Joining New Site in USA First of all, I apologize if this has been covered at length but I didn't bother to look. Living in the USA, what sites take a VISA card when you join to deposit funds to your account without so much as a phonecall' Are there any or do all sites require some sort of verification other than entering your card info in' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is this an awful laydown? I agree that the biggest mistake in this scenario was getting this low. A couple of factors went into getting so low. First, the levels are 10 minutes so blinds are increasing at a quicker pace than usual. Also, the flat caller behind me was an absolute maniac on the bubble and I literally had zero spots to open a pot unless I was UTG for the last several orbits. Thanks everyone for the advice. Is this an awful laydown? The bubble just burst on the Pokerstars $11 200k guaranteed. There are around 4000 people left and the next payjump is another 3000 people away. My FE is going to be zero in another orbit. Should I just gamble with the ducks here and hopefully triple up or try and play the short stack, looking for a better spot' PokerStars Game #24735259558: Tournament #137801210, $10+$1 Hold'em No Limit - Level XIV (800/1600) - 2009/02/08 18:03:21 ET Table '137801210 162' 9-max Seat #4 is the button Seat 1: bigB0BB (16044 in chips) Seat 2: ajs347 (2922 in chips) is sitting out Seat 3: r6zuma ... Re:Would you fold or call pre flop with JJ? I folded... The blinds are at 50/100 when the hand takes place DAWS. I don't know what $5 MTT this is, but I am nearly certain that the bubble is at least another hour or two away at that point. With a 70 bb stack, you can afford hits to your stack when you attempt to 3 bet and steal while chipping up without showing down. Basically it all comes down to whether or not you want to GAMBLE. I would still fold most of the time. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Would you fold or call pre flop with JJ? I folded... The situation is marginal without a read. Obviously if the squeezer is a maniac, then JJ is well ahead of his range. But you also have the flat caller to worry about, who could be trappy and flat you with a big hand, including AA, KK and apparently QQ. I think that with that stack you can dump the jacks and find spots to chip up while avoiding showdowns. If you want to gamble, then it's a marginal situation to try and get a big stack. Also, how well will you play your 120 bb stack' Are you the type of player who will punish the table with your chips or sit back and protect your stack' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Would you fold or call pre flop with JJ? I folded... Fold. You still have around 70 bbs when you do, as opposed to calling more than half your stack off in a situation where IMO you are flipping/dominated a vast majority of the time. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:SB play in SNG's Alot of the decisions you will make depend on several factors including the strength of your opponent in the BB, your stack, his stack, the blind level, and your hand strength. My strategy in 9 man SNGs is to raise hands for value early, and occasionally (10-20% of the time) open limp a playable hand if my opponent is weak and we both are relatively deep. Fold your trash early, and as you get towards the late stages, you should be opening a wider range of hands. I also avoid opening with hands that i won't call a shove with when i have an awkward stack of around 15 bbs and am likely to be ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:How else could I have played this? I would reraise the min raise on the flop. Top two pair on the flop is the type of hand where you are very unlikely to improve your hand on later streets, and your opponent is most likely behind. You're not folding on the flop, so if he has a set there's nothing you can do. Stick it in! Posted in: Poker Discussion |
