Re:Limit Holdem Rut Advice wanted Presuming you play daily for 5 hours each day, you've seen about 30hands/hr X 5hr X 30days = 4,500 hands of poker in the past month. I've had bad runs last significantly longer. If you're a winning player, it's just variance. You should take a break if the beats are impacting your judgments at the poker table. If you think its thrown your game off, then take a breather. Otherwise, back in the saddle! Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Strategy for 3 left and top two places pay the same Last night I was in a local live turbo MTT that awarded identical prizes to the top two finishers. When it was just 3 of us left I was the middle stack with an M of 15-ish. Big stack was a decent player with about twice my stack. Short stack, with an M of 7 or so, was by far the weakest player remaining. Would the strategy in this situation be to avoid tangling with the big stack and focus on running the small stack out, or do you try to grab chips in whatever circumstance presents itself' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:We are seriously in the wrong field of poker... I like to get liquored up as much as anyone, but this combination gave me a shiver. I'm pretty sure the only reason you don't puke that up is because the taste in your mouth convinces your brain you already have. It's at least 4 hours to the nearest casino for me, and they suck. 6 hours to AC. I play live when its available, but it's not very available to me. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:As long as people are coming up with new types of games... The home game I play actually uses that structure (blinds increase when someone is knocked out), except when we get down to 4 players the blinds increase every 2 orbits and when there are 3 players the blinds increase every orbit. They don't double, though, the BB goes up by 2 chips each increment (every player starts with 40 chips and initial blinds are 1/2). Top two finishers split the prize money any way the chip leader wants - but its a friendly game, so its typically 50/50 unless the stacks are completely lop-sided. The structure is designed to get 12-16 of us through a complete ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Almost impossible to bluff I love bluff-proof players. Had a table full at a live game recently. Flopped a top set of tens, bet $85 into a $10 pot and got called by two overcards - AQo. Life was good that day. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
