Fantasy Baseball Game with $25,000 in Guaranteed Prizes I've been playing Draft Day since NFL season. Mainly freerolls, and busted through about $50 in real money. Whoever said it was addicting is telling the truth. A suggestion for the site: Would it be possible to have a way to search what players are doing midgame without having to find someone with them on their team' Posted in: Off Topic |

ear won't pop. i know this isn't webmd.com. but... Sounds like you could just have a wax build up. Go to a clinic and they will do a simple irrigation. You can also try something over the counter and do it yourself. Posted in: Off Topic |

Interracial adoption? Although not entirely the same story, my best friends dad and stepmom adopted a Mexican baby last year, although they are white. He is only 3 now, so I have no input on what you're asking. However, what I do know is that adopting children of a different race will probably put you closer to the top of the list. They waited on an adoption list for 7 years. After 7 years they were 4th on the list, but the three couples ahead of them only wanted a white baby so they got the child. They couldn't be happier, fwiw. Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? As stated numerous times the purpose of the post was how low I could get the bet to make it a lock, I just didn't make that clear. And yes, he was pretty damn close to taking a 230 bet until his roommate talked him out of it. Also, I'm glad you know what bets he will take and what he won't. Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? Quite true. Well, he is a former marine and he is in fairly good shape, former high school athelete (nothing major), and works out every day. He is going to school on the GI Bill 1 day a week and not working, which would allow him the time to practice. He is also very competitive and has a drive to win everything he tries. So, do we all agree that 230 is pretty much a lock' I'll see him tonight and see how it goes. Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? I just suck at getting my question across in OPs. I was just going off of what he said. I really wanted to know how low I could go for a lock since obviously he is smart enough not to take 280. Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? Since you seem to have the most experience in this, what do you think the lowest I could go to guarantee a lock for this bet' Considering I think he might go buy a ball, seek lessons, etc., others have said 200, do you agree' Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? I'll see him tonight and try to offer the bet. He's smart enough not to go for 280 I'm sure, but I'll start there and seem nice when I drop to 250. What is a safe lock bottom range for my bet' Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? This was pretty much my thinking, but I really don't know much about bowling at all. I'm the guy that goes bowling, drinks, and annoys everyone else by not wanting to take a turn. I am going to offer him this and see what he says. I'm hoping he takes it. Posted in: Off Topic |

Is this a good bet? My buddy says that "Any fat slob can turn into a good bowler with practice." He currently averages about 140, and bowls maybe once a month. He says that in 1 year he could be averaging 280. I am not much of a bowler, but this seems kind of ridiculous. I am thinking of making him a wager. The rough terms would be 1 year from today. $1,000. He must average 280 over 10 games. If he wins, I pay him $1,000 + whatever bowling costs he incurred this year practicing (will obviously have to run numbers, I have no idea on this amount.) If he loses, he pays me $1,000. Is this a good bet' Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related I am not saying I am so profound or came up with some hugely unknown fact. All I was posting about was how one is so valued over the other/seen as so much more reliable in a clutch situation. Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related LOL No reason to lie about seeing Bull Durham. But it is a fact that everyone would want a .300 hitter up in a clutch situation when the difference is small on the small scale of 1 AB with the game on the line. That was my point, and that is what blew my mind. I am not talking about long term, over a season, etc. I am talking about in a time of a clutch at bat why one is so valued over the other. Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related I'm not sure I understand everything you say. And yes, in the long run it matters. Of course I would want a team of all .300 hitters. But in 1 AB with the game on the line, the difference seems small, which is my point. Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related What blew my mind was how everyone would want a .300 hitter up to bat when it counts much more than a .250 hitter, when in reality, the difference is small when looking at it on an isolated situation. Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related What I really meant that blows my mind is that a .300 hitter seems so much more reliable than a .250 hitter. When really the margin is quite small when broken down to 1 hit a week. Example, I would obviously feel more comfortable in a clutch situation with a .300 hitter than a .250 hitter when the difference is 1 hit per week on average. Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related Seriously never saw it. I thought of it when I read this. "Anderson added that while the 50 homers may have been 26 more home runs than he hit in any other season, "that's just one more home run per week, just one more good swing. That is the data that simultaneously comforted me and haunted me, the small difference between greatness and mediocrity." And yes, I'm ashamed I was looking at Brady Anderson's wikipedia page. Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related Absolutely agreed. And it wasn't such a heavy revelation, obviously others have thought of it, I just thought of it when I saw a Brady Andersen quote about the number of home runs he hit in his big season. But the fact remains, I think almost anyone would be more comfortable with a .300 hitter up to bat in a clutch situation than a .250 hitter. Agreed' Never saw it. Posted in: Off Topic |

Does this blow anyone elses mind? Baseball related I was thinking...a difference between a .250 hitter and a .300 hitter comes out to around 1 hit per week. Assuming 600 ABs in a season, the difference from a .250 hitter to a .300 hitter is 30 hits, that's roughly 1 hit per week. If this is the case, why does a .300 hitter seem so much more reliable than a .250 hitter when it really is such a small margin' Once I thought of this it really kind of blew my mind.
