 30bb effective stack), what should we be calling with and what should we be folding' And if the reasoning behind the shove is that is going to get called infrequently enough to make it +ev, why not just shove ATC'

(Honestly) Can someone explain this button shove to me.
Not a bad beat story (I swear) - I really don't care about $10 and I got my chips in good. Just curious if this is a play lots of players are making these days so I can exploit in future tournaments: 40bb open shove from the button with KQ off' I thought that the standard raise was moving closer to min raise or 2.2-2.5x - then I see this from player who apparently isn't a fish. Is it possible to build a stack early without getting hit by the deck?
In my opinion, hitting TPTK is getting "run over by the deck." What happens when my premium starting hands keep missing the flop and I just keep bleeding to death' I raise AK, flop comes J95...I give up. I raise 99, flop comes AK7...I give up. In the mid to late stages, the above examples change because 1) more often I'm heads up and 2) players still with chips are more capable of folding marginal hands so c-bet, 3 bet steals preflop, etc are legit options.

Is it possible to build a stack early without getting hit by the deck?
I play mostly $4-$24 MTT online (when I play) and due to the absolutely horrid play in the early stages of these events, I find it almost impossible to build a stack unless I get run over by the deck. Anyone else agree' Or have any insight how to build chips against people that NEVER fold' A few examples: 1) UTG raises to 60, 2 other fish call, and I 3 bet on the button with AK. It doesn't matter the size of this 3-bet, it WILL get called preflop by 2 or all 3 players. Flop comes QJ8. Every C-bet is getting called here so usually I just give up and hope it checks around and I get ...

Accurate assumptions when facing bad players??
Quick history on me: I suck at cash games but really enjoy tournaments. I've worked pretty hard on my game but only play relatively small stakes MTT online ($5-$20). I play much bigger when I live play and have binked $200-$500 live events either here in LA or in Vegas about 6 times over the last 8 years. I don't play many of these bigger events but my ROI in them is pretty solid. That said, I've found the level of play in live events of that buy-in range is pretty comparable to the level in your typical online donkfest and I'm trying to develop a set of assumptions that recreational ...

Main Event Final Table Sponsorship Deals?
What do you think the guys at the final table (or final several tables) got paid to wear those logos' I'm not talking about the guys that have long-term full endorsement deals and probably have to wear the logos as part of their contracts, but the random guys that make it deep and FTP, Pokerstars, Cardrunners, etc want to plaster a logo on their shirt or hat just for that event' Any P5ers here gone deep in a major have an idea' Nobody knows anything' Because I sure don't.

Live Tourney: Uber-Maniac...how do you deal with him?
So you guys think pushing the small edges here (despite being VERY deepstack) is the best play against a guy like this''' In my opinion, the whole point of deepstacks is that you DONT have to push small edges in the early stages, but I guess the risk is worth the reward of getting all those chips'''

Live Tourney: Uber-Maniac...how do you deal with him?
I was playing the $235 buy-in, $200k guarantee at Hustler Casino in LA last night when I came across the biggest maniac I've ever played with. It was a deepstack event (25k in starting chips, 40 min levels) and we were at the 100/200 level. He would open every pot (and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE) to 2600, 3300, etc with any two cards in any position. If anyone played back at him preflop, he would insta call. Typical hand: he raises to 3300 preflop UTG, every folds, he shows 93 off has he rakes in 300 chip pot. Or: he raises to 2900, someone ships on him for 18k, he SNAP calls with ...

Home Tourney Structure Help
I'm trying to set up a 2 table (18 person) home game NL tourney and need some help with the structure. Ideally, I'd like to have the tourney last 4-5 hours and would like to allow for 1 optional rebuy only if someone busts in the first two levels as it is a charity event and the rebuys will generate more money for the school. What should the starting stack be, where should the blinds start, and how long should each level be to complete everything in ~5 hours' Thanks.

Flopped a Straight Flush...Now What?
I'll post how the hand plays out later, but here's the big picture question: I know at the higher levels, leading out with a huge hand is very effective in disguising the strength of your hand. However, at the lower limits, I'm thinking its better to take the obvious "check to look weak when you're strong approach", because as someone said earlier in the thread, the ONLY way I'm going to win a big pot in this spot is if someone else makes a BIG second best hand. Right'
