is this spewy Shoving Pre or 3 bet commiting yourself, eliminates being OOP, so if anything thats a reason for it and not against. No one has to go broke on any hand, they can fold their way into a short stack then wait for AA or that dream flop and put all their chips in, however your profit will come from recognising edges other players dont and exploiting them. Recognising the range of the initial raiser and the MP flatter, and seeing a position to either take down a nice pot pre or get it in for a big pot with decent equity is certainly that. While calling pre is not terrible, its sub optimal play. I ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

10k SuperStack Hand - Why does he donkbet here and what is +ev for me? I think this has merits, but does not take into account that the part of his range we beat Ax plus a high diamond will semi bluff come over the top most of the time, meaning we will be forced to lay down the best hand Any weaker aces with no diamond also folds. All in all we fold out all made hands we crush, and allow all draws to semi bluff us while giving more chips away. I think calling in position and revaluating is optimal. The outcome would be different as the pot would be less bloated and all 3 players have more BB behind meaning we have more room to maneover. Plus in this instance ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

is this spewy Seriously'' We are getting 2.8/1 on a call if he 4 bet shoves over our 55K re raise.... this is horrible. forgetting the factors of it being a low stake MTT or the fact you have AK, if your going to 3 bet pre, what purpose is it for unless your going to call a 4 bet' You cant assign him AA and KK as his only two hands in his re ship range. If you get flatted then theres a million in the pot and you still call any flop surely' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is Ak an easy fold preflop here? I presume there were antes involved meaning each pot was worth $1000, which means that if he is a competent player then he should be shoving a wide range of hands with a stack of $3500' The fact he is competent gives him a wider range as he will realise he is in the red zone and needs to shipping his chips into the middle at the first chance he has at opening a pot....with your stack size this is an easy shove, your hand crushes his range, and in order to chip and win a tournament you must embrace these edges. Re:2 Big Stacks....Am i Really Beat Here??? The $5 Daily Doubles on Full Tilt is a very low standard of poker, the amount of random hands and all in calls you see where players show alot weaker hands than you put them on lends me towards the shove. IMO 75% of the field are donks but its not totally unbelievable that he could actually be a good player meaning his range is where it should be. With no reads as you have just joined this table you just have board texture and traditional ranges of how an average player would play here. You are not pot commited however the type of structure of these Daily A/B tournaments means you need to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:am i playing too tight? Not at all....the first few levels of a 45 man i will player super tight, on full tilt 45 man tournaments have no antes on any level, so theres no point in raising to steal unless its a value raise for the start and middle of the tournament....top 6 places pay and when ur drawing in on this its time to start opening your range an re-popping weak players. Re:Is it ever correct to fold AA preflop? The answer is yes and no....dependant on what is +EV if in a satielite there are tonnes of short stacks on the bubble and someone who has u covered in the SB shoves ur BB and your equity in a seat is higher than the odds your aces have to beat any random cards then you fold... As for a normal tournament money bubble or not then I would never fold aces, To fold aces pre to a single raise to make the money is pretty weak....get your money in with the best hand if you get cracked you get cracked thats poker. Re:This was reasonable, right? on these early levels in an SNG why would you play a marginal hand like KJ after a raise even if you are in position' Your asking for difficult flop decisions even if you hit top pair more often than not you will be stacked even when you hit top pair, down to the fact that most good players will only play premium hands on the first levels. Like the first reply stated when you call the flop bet on an ace high board when there is no reason to assume he isnt strong, do you think your ahead' Are you aiming to hit 2 pair or trips on the turn' If so your aiming for 5 cards in the deck and your ... Re:Deep stack tournament at the venetian near the bubble ty for the input this is also true and another deciding factor that of course I could be drawing to 5 outs thinking im on a race, alot of ppl at the table said it was a tight call even if i had read the hand right and the two bracelet winners at the table stated on pot odds it was a close fold, but would a player who wanted to accumulate chips to win have taken this or does it all depend on whether ur happy cashing' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Deep stack tournament at the venetian near the bubble your right maybe the word convinced is too strong but in several other hands he had been animated in