Re(1): NORDBERG OWNS A BRACELET!! (errr...a RING) HE WINS WSOPc Harrahs From Nordberg's blog earlier this month: "The last week or two my tournament game has been terrible. I've been playing higher than ever before (meaning more tournaments and higher buy-ins) and I just can't seem to close in on any big wins." Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(8): I Ari'd it Don't forget about the effect of the prize structure (i.e. winning all the chips does not win you the entire prize pool). I haven't worked out the math, but my intuition tells me that that simple fact probably outweighs skill with respect to the marginal value of each additional chip you pick up. Nice thread, BTW. Re(1): WSOP MAIN EVENT Exercise is a must. Do not load up on caffeine the day of (I learned this the hard way). Get used to the WSOP chip structure by playing the Sunday $10k on Bugsy's Club. Read Caro's book of tells and practice playing long sessions live as much as possible. Get used to the fact that most of even the best players busted out on Day 1 last year, that you will have to gamble and that anything can happen, bad or good. Just concentrate on the things you can control and play great poker. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Do Online Poker Rooms Implement "Burn Cards" The principle behind burning is to prevent people from cheating by marking cards and knowing what card will be dealt next. So the principle doesn't apply online. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(5): Stars or UB Please provide a link to the PC Magazine article. Please also provide us with evidence showing that UB's hand distribution deviates from random distribution over a statistically significant sample size. For example, something like "KK vs. AA in a 10-handed game should happen 4.39% of the time, and yet over 1,000,000 hands it has occurred ___% of the time." Mods, I thought this sort of stuff was going to get deleted. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Is the WSOP ME Beatable? You're right that there really is no long term with the WSOP ME. It's statistically very possible for a top-notch player to play the ME every year for the rest of his life (say for example 40 years) and lose money doing so. That doesn't mean it was a bad gamble, assuming he's bankrolled for it. Similarly, if Megamillions were to ever pay out more than $180 million in a lump sum after tax, buying a ticket would be +EV even if you never expect to win in your lifetime. If it won't bankrupt you, why not' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Macs and the training sites Back when I was a Mac user (February) I looked for codecs to run the Cardrunner videos, but had no luck. If you plan on getting serious about online poker, you have no choice but to run a Wintel machine. The good news is that now includes the new Intel Macs. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): What do WSOP Virgins Need to Know? All the advice so far in this thread is spot-on. The only thing I'd add is that this year I hear they will go with staggered bathroom breaks, so it shouldn't be as bad as last year. Don't underestimate how LONG each day is going to feel. Don't load up on caffeine early on, because you will be crashing when the blinds really start to do damage. I was a useless puddle by the end of my 10.5 hours. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
