Re:Is there a P5's Live reporting team set up for WSOP?
with everyone's access to camera phones and twitter accounts..... this is definitely a way to somewhat keep the P5's Live enjoyment going. If we could get some type of article and instruction guide once this is set up, then updates could come from the WSOP, Venetian, etc... I could actually see this idea filling a major niche for poker if done properly.

Re:vegas tourny schedules
WSOP, Venetian, Caesar's (only link I've found is on twoplustwo, but it looks real), Binon's, and Golden Nugget all have series going on with every typical buy-in and game available I'm too lazy to find the link, but google those venues and 2010 poker tournaments and you should find it fairly easily

Re:Is it possible to grind cash games in Florida casinos and be profitable in the long run?
I'm still laughing at the guys saying they beat these games by doing _____ for 3 years+ or even 6 years I think one person said........ Umm.... the agreement to allow NL games was implemented in July of 2007! less than 3 years ago My opinion, poker in almost any form is beatable. I'm not very good at cash games, but can beat a 1/2 game live in most circumstances. However, I do struggle in FL if the room doesn't allow me to cap my stack with more than 100. That said, the game is def beatable.

Re:Legal Help, OT! (housing/security deposit Q)
First step is to go to the landlord and demand your deposit back. Tell him that you don't care how much money you gave the other girl. The agreement was between the landlord and you (assuming you did not sub-lease from the other girl and you actually signed an agreement with the landlord). If (s)he rejects your request, then tell them you will be contacting the Fair Housing Authorities in Boston and allowing them to initiate an investigation. You don't need to get a lawyer. But, if you can't get help from the local housing agency, then you can try contacting a local pro-bono ...

Re:Just went to cpa...question about form 90-22.1
the account numbers question is likely okay to leave blank, but the address question should be easy to find on google or the actual website of the poker room.... you seem like you are just frustrated because filling out the form is annoying and tedious at times, but just take your time and realize that filing the form is better than getting caught not having filed the form when you should have

Re:FTOPS main event scandal brewing
didn't read the pages 2-12, but contracts (verbal or written) with minors are voidable by the minor with no recourse essentially.... the most OP can get is a return to his original state prior to the agreement --- which was completed when the $2500 was returned in my personal opinion (as a law student I can't give legal advice) the OP is basically SOL

Re:wtfffff tax question
although true, your statement oversimplifies the situation and ignores major consequences of below-the-line deductions as compared to above-the-line (which is accomplished by filing as a professional)

Re:wtfffff tax question
the problem with your 'logic' is that the IRS interprets the Code regarding hobby poker players differently..... gambling is not perceived the same way for one, also your 'stock analogy' is incorrect because the IRS considers money on a poker site to be similar to money in a foreign bank account. To avoid Int'l tax implications, it is probably best to go ahead and pay the applicable taxes on winnings (however, a good tax planner may be more aggressive in defer payment on money left on the foreign poker site, but that's another issue in itself)

Re:rush poker for PS??
the patent thing.... probably wouldn't hold up in the US, but I only got a B in patent law so what do I know anyways.... I think this Rush poker thing might be dangerous for FTP. This is a long shot, but they have effectively 3x-5x the amount of rake they are pulling in over a given time frame. I imagine this could really drain the poker accounts (extra spending money) of the break-even to slightly losing player. FTP is going to need to find a way to replace some of these funds with more freerolls and giveaways. So, I could see Pokerstars taking a backseat on this and letting FTP learn ...

Re:Making it rain on campus with counterfeit money
$1 bills is much more believable and probably gets a similar reaction. That said, this is likely very illegal and if they don't get you for inciting a riot, they can always charge you with littering or something similar. Oh, and the video thing might get you put on the dumbest criminals show, but without the video the whole thing is rather worthless.

I tilted after winning a hand with a straight flush.....
First off, I don't tilt! I'm the type of guy that shrugs his shoulders after losing with AA v KK. But this hand was quite hard to forget about.... My local card room here in Florida was having a little series of tourneys and the buy-in is $340, first place is $10k. Level 1 and the live over-betting "this much" donks are roaring and my table just so happens to have 4-5 of them!! I'm drooling to hit a big hand and get paid off, plus I'm a sucker for limping in Level 1 live tourneys :) So I'm UTG+1 and limp for 50 with the ol' 4c6c (sometimes I limp, raise or ...

Re:tipping tournament dealers ?
some clarifications- dealer's mark the 'down' cards at each table when dealing tourneys, each down typically represents a 30min shift at a tournament table and basically a portion of the tipping pool... side note that the 3% does not all go to the dealers, that is for 'tournament staff' usually now 'add-ons' probably all go to the dealers and all card rooms should have these, even if they don't actually give more chips- this is an easy way to guarantee a tip to dealers okay, back to the process- say 60 person tourney starts with 6 tables and last 6 hours, 6 ...

Re:Home Loan from Poker Income? Please Help!
I bought (mortgaged) my condo with poker money in 07. We had just moved and my wife was jobless at the time, also my taxes didn't show much profit so I used online data and W2-Gs that I had received.....Somehow, this worked, but I doubt it would now. note- my mortgage broker brags to his buddies that he got my case approved! lol, just goes to show another reason why the US has been faced with such a major mortgage lending and foreclosure crisis-- I'm paying my bills, but I could imagine how brokers pushed and pushed to get under-qualified people in mortgages that they couldn't ...

Re:Buying New Mattresses on Craigslist
ARE YOU SERIOUS'''''' Ask yourself this- why would they sell it on craiglist' First of all, the germs and bacteria that can go undetected just make me cringe... The ONLY explanation that makes sense is that it's stolen or it isn't brand new, either way you don't want it (possession of stolen goods is a crime too, just ask the pawn shop why they don't want stolen goods). No business can sell small volume at a discounted price, craigslist or not. My advice-- iKea -- great low priced mattresses. They produce and sell such a large volume that no one can beat their prices.

Re:What Should I do? Collection Agency question
I'm 99% certain, this is already on your credit! you need to file (not sure where, but its local judicial system I believe, just google it and research) a complaint against the gym and get this expunged from your credit-- a lawyer would be advisable but would cost prob $1k trust me, the mark on your credit will cost you much more in interest rates and missed credit opportunities later in life-- my wife had a $50 doctor bill that she didn't know about go against her credit, we estimated that it cost us $12-15k during the ~7yrs it was on her credit

Re:Are we supposed to claim rakeback in our taxes?
in the US all forms of earnings are taxable unless specifically exempted by a tax statute.... I'd lay good odds that rakeback isn't included in the tax regs however, like K1d said above, if you could get a tax treatment similar to a 'rebate' then you could possibly not claim the rakeback that said, if it's a lot, have your accountant do it..... they will be most knowledgeable and can argue your position with the IRS if the issue ever came up

funny thing is, when I was in touring Europe, we got warned soooo many times to be aware of child picket-pockets. In reality, their size allows them to be more stealth so they are big problems at tourist attractions.