telling ppl what he had then showing them and also showing several hands when ppl folded, he seemed a very open player, coupled with the fact that this is exactly how most players would play a strong draw i went with that, i in fact folded and he did indeed show 3s 8s, however my read or call it what u will wasnt the issue, i would like input, to the question of does taking a race here so near to the bubble if the odds are correct to, and if you lose it will cripple you purely relate to ... Deep stack tournament at the venetian near the bubble Playing in last thursdays $330 venetian deep stack tournament i came across this hand I would like advice on, i believe the decision came down to whether i wanted to gamble and pick up enough chips to win or whether placing in the money was more important.... heres the hand in question. 50 Players left and 36 players get paid and the average stack is around 60'000 blinds are 2000-4000 antes of 500 Player 1 (80'000 chips) limps in middle position SB (60'000 chips) calls BB ME ( 85'000 chips) checks ( Qc 6c) Pot: 15'000 Flop: 6s 4d 2s SB checks, I bet out 12'000. ... Re:Can you lay down KK preflop????? I dont agree with this, if you raise UTG with KK and get 3 callers then the BB could easily be squeezing and wants you to go through the thought process you have done, this would be a perfect time to shove knowing full well that the other 3 callers do not have hands big enough to call with (who would just call with aces after seeing multiple callers'!) this means there is more dead money in the pot and even more reason to shove Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:AQ late in the BB -- played horrible I explained above that calling pre flop then checking behind would have been my play IF he was a calling station. I just dont like getting to commited to a pot without a made hand. The key is had he check raised alot or does he believe ppls cont bets i appreciate you may not have this information to hand, but when missing the flop checking behind him to get a free card and be in position on the turn isnt a bad strategy...of course its easier said than done because once you have raised and the caller has checked to you, then a cont bet seems the best idea. So to recap, i would of called not ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:AQ late in the BB -- played horrible Its hard to assess the right play without knowing how these players had played their previous hands' Is he a calling station' does he like to call multiple pre flop bets as he has to see alot of flops'' Or was he a rock'''' In a $6 tournament u do get alot of fish and after calling a raise then a re raise then he appears fishy why not re raise the orginal raiser rather than call both bets out of position'' So he really could have a wide range here..... Re:Can you lay down KK preflop????? I honestly think you cannot worry about folding KK pre flop becauase of AA, for the amount of times they dont have it compared to when they do is very small. If they have it its one of those things, unless its an extremly tight player or you have a particular read (near on impossible online) then you have to go with KK, and to say if you knew they had AQ 100% and would fold well then that my friend is a losing play' why wouldnt you get ur money in as favourite'' if he outdraws he outdraws you but u have made the right play and he has made the wrong one. Re:bubble play I think if ur in it to win it you have to play the bubble hyper aggressivley I have only started to learn this and the timid approach on the bubble is the difference between going out in 12/13 place or winning it, If you consistantly get to the bubble say in 5 tournaments then ask yourself would you prefer to go for it and get top 3 50% and bubble the other 50% or play safe and get 5 middle cashes' In this particular hand the main question is how many chips does the raiser have' if he has more than you im proabably passing and looking to abuse smaller stacks, if he has less say 60-80% of my ... Re:6 Handed Live tournament - Hand advice requested Oh right so this is how the hand played out, I had posted on your other thread where the hand was left on the flop. I think the player with AQ has played this hand stupidly, at this stage of the tournament when were so close to the final table aggression is key, limping with AQ in first position asks for trouble of a weaker ace which would have folded pre flop to a raise out flopping you and thats exactly what happend, by not raising pre flop he never defined his hand so was calling of his stack in the dark without really knowing what you had, of course when he hits two pair he of course ... Re:Hand Advice Requested Urgently!!! - Live Tourney $550 buy in , six handed NL Holdem Obviously with the tables being down to the last two there is a different pattern of thought needed on this hand, as presumably the top 9 get a significantly higher payout the short stacks wont want to bust out.... so in an unraised four way pot second to act I would check raise, your hand is deceptive as your in the BB, the range of hands your opponents will put you on is vast, and could think you are playing a draw or any pair hyper aggressive on the final table bubble it also depends on your table image if you have been raising every hand then this is a great move to make it look like yet ...
