MTT Pwnage thread
Before joining PP my two biggest scores were winning the mini step (from step 1) on party poker for 2k and 1.8k for a 2nd in midnight madness on tilt. Since then I have 6.3k win on stars and 2.6k 4th on tilt with 3 1.5k scores as well a long with a few other final tables. Tonight I made my biggest final table ever, surviving over 5700 players on tilts mini main event with a 7th place finish for 12.9k. For a part time player who ran -50% roi in mtts last year I am pretty happy about these results. Ghetto and Hersh's vids helped me a lot along with some coaching from Hersch as well. I ...

Open Raise Small PP- Rush Poker
Tony I think you should try out some rush poker, I have made $400 total the last two night playing 4 tables for about 45 min to 1 hour each session. I play 9 max and it seems beating this game is about as easy as beating $24 45s on tilt. I wonder if playing on the graveyard shift makes rush poker easier.

Open Raise Small PP- Rush Poker
Ok lets say I am playing .50/1 in rush poker and I lose some of my stack. Raising 3x is my standard. I like to open raise with my pocket vs just limping. At what point in terms of stack size is raising with hands like 33 or 55 not profitable. In one of my games tonight I got down to $50 and was not planning to by more, given that how much do you need in your stack to make raising your pocket pairs worthwhile. This is not exactly set mining but that is part of the charm in raising with these hands. If you flat a raise with these small pairs do we need to be $75 deep to call a raise. ...

Need some help with video selection..
+1 Give Tony's videos a look at (the first two a little too novice for me) they are kind of dry but have good concepts for learning the math behind the push/fold game. I am a winning sng player for years and I should probably watch Tony's 4,5, 6 videos again. The other ones Herschelw mentioned are more enjoyable and I have watched them more than once and they greatly helped me with my mtt game to take it from decent to being much more of a threat to make the final table.

short stacks 4 +5
I am glad that Tony is a better poker player and mathmetician than a typist.:p Ok seriously now when talking about reshipping or counteracting reshipping is it important to give your opponent fold equity in your range when your stack is shorter' We had a lengthy discussion on the BBP forum about shark365 who is the top 90man grinder on full tilt. He has 52% roi in over 19k games of 90 mans for over 150k in profit. Many of the regs see plays in his games which seem to be fundamentally wrong, like raise/folding with 13 bb. Is this a leak or could this problem be more complicated than ...

$200 weekly lim omaha 8b on stars
Has anyone played the weekly $200 limit omaha 8b on stars' Is it filled with fish or with sharks' Is it comparable to the $75 monday one on tilt' I have done pretty well after my lesson with nsinger' (KUDOS TO NSINGER and his coaching) 1st on stars $20 1kg chop for 1st on stars $20 1kg 3rd on tilts monday $75 4th on stars $5rebuy (it is messed up to have rebuys on a limit game) in just 20 tourneys. 38 are these stats after 20 games more reliable in limit omaha 8b than it would be in no limit with averaging abouit 80 peeps per tourney.

Pre antes - Shoving Range with like 10 BB in this spot.
I think you need to add your skill as a factor on your strategy. I am good at playing a shortstack in these and surviving, picking my spots and getting in 60%+ equity spots. In a $10 45 on tilt if I get heads up and I am at a 2 to 1 chip disadvantage I think I am still a favorite as I pwn most of those players heads up. My record there is 34-14. I dont need as many chips, I just need to survive. Compare that to the $75 45s my record is only 19-16 heads up. Going for more chips there is probably more worth while as $75 45 chips will be worth more to me heads up than the $10 45 chips. If ...

Looking for Advice (bankroll for Full Tilt steps + recc. videos)
If you want to go from step 1 to step 7 you must be a good player. I have decided to play 100 step 1s on full tilt I want to see how much value I have in them. This is definitely not worth my time ($/hr wise) but I am doing it for fun. The super turbos have good money by a smaller rake but they are too volatile to play for profits I think. The heads ups are soft, I have won 3 step 2 in 4 tries. I think the 9man and the 18 man ones are good. If you only have $250 in your bankroll then I would only play the steps to step 3 then you can play a $24 45, but EJ is right you should not ...

45 Man SNG Structure Implications
What do the differences of the Full Tilt and Pokerstars 45 man sngs imply on "correct" strategy' The pay out structure has implications. For this discussion I will use the $10+1 45s on tilt and $11+1 45 turbos on stars (in buy ins not in cash, including the rake). Full Tilt (buy ins) 1st 15.5 2nd 10.2 3rd 6.5 4th 4.1 5th 2.5 6th 2.0 Pokerstars (buy ins) 1st 12.8 2nd 9.2 3rd 6.4 4th 4.6 5th 3.7 6th 2.8 7th 1.8 Full Tilt has 6 min blinds and the Stars turbos have 5 min blinds but the structures are much different. Comparisons in blinds every ten minutes Tilt/Stars 0min 15/30 ...

Pre antes - Shoving Range with like 10 BB in this spot.
I agree with the stars pay out structure but the blind ante and turbo structure means getting blinded away faster. Does that not mean you have to be more aggressive or am I wrong about that idea' On Tilt I am comfortable to sometimes get as low as 3 to 4 bb because the structure gives you more play and you dont need as many chips as people might think. I think I am going to start a new thread 45 man sng structure implications which discusses the difference between full tilt 45s and pokerstars 45 turbos.

