SCOOP29. 54th , 71 left, 18 BB , M 5 , JJ, M-Way, V- 3 bet AI.. Call or not?
The absolute only reason I would flat pre is to induce a 3 bet from behind ( I'd want a pretty aggro table to be doing this) and you get it! But 3b/call or just jamming pre yourself is always going to be good here. ICM is still pretty irrelevant at this stage, just get it in!

Yeh, never folding here.

Equity calculation attempt
One of the best turbo 180 players said any play that yields over 0.5bb is significant, and should always be taken (up until last couple of tables), so I guess that works both ways, in that any play that loses more than 0.5bb's you can be sure is bad.

Equity calculation attempt
I was under the impression that once our ante/ blind is in the middle it is no longer ours. The calculation compares your current stack (i.e. after blinds/ antes are posted) to expected stack when we 3bet. The loss or gain calculated is in addition to the cost of the blind/ ante, so if the result is positive it's better than folding, and if negative it's worse right'

Equity calculation attempt
Looks good except for what tyson pointed out. Assassinato gives a pretty cool formula for working out spots like this in his 3-bet theory video: Expected stack= (opp folding freq)(current stack+ chips in pot) +(opp calling freq)(equity when called)(size of pot when called) So in this example, opp calling frq= calling range%/ opening range%= 18.9/30.6= 0.62 opp folding freq= 1- opp calling freq = 0.38 current stack+ chips in pot= 14381 + 5725 = 20106 size of pot when called= 33237 equity= 0.32 Putting all that together, Expected Stack = (0.38)(20106) + (0.62)(0.32)(33237)= 14234 (-147 ...

65o 18bb bvb (nash equilibrium shove?)
Yeh I like that calling range. Looks solid for a good reg, but the vast majority of players (even many regs) are still calling way tighter for 17-18 bbs (at least at low- mid stakes). Your formula looks good as well. I usually use: (opp fold%)(stack when opp. folds) + (opp call%)(equity% vs opp range)(stack when opp calls and we win) Then subtract your current stack size from the result and see how many chips you gain/ lose. I actually didn’t think it would be as profitable as it is. Anything over 1bb is a pretty significant edge imo. I think you’re right that good players will ...

65o 18bb bvb (nash equilibrium shove?)
Coming up with an average equity vs different calling range scenarios isn't the way to solve this problem. We just need to estimate as likely a calling range as possible, and work against our equity for that one range. Thankfuly Manch has given us a calling range, and like I said earlier villain can shove atc and be +ev given Manch's calling range so 56o is going to be a close shove at worst (considering other factors aswell). @RedIce- 67o and 65o are pretty much the same hand equity-wise vs any feasible calling range @BMasta- 30-35% is way too wide for a typical calling range in this spot, ...

65o 18bb bvb (nash equilibrium shove?)
Nash in this spot is something like 50% shove/ 30% call, and given the calling range you gave earlier, he can actually shove atc and be +cev. The thing is there's a lot more to consider in these spots than just making +cev shoves ( edge/ increasing ICM factors etc), which can often turn a slightly+cev jam into a clear fold. On the other hand, peoples 18-20bb calling ranges are generally way off so the jammer gets away with it alot more than they should, even though this is a spot where most people are really unbalanced. Its also really player dependent. Vs complete nits, raise/fold will ...

AK, itm, witn deep stack on iperstrong action preflop vs egual stack
Yeh I personally prefer flatting in this situation. If you 4 bet, you have to get all in against his 5 bet. He's never folding once he 5 bets and at this point you are getting the odds to get it all in. I just don't like getting it in pre here readless where we have ~40% equity at best vs a supernova reg, and we have a good stack to pick on alot of the weaker players and find better spots. Calling his 3 bet isnt bad with these stack sizes, and you keep alot more hands in his range that you do very well against, but that he would likely fold to your 4-bet.

AK, itm, witn deep stack on iperstrong action preflop vs egual stack
Your 4 bet sizing is huge, and looks purely for value, so when he 5 bets he's going to have it alot. You also only have 15 hands on him making it likely he's going to play pretty straight up in pots like this since you don't have any 3bet/4bet dynamic yet. I quite like flatting the 3bet, since 4bet/folding and 4b/calling or jamming (esp given your sizing and stack sizes) are both gross.

Deep in 888 $35 Friday Challenge line check- 2 pair on dry board vs 2 lags
The river aggressor was the 44/23. With regards to the flop, the check/ call here is something I would never do unless the conditions are right (which is rarely), and I felt they were here (very dry board/ aggro randoms who like to bluff and make plays at pots). If I lead straight away I felt l might fold out a bunch of stuff that can turn into a bluff on later streets, and maybe some stuff that can improve to a worse hand than ours, but they would be willing to stack off with. I hate check raising anything on this flop. Given bucket's tendencies, how can you only put him on hands that beat ...

Re:Wretchy/Whatslogic multi-accounting?
Its not surprising to see yet another good player has resorted to multi accounting. The reality is that with the edge that the best players have over the average player diminishing at a faster rate than ever before, some players are going to start looking for other ways to regain their advantage. I don't doubt that bigger names than wretchy have succumb to this temptation (other than those already caught). So long as it is possible, and there is monetary gain, people will do it.

Why didnt I ban myself from stars and FT sooner!?
So it got to the point where I was playing too much poker, spending too much time trying to get good at Single table SNG's ( which Im still **** at btw), going through a biiiig losing phase and and on top of that I have my 2nd year economics exams just a few months away. It seemed like a good time to use the self ban function so I could no longer play on Full Tilt and Pokerstars until the summer. Naturally, all this effort to suspend my play was futile and within days I had created new accounts on smaller sites such as Betfair poker and Victor Chandler to name a few....and why the hell ...

A question about multi tabling SNG's...
How do you guys who profitably play 8+ tables at a time apply ICM so successfully, when its so dependent on observing opponents closely so as to determine ranges. I've recently moved from playing mostly MTT's to playing SNG's (was hating the variance) and after having a little success on full tilt and party moved to pokerstars and started playing 8 tables at a time at the $16 and $27 levels.....big mistake. After about 500 or 600 games I am down $1k, and this is certainly down to playing too many tables at once (therefore missing +ev pushes, making -ev calls due to the pace of ...
