Preakness
Doubt he wins anyway getting beat 30 lengths obv, but could Went The Day Well have had a worse trip in a relatively compact field' Johnny V. wanted him close up today so both the horse inside and outside of him squeezed him back at the start. Then when he tried to establish early position he got shut out of the spot where he wanted to be not once, but twice in the matter of 15 seconds---then just wider and wider as the race progressed. Like I said doubt he wins anyway given how much he lost by, but it makes it quite hard when you have to start and stop about 4 separate times. I think he ...

Agree with him closing into that scorching pace, but if you take a closer look at his normal running style he is most definitely a stalker and not a one-run closer type--but obv on Derby Day where 75%+ of the field encounters some sort of troubled trip he was forced into that move. I envision him laying 4th or so today. I agree with what you said earlier about Bodemeister no doubt being the fastest of this group of 3 yr olds, but I think he is going to bounce to the moon off that monster effort in the Derby two weeks ago. Plus I think that one or two of the cheaper "speed types" are going ...

5- Went The Day Well (morning line 6-1). Send it in. I haven't liked a horse this much in a major race since I gave out Stephanie's Kitten who won on Breeder's Cup Day last year.

Yes. And when the Yanks retire his number that will be the second number that they have retired for two different players.

Did I ever once say that this was the reason they have been grooming him to be Mo's replacement' Why do you just make things up, seriously' Traffic on the Meadowbrook been worse than usual these last few days and it has you all wound up or something'

You're right. I was referring to rp that they have had in their pen for more than a 2 month period until they ruined their career. It is no secret that Robertson was being groomed to be Rivera's replacement when he retired even before this injury happened.

I never said that once in this thread. For ONLY his first season as a rp (b4 the Yanks ruined him by flip-flopping him from rp to sp75 times), Joba may have had the most impressive stuff that I have seen ANY pitcher have since I have been watching baseball for that brief period of time. He was basically unhittable. Since 2007 he has never displayed anything close to that kind of stuff again in his entire career. Also, lol at the velocity of Joba's slider being greater than Robertson's fastball. Have you even watched Robertson pitch'

David Robertson had a 13.5 k/9 last year. You're right, he doesn't really have too live of an arm. I'm done with this thread after this last gem of a post.

Seriously, do you understand anything about the development of pitchers' And thanks for making my point for me again--like I said earlier, Robertson emerged with the big club and was not a highly touted prospect, whereas Joba was the exact opposite.

L O L Actually please continue to post. You are at least amusing me while I have to look at that sickening gif of Rivera posted a little while ago. Thanks. What does this even mean' Robertson wasn't nearly the prospect that Joba was and emerged more in the big leagues than the minors. Where is there any sort of contradiction in what I wrote' Go back to playing devil's advocate, at least then you sparked a bit of debate.

He is the best postseason pitcher in the history of baseball, and it's not even close. When talking about the Yankees it's about the playoffs. You are an imbecile.

I sound like a homer because I am one, good catch. What gave it away' Was it when I said "It's a fluke injury obv, and I'm just hanging my hat on what TheWacoKidd mentioned before about acl injuries because that is the best hope we have and is definitely a possibility. Also, although it's so obvious it seems ridiculous to even bring it up, the Yankees haven't had a middle reliever with an arm nearly as live as Robertson's in Rivera's entire time with the Yanks. Do you even know when they signed Soriano that Robertson was barely on their radar at that time'

He's been doing this for 15 years+ on a daily basis. It's a fluke injury obv, and I'm just hanging my hat on what TheWacoKidd mentioned before about acl injuries because that is the best hope we have and is definitely a possibility. Although both Mo's orig reaction and Arod screaming while running out to the outfield isn't a good sign.

You do realize that the few other pitchers that he's tried to teach his cutter to have nowhere near the natural ability of Robertson, right' Lol, looked quick and thought that was a pic of Cobb obviously. I would have to agree with you on Wagner being the only other guy that could come close to Rivera in my original premise though, there certainly is a monster gap to the 2nd best ss also.

Good point. We're only talking about the greatest closer in the history of the sport and it's not even close or debatable in any way, shape or form. As a matter of fact, I'd go as far as to say that the gap between him and the 2nd best rp in the history of the sport is greater than that of ANY other position on the diamond, including RF with Babe Ruth which would be the only other position that you could even argue imho. You are aware that Robertson has been being groomed to be the replacement when Rivera retires, right' I mean Rivera has even been working extensively with him for the ...

Robertson is their 8th inning guy.......Soriano is their 7th inning guy. Yes, Girardi is quite rigid so I think he'll stick with that order, clearly.
