Re:Straight and flush draws I didn't have much of a read on him. I don't think we'd been playing together for long. There wasn't much random button raising at my tables, it folded to me a lot in my small blinds. I had an idea he would call a reasonable 3bet with most of his raising hands, but that may have been more fear than true read. Tournament hold'em is very much not my game, so i didn't want to risk many chips preflop with 9 high and be first to act when he called. A 3bet plus continuation bet would have been about half my chips. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Straight and flush draws Thanks, that's what i was thinking when i made the play. It ended up being 9 outs, since he had just the flush draw himself. It was such a huge spot for me, the Sunday Million is sooo far out of my bankroll. I'll sleep better now ;-) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Straight and flush draws I basically busted out of the Sunday Million tonight with 89 of spades on a 56Q flop with two spades. I took a lot of heat for the play from the rail, so i would like to know if i played it badly and how i should play in similar situations in the future. I know my no limit tournament game has a ton of holes, so any advice would be appreciated. Here's the hand: PokerStars Game #40135936601: Tournament #285020010, $200+$15 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level XXV (15000/30000) - 2010/02/21 23:30:10 ET Table '285020010 2225' 9-max Seat #9 is the button Seat 1: boozhwaa (808274 in ... One lawyer/professor's view on the current state of the UIGEA This seems to me to say that the UIGEA isn't going to have any teeth when it finally becomes law because of the glaringly large loopholes. It indicates that online poker sites will have little or no trouble setting up legal, convenient methods of accepting transactions from players with US bank accounts. Does his opinion seem reasonable, or is he missing something important' Some of his credentials can be found here: / Posted in: Poker Legislation |

Re(1): poker and why i suck I've got the same problem. I've been working on it, and i'm not nearly as bad as i used to be, but i know i'll never do much in tournaments until i really fix it. It's especially bad when i've been losing, so i need to be able to cash out and leave. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Why does an ace high flush beat a seven high flush? In poker, all ties are won by the highest card. Ace high >7 high, AA>77, AA22>7722, AAA>777, etc. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): 5 card draw If you discard two, you'll have one out on the first card and, if you miss, 4 outs on the second card for at least a full house. If you discard 1, you'll have 4 outs on the first card, and that's it. I think that means you're better off drawing 2, but i could be missing something. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Instamuck as played? It's a 6 way flop that hits low connectors and low pocket pairs, the kinds of hands people call raises with in 6-way pots, very hard. I think that's why it's an instamuck. I'm guessing he was hoping for either no callers or a reraise behind him. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
