Re(3): Here's how important the vote for the senate is.....
On the news tonight was a spot about a politician from Wisconsin who voted to fund a study about the masturbation habits of old men. Wasting the taxpayer's money is a FAR more important reason for me to vote against someone rather than the poker issue. That is a perfect example of why you shouldn't vote based on a negative ad. The Congressman in question simply voted to fund the National Institutes of Health, and that ad slams him for every thing they spent money as if he had personal control over it. I hope his opponent gets run out of town for such cheap bullshit.

Re(1): I want a student (Edited: Sorry If I don't respond to PM's)
Taylor, thanks for making this offer to us. As an application, I'll tell you a little about myself, my life, and my history with poker. I've spent the last 18 years raising my son. During that time he was my sole priority, so I just did whatever jobs let me have enough time off and a flexible enough schedule to spend time with him. This obviously meant that corporate jobs or most anything else with true career path was out. I was content being a Dad. I coached my son in Little League, I was there when he got out of school, and we spent a crazy amount of our lives together. He's grown and on ...

Re(1): "The Vest" in WSOP ME
That was BS. There's no rule that says you can't wear distracting clothes. Just look at all the chicks in low cut tops. If a big name star hadn't complained, there's no way they would've made him take off the vest.

Re(1): Poker.com
The NL cash games are very soft and well worth your time. They also have freerolls that require minimal playing to qualify for, but have big overlays. No real experience with SNGs there.

Re(1): big stack poker
I'd definitely call only fraction of my stack off with AK, as you're generally a coinflip at worst and often dominating a hand like AQ/AJ/KQ.

Re(1): Question for all the big tournament players
I grind out cash games, and play MTTs on a regular basis. The cash games are great to keep money rolling in and to even out variance, but aren't my idea of fun. I'd still play MTTs for the fun and challenge, but I'd likely never play another cash game in my life if I became a millionaire tomorrow.

Re(1): Bankroll/ vs Limits you can play
You don't need to make money "relative to your roll". The roll is there to keep you from going bust, not to measure your wins. Play at the highest levels you can beat that you're appropriately rolled for. It doesn't matter if I have the roll to play $1k NL (which I do), if I can't beat those games consistently.

Re(1): Getting stuck then unstuck
Can't remember the exact words, but there's a saying something like "When you go on a $2000 rush, it's important that you not be stuck $3000 at the time". Not that I can always control it, but I now try very hard not to get stuck at the beginning of a session. This is especially important since I'll play all night trying to get even.

Actually, many players at $2/4 won't even notice that you're playing super tight. They don't see anything beyond their own two cards.

Re(1): Newbie fish needs help...
I 2nd the "Super System II". The limit Holdem, NL Holdem, and Omaha/8 chapters are all very good. (as is the 2-7 TD, for that matter) I do not reccomend Small Stakes Holdem, as only the very lowest limit games are as loose as is presupposed by the authors. For only limit Holdem:"Winning Texas Holdem" by Matt Maroon is very good, and only costs $10.

Re(1): wsop main event payouts and why i'm not happy
They could've made 1st place $10mil and spread the other $2mil over the top 100-200 finishers. It's not like the winner would be getting the shaft. However, they look at it as PR for the 2007 event: "Last year's winner took home $12,000,000; and this year it will be even higher!!!!!!!"* *even if we have to make it winner-take-all

Re(1): Players with families: How?
I've explained to my son that poker is essentially a 2nd job, so I need to be treated as if I'm at work. I usually only play cash games when he's around, and save the big field MTTs for days he's away. That let's me log out and do stuff with him whenever I'd like to.

Re(1): Weird WSOP Encounters >> Share them here:
Saw LeBron and half the Dream Team shooting craps at the Wynn around 2:30am the same day they were to play Puerto Rico. Saw a couple that had just gotten married walking down the Strip, then saw some guy try to hand them a flyer for a hooker. Spent an hour chatting with a really hot Asian lesbian who was there as one of the Bodog girls.

Re(1): hotel deals during main event?
All the Harrah's properties have a special rate for those actually playing in the WSOP. Paying $65/weekday and $120/weekend for the Flamingo. It ain't cheap, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than it would be otherwise.

Re(1): Pokerstars $20 180 man ROI's. What's yours?
I am 1/9 cashing and didn't make the FT that time. I have no idea how to figure a negative ROI, but I'm down over $150 playing these. However, I've played 2 $20 Stars MTTs that aren't SNGs. In the first, I finished 2nd for almost $1800 to give me an ROI of approximately 4000% for the two or 820% counting the SNGs.

Re(1): So I can kill sngs..why not MTTs?
I'm the exact opposite. I do pretty well playing MTTs, but am below even at SNGs. I think the big difference is the extended mid-game, where you're nowhere near the big money but the blinds are high and people are constantly getting knocked out. That period doesn't really exist in SNGs, but is what makes or breaks an MTT player.

What is the purpose of pointing out losing players' If anything, it makes them less likely to keep playing and reduces the profitability of the tourneys.

Sammy's great at hand reading and postflop play, so I'd expect him to do what he usually does: see lots of cheap flops and apply pressure when he's pretty sure the other guy doesn't have crap. When he does hit a big hand, he'll definitely get paid off because of his rep.

Re(1): True or False: Tournaments are won with Laydowns
Tournaments can't be won with big laydowns, but they can certainly be lost when failing to make one. Tournaments are more likely to be won by making a big call at the right time or by applying enough pressure to force your opponent to fold.
