Re(2): Hand Discussion
BB checks with this hand preflop 90% of the time. Since you checked on the flop after hitting your set, I'll assume you were planning on check raising' I re-raise all in here! You've been playing with them so you might have some insight on their play by now...its a pot sized bet after 2 checks so he might be stealing here and the min-raise doesn't necessarily show strength. The highest card on the board here is an 8 so they could even be making a move here with AK or AQ where their A is the Ace of hearts. There is enough money in the pot and your hand is good enough here to justify an all-in ...

Re(1): Pot odds versus tourny life
I fold here because of the call from the big stack. I could have probably put the pusher on a hand just like he has...9-9 thru J-J and A-Q+. I'm not sure I'd have called just his push either, but I'm just not willing to take a hand like A-Q suited to war against 2 people with my end result being eliminated from the tournament. I'd much rather push with A-Q than call with it.

UB has regular tournies for this, but I haven't found anyone playing it as a cash game. The tournies are usually pretty good though. I am just learning this as well and having fun with it. 'Ole boy is right though...this game can be frustrating...good luck!

Re(1): Where are the best $100 tournies in Vegas?
I liked the Mirage's daily. The Tuesday tourney is $130 I believe with a pretty good structure. First place while I was there was almost $4K and there were 96 entrants I believe.

Re(1): Best way to play big slick with lots of limpers?
First, these aren't a "bunch of limpers". Its a min raise and a bunch of callers. Looks like you are on the button and both blinds have yet to act. You have position and plenty of chips. In this particular situation, I would just call and evaluate any raise from the blinds and hope to see the flop for your $400. See a flop and hope it fits your hand! Also, keep in mind that this "min raise" came from utg...this should spell danger if this is an experienced player.

Re(1): re-raising AK from BB
I played this same hand live at Borgata this past Sunday. I just smooth called and the flop came A-10-4 with 2 spades. I make a 3/4 pot sized bet on the flop and the other guy thinks for a few minutes before calling and the small blind folds. Turn comes a 10 and I set him all in. He calls with K-Q spades for the nut straight w/the nut flush draw. I'm drawing to 2 outs and loose the hand. Post play analysis; from the BB I should have re-raised to $5Kish pre-flop. Blinds were 300/600 and he was in late position and made it 1800 pre-flop. Small blind reluctantly called and I just smooth called. ...

Re(1): Did I play this like a huge twink?
You need to be able to let hands like this go this early in a tournament. Preflop raise was fine. Bet on the flop was a bit high, you can accomplish the same thing here with a bet half that size. You have to be suspect when he leads on the turn. A second 10 hits here and you didn't give him any credit for having a hand at all. Would he have played a suited A-10 here' You're only on the first level. How much of a read did you have on this guy at this point' IMO, you overplayed your hand.

Great article and thanks for sharing. I'll be headed to Vegas to grind out a few bucks for a week or so the beginning of July. I'll be railing some at the Rio and Bellagio in the main events. I'm going to attempt to win a satellite to the Bellagio's WPT main event. Thanks for heads up about all the douchebags. I think I'll be remembering that "Almond Joy" story the entire I'm there.

Re(2): Did i make the correct fold?? 10+1 mtt
I'm glad supermoves said it! At this stage of the tournament, you have too much play left. People often go broke chasing in early stages of tournaments. Save a play like this for the final table or when you really have something to gain from it. Supermoves also said it best when he said that "the chips you gain here aren't worth as much as the chips you keep by folding!" Bottom line...good fold, glad to see you weren't "results oriented" when you would have completed the str8. Thats another important lesson here. Don't be results oriented. This is a game about making the right decision...the ...

Re(4): Do you call this??
I think the action is weak all around until your raise on the turn. Weak pre and post flop action actually lets him into the hand with all sorts of garbage hands that may have been made on the river. I'm inclined to believe you had him beat on the river and he may have had something like a big Ace. I know you think folding preflop is weak, but it really isn't. You just have an Ace with the weakest kicker. You really need to nail the flop to continue with a hand like this. You got lucky on the turn, but you also have to realize that he called so you would like to think that he has something. ...

Re(1): How to play AK...
How can you play without paying attention' You stated you were playing 4 or more tables at the same time so you didn't have a read. Do you just play your cards on every table and don't really care what everyone else is doing' You are second in chips so you must have been catching cards. Sorry dude, but I don't think its even a fair question to ask anyone since you weren't even paying attention yourself! But since I'm here... I definately call here and see what the flop brings. He could very easily be playing big stack bully from the button and you have a playable hand. You gotta defend with ...

Re(1): blind vs blind situation
Sorry dude, but I think you overplayed your hand. His preflop call doesn't necessarily mean anything since a lot of people are changing their games. It used to mean he had a hand, but I don't think that's the case anymore! The flop when he check raised, that should be some sort of indicator to you that he has something. I may not throw my hand away here and I probably call, but proceed with caution. This also depends on my read of the sb...how has he been playing...bluffing...making lots of stabs at pots...showing junk/etc. I believe when he checks the turn, you should have checked as well. ...

Re(1): OMG..Can you say over bet??
Clearly he made a very costly and bad move...this is an insta call. I saw a lot of comments about the board and so on...all irrelevent as he pushed pre-flop! He has no benefit making this move, he has plenty of chips and lots of play left. ILS's poor play was Myhucklebery's good fortune.

Re(1): Can I get some honest opinions?
I posted a while back about being a winning player at higher limits. I challenged the "pro's" to spend a little time at the $1 and $5 sng's and see how that pans out for them. I got no response from anyone because it is a waste of their time now. I believe that even the best of them...Johnny Bax, PokerHo, Westtexasman or anyone of them would be a losing player at those limits! And mostly for the reasons you stated...who cares about $1' I believe there is some truth to "beat the lower levels and then move up" thought process, but the lower limits start where the money is of some value to the ...

Re(1): AK hand
Way too early in a tourney to push with this hand. You have lots of game left in you even if you call and fold on the flop because you didn't hit your hand. You overplayed this hand. A-K even suited is not a monster hand. Any pair beats you. If you want to push w/A-K, I think there are a few times when a push with A-K is okay...near the bubble and at the final table. I will play it aggressively if I am against someone I know is making a move and probably has a worse hand than I have.

I agree w/shark...just realize that he pushed w/A-K and got the result he wanted...I'll assume that he wanted it to look like a 'steal' and got the call he was looking for. He just got unlucky when the Jack came...I like the play myself and will use it when the situation warrants.

Very nice letter Chris and although I agree with you completly on the underhandedness of this issue and getting the act attached to the Port Security Bill. I cannot agree with the fact that this was a "Republican" act. The bill was bi-partisan and supported by Democrats and Republicans alike. I try to look at a bigger picture...and I am happy that the Republicans were in office on September 11, 2001. I shudder to think at the state of our nation had Kerry and the Democrats been in office. you can use neteller for all kinds of stuff like ebay and any other auction site out there. you can use them at a lot of stores and for all kinds of reasons. i don't think this will be a problem with the poker sites. if worse comes to worse, just have neteller send you the check and you deposit it...banks/credit unions don't have to know where the money came from or why.