Pre antes - Shoving Range with like 10 BB in this spot.
I tend to play my game by feel, sometimes I make a play and sometimes i wont. I think this may be more unpredictable since I dont know what I do until I do it. I think in these everything is situational. I asked for the perfect 3bet structure and Herschelw said there were too many factors to make give an answer. Pushing marginal spots may be the same type of thing. There are many factors making my decision making that sometimes we make a play and sometimes we dont. I was playing a 45 with a top 20 sharkscope player. I view him as pretty tight. He had just under 10 bb on the final ...

Pre antes - Shoving Range with like 10 BB in this spot.
Ya I definately understand not wanting bigger aces to call you but in these 45s on stars you are pushing for fold equity and hope get 42%(that number is a guess) equity when you get called. Early on in the the tournaments on tilt I will just flat with hands like AQ or 10s in position because I dont want to build a huge pot and get knocked out early. Do you think on stars you should play those hands faster because gaining chips are more important in a fast structure than balancing surviving and gaining chips'

Pre antes - Shoving Range with like 10 BB in this spot.
The bulk of my play and the bulk of my win is on the 45 man sngs on Full Tilt. The major difference between tilts and stars turbos are teh structure nad the time. I believe the hands that you talk about are +ev. I think on tilt, especially without antes, I think you want to be more patient and let yourself get blinded more often. On stars I think you need to be more aggressive and try to get more chips as your M for the same BB will be lower. If you are going to make an error I would make an error on the side of aggression on stars. It looks like you are playing on stars so you need ...

Another Milestone after PP
I made my first $50 (or higher) final table tonight, I actually ran good over all. I am still down over 10k in tourneys over $16 but this was a good start to get back in the red. I have been mostly playing $10 mtts lately to practice (and keep a +ev) so this tourney on a whim was nice. I got 3rd (got unlucky to have a turn Ace ruin my QQ), but I am happy for the breahthrough. I just want to thank ghetto and hersch for their videos and a special thanks to Herschelw for his coaching sessions.

How do you play these hands?
I think I do exactly what you did in both of those hands. I think there might be an argument to protect you position with 50 left and call both of those hands and just call, but I think you probably played those hands the best way, I would have gone broke too. I like to play your AQ hand with 3 hearts on board very fast or very slow

JJ vs min3bet
This makes a call on the end mandatory. Making Hero folds in low stakes does not make sense when you have dumb opponents. You could be beat but the other guy could have a weaker ace or air. If you have a hand like QQ then you probably have to lay it down or maybe Ax but not AK. I have played a lot of $10 sngs and tourneys over my poker career and they do crazy stuff and laying down AK with top pair is bad without overwhelming evidence to the contrary and the raise on teh river does not equal that.

JJ vs min3bet
with having half of your stack in the pot already and having top pair top kicker I dont know if I give up here. You are getting 3 to 1 odds on your money and I would have to figure you would probably win half the time. Since it is starting with 1500 chips I assume you not playing against geniuses. If you are going to call a reraise on the river in this situation then I think checking the river is the right play. I think the guy could have an unpaired ace or busted flush draw or air enough to make the call profitable. I think you are better off with 3k chips 30% time busted 70% time ...

Stack Sizes and perfect 3bet and 4bet sizes
In terms of big blinds what is the perfect amount for 3 and 4bets, i generally play this by feel but I want to know what the experts think. (assume you are deep enought to not have to push) example raise to 3x to 3bet to 10x and 4bet to 25x so what are the perfect 3bets and 4bets for these raises to: 3x 2.5x 2x hands with antes (assume 9 handes and antes appox = 1bb) 4x 3x 2.5x 2.2x 2x

Fold top set on flop?
I think I should have folded top set here and not lead out either. I have 3,6,6,Q in bb on 3/6 lim o8 flop 6,3,2 rainbow I am in bb against 2 limpers what should I do' A. check/fold B. check/call C. bet/fold D. bet/call (if you call do you call on turn if no pair) E. check/raise I choose B. and and called all the I think if choosing b i should have folded on teh turn rather than losing $12. I won $87 bucks playing for about 5 or 6 hours tonight but I think I left $30 to $40 on the table chasing bad.

Final Table Equity
My profit games are 45man sng, one of the methods I use to judge performance is games per win. In $10-$24 games good players win about 1 in 20-25 games In the $75 games it is about 1in 30. In stars 180s it is about 1 in 90. So win percent is about twice if you played the number in the field twice. Cash% is pretty much a useless stat for looking at performance for large field mtts. The stat I am thinking of compiling is Final Table Equity and final 3 equity. F.T.E. of a tourney is compiled by 9(or6)/#entrants, pretty simple. I add that up for all of my tourneys it is will balance my FTE ...

Lesson from Nsinger today on lim o8b
I had a lesson on limit o8b today from Nathan and I was very happy about it. He helped clarify how I want to play some hands, like raise or call. He probably helped with some chasing leaks too. He also gave expert advice on when to raise to force better hands to fold. I played in the $20 limit omah hl tourney on stars tonight with 83 players and shipped it. Thanks Nathan:)
