Re:breaking your own rules I'm not sure if "rules" is the correct word. Let's say that in 98% of the tourneys I wouldn't raise with 72o under the gun. Is that a rule' strategy' Who knows. Perhaps self discipline is what I was looking for. I do have the discipline of playing within my bankroll, but that's because I'm kool before playing, or before having a bad beat. Thinking about it, I guess I have to live a disciplined life before I can play disciplined poker regardless of the tilt factor. So I do have my homework. breaking your own rules I have several rules as to how I play. For example, don't call a raise with a small pocket if low stacked; or don't call a miniraise in the blinds without a decent hand. However sometimes I don't follow my rules. I am not sure if it is depending on my mood or the tilt factor. I usually begin following my rules and usually when I end up the session I recall a few moments were I broke them. Is there any way to concentrate, focus, etc, to avoid these' I am interested in someone that had the problem and was able to fix it, and how' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this a bad call after the reraise all in? If you take in mind the pot odds I think it is a close call if you like flips. However, calling almost 20% of your stack with a garbage hand is a mistake I guess, specially from the position you raised. But the real problem with the call is that from then on you will be an open book, and if someone knows a bit will hammer you for ever. You'll probably open with any two suited, any ace rag, or any pocket and will hammer you with any opening hand. So taking that in mind, I'd fold, unless I was trying to build a false image. Re:ever seen more mistakes in a single hand? Well he did give his max value for allowing two free cards on a monster pot. If he had bet the other migth have called and he would have extracted more value, if the other folded he avoided that last bet, and if he checked all the way he was giving free cards and you can see what happened. Re:100 turbo +1 big hand ever call? Insta fold. UTG rasier that reshoves, and early position also reshoves. Your either way behind or a bit ahead. Besides you have a pretty healthy stack. I would probably even fold kings here. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

SLOW FINGERS SYNDROME Deep in tourneys I guess it is optimal to raise 2.5BB instead of 3BB since I will usually steal with the same result, or not' Anyway, I keep raising 3BB's because it is easier, faster, and mistake free, but in the long run I guess I'm wasting lots of chips. But, I just don't know how to do it when multitabling, and playing in a notebook computer. It is too much trouble, however I have seen other players also multitabling and making all sorts of odd bets. How do they do it' Am I missing something, or am I just lazy' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Shrinking bankroll What is happening to you has happened to me a couple of times. However having two horrible beats (see bat beats forums) I understood luck was a bit more involved than what I thought. So I developed a set of rules that has allowed me to keep a healthy BR. I keep a record of my BR every day and put it in a Excell spreadsheet, and plot a 7 day and 11 day exponential moving average. If my BR is above the 7 ema I play 5% of my BR mainly in MTT's, if I'm between 7 and 11 then I play 3% of my BR mainly in S&G's, and if I'm below 7, which should be your case, I only play $4.40 ... Re:Desperately seeking for VPP's Thanks a lot for all the comments people. I was never very interested on my status, but 20k to Supernova felt like reachable since I remember gaining around 1k when I used to multitable $1/$2 and $2/$4 ring games, but changed to tourneys early in this year. I undestand the 80/20 vs 11 months/2 weeks relationship, but I didn't have a high BR thru the year, but anyhow it does sound like a 12hrs job, and don't know if it is worth it. If it doesn't blow my BR it will problably blow my marriage.. lol.. So anyway, tanks. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Desperately seeking for VPP's I am about 20k away to become a Supernova in Pokerstars, but if I don't get them I'll have to start over next year with zero VPP's. How many VPP's does a tourney provide' I've tried ring games but I am not good at them, so I'll probably bust my whole BR if I try it that way. Any of you have any good ideas/suggestions' thanks banana Posted in: Poker Discussion |

How do you play the lucky? I'm in the late stages of a tourney, and I notice this guy hitting a lot. I mean, you can see he's on a rush. I read a pro's quote that said "I'm certanly not going to play someone's rush". I say he was lucky because he ended up wining even if he din't have the best hand preflop. But we all know that happens always, but I remember I thought to myself, try to stay away from this guy. Even if I'm zero supersticious. Anwyay, we ended up in the final table, lucky was the high stack, I was third with no hurry, and the others were lowstacked. 8 people ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Is God trying to tell me something? First hand 112 people remain over a 2,619 field. I raise UTG and get 3 callers. I shove after flop and this guy calls with nothing. He could only beat a bluff, highly unlikely since I would be bluffing 3 guys. Perhaps he felt he had 6 outs, but he made the call with the high stack yet to act. I could understand his call headsup, even if I wouldn't have called, but here this call is IMPOSSIBLE!, see what happens. His 4 outs knock me out. Second hand next day, 96 people remain over a 4,158 filed. I am in a hurry and have to make a move. I figure I can try to steal the pot to ease pressure ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

big stack strategy There has been a few tournaments in which I have managed to build a humongous stack in early/mid stages, specially in rebuys, but I have noticed that in most cases I'll seat back and become defensive and in a while my stack becomes a bit above average. What I mean is that I don't really have a big stack strategy. Does any of you have read a book, article, video, etc, on this issue' I'd surely appreciate any help. worst fold ever? This has to be the worst fold I've seen. This guy begins with 1,368 chips, raises to 300, leaving him with 1,068. I reraise 750, he calls leaving him with 318 chips. Calls a flop and a turn bet of 150 each, leaving his stack with 18 chips, and he folds the river keeping 18 chips and loosing a 3,150 pot. I mean, what cards would you fold in this situation' The board has a 9 high!
