Re:pot limit omaha hilow cash game strategy You can raise that hand from MP on. Not raising enough preflop is a huge leak most players have. I understand the thoughts behind just limping, but if you look deeper into it you see why you want to raise more. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

ICM question I've been building a spreadsheet of various scenarios varying the number of players, blinds, chip stack sizes. I've been primarily using this website that someone on 2+2 pointed out to me: This will calculate push-call-fold ranges for the +0EV breakpoint. I've also been using SNGEGT (I purchased the $100 version) Using SNGEGT you can put in the +%EV gain you want and it will calcuate the ranges accordingly. It defaults to +.5% EV. This makes sense because if you make decisions at the 0 EV point you're basically coinflipping. And against bad players why shove when you're ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): what am i doing wrong in cash games? Hand 2 everyone checked the flop and the turn and I thought I could pick up the pot. Hand 1 I was hoping the guy had a K and I could get him all in. I wasn't counting on calling all that money going for the runner runner flush. As for sng's I know I can get better results in them right now but I'm determined to figure this cash game thing out. what am i doing wrong in cash games? I've been a solid SNG player, with a 17% roi on FT according to Sharkscope. I've been trying to transition to cash games because I have a baby now and I don't always have 1 hour+ to sit and play. I've starting playing .10/25 nl. So far I've lost $98.95 over 2764 hands, for -14.3 bb's per hand. The only obvious leak I've noticed in my play has been calling some decent size river bets with decent to marginal hands and running into big hands and not catching any bluffs. According to my poker tracker my VPIP is 16.88%, preflop raising is 6.98%, and my total aggression factor is 3.06. According ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Vegas and $500 $400 on 20/40 limit, 10 bb's is plenty. $100 for 2 hookers at once downtown. Gamble away the $400 first because the hookers will probably try to rob you. But seriously, 3/6 limit or 1/2 nl late night at the Mirage. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Omaha Hi/Lo, your play? You should never have called the $4 preflop. That is a terrible hand to play UTG, or even in late position for that matter. Your A is not suited, and you don't have a credible low draw. Calling the raise was even worse. Postflop you have to fold here. You have 9 outs to make your straight, and the 2nd nut flush. That would be a good draw in hold'em, but not in O8B. You may not make your straight at all, the villian could have the nut flush draw, or could he have trips (AA likely) and be drawing to a full house. Calling or shoving the flop is big time -EV here. Unfortunately I know this ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): 1st time going to a casino on Sunday, any tips? The most important thing is to cultivate an image at the table that will get you respect. Without the respect of the table you will not be a winning player. Wear a hat. Wear sunglasses. Wear every piece of man jewelry you have. Some people will be jerks. If someone gives you shit, get up in their face and offer to take it outside, then they should back down. If someone reraises you stand up and pace around talking to yourself, keep mumbling something like "what is going on here' Don't they know who I am'". Re(2): Is Negreanu the G.O.A.T? I didn't start playing until 2003 so I don't know what the play was like back in the day. But it seems like nowadays people understand the math of the game a lot better than even the good players did back then. There are also better resources to understand tournament strategy, like HOH. People can now also see a lot more hands multi-tabling online where any game is available at almost any time, and practice end game strategy playing SNG's. I just have to think that it's a lot tougher to beat a field of 500+ now than to beat a field of 20 sharks and another 20 drunken Texas oilmen in the 70's. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

how do you get past the 2nd hour of mtt's? I need help. I have a decent ROI on SNG's, but suck at MTT's. I almost always get through the first break, and then bust sometime before the 2nd break. I typically get through about 2/3 of the field, rarely cash, and not even getting close to FTs. I play a fairly tight game, but don't let my M get below 5. When I do push with M 5-8 I always seem to get busted by people calling with K9 or K10. Tightening up doesn't seem like a good idea, because I'm already pretty tight. Pushing sooner or with weaker hands doesn't seem like a good idea either because so many players have a huge calling range. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): softest sngs? I haven't found bubble play on Full Tilt to be significantly tighter than UB or Stars ($5, $10 & $20's). But if it is I would consider that an advantage because it' easier to steal blinds. Your ROI should be higher than normal if your opponents aren't pushing when they should be. If the players are tight enough you can also min raise instead of pushing without risking too many chips and lay it down if they play back at you. They have to be really tight though for that play to make sense. I appreciate any comments from the better players on this. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): How do the top guys play this AKs? I think flat call is clearly the best play. Your M is almost 20 so you have enough chips to play after the flop, even when your M drops to 10 at the next level you still won't be desparate. Your best case scenario is he was AQ or AJ and calls, although he has to be pretty loose to do that. You're a coin flip vs. any under pair, and why would you want to play a coin flip for all of your chips here' If you believe you're one of the better players in the tournament then you want to play post flop. If you miss the flop and he makes a continuation bet of 1/2 the pot you can flat call him and you ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

chopping the blinds in live limit hold'em When should you agree to chop the blinds in a live game if it is folded around' Everyone at the casino agreed that you should always chop even if you have AA, because only playing heads up the 10% rake will eat up too much of the value. There was a hand where I was in the SB with KQos in a 3-6 game and it was folded around. I figured I had an above average hand so I raised. BB called and the flop came Q-6-3. I bet the flop and got called again. Turn was an A, another bet and call. River was a blank, I checked, he bet and I called. He had A-J and I lost $21. Where did I go wrong here' Should ...
