You're completely missing the point. If the movie had done a sufficient job, skeeze's view of Peeta and Katniss's relationship wouldn't be so basic. He shouldn't need to read the book to understand the dynamic and you certainly shouldn't be suggesting that the book is required reading for enjoyment of the film. That's not how it's supposed to work. I've read the books and am seeing the movie tomorrow, so I'll chime in then.

The fact that you truly believe this is proof of how ignorant you actually are. There are TONS of movie critics and each of those critics has their own personal taste. Roger Ebert does not equal David Bordwell. Sure, sometimes they agree, but often they don't. I guarantee there's a critic or extremely knowledgeable blogger out there who has almost identical taste to you, but instead you choose to write 'the critics' off as one giant opinion. If you take Ebert's reviews over the last two years, you'll probably find that he agrees more often with the casual moviegoer than the critical masses. ...

Is 2012 going to be the greatest year in the history of film?????
I'm not sure why you think you'll be ridiculed, any self-respecting nerd is highly anticipating The Hunger Games (myself mother fuckin' included)! Jennifer Lawrence is craaaazy talented and the film looks very, very promising. Literature wise, I don't think the books are anything special but I still enjoyed the hell out of them. I just wish they'd been longer and a little more in-depth - they felt really rushed and like they only scratched the surface of The Hunger Games' world and its characters.

Lol, what the hell' The only thing NOT awesome that Burton and Depp have done is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Don't get the hate one bit, especially for Depp. I can understand not liking Burton and his style, but Depp does other stuff and is almost always very, very good.
