Tough Spot with Top Pair? I guess I'm lost how you check fold that flop with TPTK in an unraised pot to a single bet. I don't think there's an overpair out there most of the time so I'm really only behind the three sets with 22/44 being the likely hands for everyone except the sb any2 range. As played I folded to the c/r for a few reasons that match those above. I liked the lead because I was confident I was ahead most of the time here and didn't want to give 4 guys a free card. I could see myself check calling many times here as well but I didn't consider c/f here to one bet. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Tough Spot with Top Pair? I was playing the WSOP circuit event 1k a couple days ago when the following hand came up, 10 handed, I think I have a tight agg image and no strong reads on anyone here. Blinds are 150/300 w 25ante, starting stack is 15k. 3 limpers from early, mid and late position, SB completes. Pot is now 1750 and were 5 handed. I look down in the BB at A9off no diamonds, I have about 22k Check or Raise' I checked. Flop is 9s, 4d, 2d. Check or Bet' I lead for 1175, 1 of the first 3 limpers calls (15k stack) and the SB check raises to 4275. He starts the hand with 26k or so and he is a top online/live ... High Roller Bubble 19 left High Roller on Lock, 18 paid. Playing hand for hand for awhile. Blinds are 1k/2k and I have 33k. Play had been fairly tight, BB esp I thought was more then willing to play back with a wide range if he thinks he has fold equity. Playing 6 handed I get 22 in the CO, Bu has 50k, SB 45k and BB 25k. Fold, R/F, R/C or Jam' Tyty Posted in: Training Forum |

Why getting a "real" job is important for you and your poker career. I would suggest Financial Services as a possible primary/side career choice for any poker players out there looking for a career opportunity where you can be your own boss and carve out your own schedule to play lots of poker. Most are commissioned positions but as a poker player you should be used to bankroll swings. If you have some starter/poker money set aside its not a bad consideration as an option to build a career in something while allowing the opportunity to play alot of cards. As a Certified Financial Planner and grinder Im happy to talk with anyone on here about career planning ... Posted in: Poker Community |

Las Vegas- What to expect? Vegas is awesome. Most casino's only have 1-2 and the games will be soft on the weekend. Places like Bellagio, Venetian, Aria will have higher stakes games and tougher competition. Grab a free CardPlayer from any poker room when you get there and check the NV tourney schedule in the back. I liked the one at the Wynn of the basic tournies. Besides all the crappy regular tournies check online if any tournament series are running when you will be there. Endless amount to do in Vegas check the major websites for shows, clubs, dining, pool scenes, etc. If you want to hike Red Rock is 20minutes ... Posted in: Live Poker |

Super Tilted! Cant change seats on Bovada.... Can't say I disagree with much on here but the tournies are still very profitable so that counts for something. I dont think collussion for MTTs is much of a problem, maybe cash games are more of a risk. Most frustrating thing to me is no synchronized breaks, so tough to grind a schedule without it. Bovada any chance of this ever happenning' Another frustrating thing is that your screen doesn't pull up when your on the clock, I time out over and over with a full screen but not on Merge bc those screens pop up. should I have easily gotten away from this? On the river I think you should know what your going to do if you get raised when you throw that bet out there. I could see going both ways there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Late in the Bodog 100k Thanks for the feedback. I bet 77k into 139k on the turn leaving 121k behind. I bet kinda big bc I thought I wanted to commit both of us. He check raised all in and I started seriously thinking I was beat but I thought he had enough hands I still beat with the pot odds I should just get it in. Oh yeah.....he had KJ. Flat out of the sb, donk lead with a gutshot, check raise all in with the nuts...easy game. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Late in the Bodog 100k Last night in the Bodog 100k , 25k for first with 13 left, avg stack is around 270k at 6k/12k and I have about 250k. I was moved to the second table on my first hand at the table I reraised the villian all in for 15bb out of the BB to his Button raise. Villian is the chip leader with 600k+ and seems to be pretty active although I don't have too much info on him. A couple hands later this comes up..... 6 handed, I raise UTG to 24,875 with A10 offsuit. Villian flat calls out of the SB. Flop is A Q 9 rainbow. Villian donk leads for around half the pot into into a 65k pot. What is your move ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 Interesting thread. My 2 cents, vouching may or may not have financial implications it depends on how the word is being used. I think Big Huni's update is the best thing that's happened hopefully this gets sorted out soon for you guys. Posted in: Poker Community |

Live Tourney Final Table Hand Last night I was playing a $250 live tourney with 115 players. The structure is very fast you start with 5k and blinds go up every 20min. Within 1 hr the rest of the tourney is played with an avg stack of 10bbs or less. So there's a lot of luck and a lot of bad short stacked play. Final Table 4 handed, 1st-9k, 2nd-5k, 3rd-3.3k, 4th-2k. SB has 75k I am BB with 65k, UTG has 150k and Button has 250k+. A bunch of 2-5bb stacks just busted. Blinds are 5k/10k and UTG limps for 10k. Button folds and the SB shoves. I have A10d in the BB do you call off here' If this were a good or most any online ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Phil Hellmuth: 15K Entrants in 2012 WSOP Main Event It's a great comment by Phil. If he predicted 9000 would anyone care or even print it' But he threw out a number that is possible yet unlikely and that gets attention from us and hopefully someone else. He isn't betting money on it he is just bringing attention to himself and the issue at hand. At this point getting attention in any way for online regulation is the best outcome. Bodog 100k, busting early w QQ Good info thanks guys. So I basically decided to flat pre with the intention of check raising all in most flops. Given that everyone was at 5k, it was early and he had 7k I was kinda hoping he was a loose bad random. I check raised all in on the flop and he snapped with KKs, GG. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bodog 100k and login issues I have been playing since BF, only had the login issue once and then I was able to login about 30 sec later with no problem. I have not tried to cash out yet but I will be trying to shortly as I finally have something to consider pulling off. They have a $75 5k turbo every night that is decent, a $50 5k and some other decent ones on Sunday in addition to the 100k. You get some decent players in the higher buy ins but overall the competition is much weaker dollar for dollar then PS or ftp. I also played cake but couldn't stand the software. bodog does not have synchronized breaks and you can ... Posted in: Poker Sites |

Bodog 100k, early w QQ I played the bodog 100k Sunday, start with 5k in chips and a mix of players. I late reg after 30min and this hand came up about 10 min later, I had no reads. I start the hand with just over 5k, blinds 30/60. UTG +1 limps for 60, MP raises to 240, hijack has 7k raises to 712. I have QQ in the SB, what would you do here' If the player was a known good player what would you do' I flat call, limper and original raiser fold. Flop comes 8h 6d 4h, pot is 1755. How would you proceed' I check and he bets pot, what would you do next' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

laid KK live cash game I got excited bc I thought someone laid down KK pre. I don't think you should beat yourself up folding one pair on the river against that line. I'm not really in the zone enough to really think if I may have played this differently but just bc it was KK pre doesn't mean you gotta call all in for 200bbs on the river when you don't improve, I wouldn't sweat it. If the "bill" passes, then what? Getting back to the 's of the OP, if something does pass and we do have a completely legal form of online poker in the US it is very hard to imagine prize pools not being close to as least as big as the action PS and FTP lost. I am assuming there aren't too many non US players that stopped playing due to lack of confidence. I am not sure which sites action has dropped more but just based on # of players online or prize pool guarantees you saw what, roughly a 50% drop' So the drop in prize pools and the current prizepools are similar to what we could expect for US players. Hopefully no ... Posted in: Poker Community |
