Bad Beat Philosophy First off, I have no problem with bad beats (BBs). If you can't take 'em, don't play the game, Period. There is not one bad beat story I could possibly hear that I have not experienced at the same level that would surprise me at all. There all boring. It happens live, it happens online, it happens in home games, hell, it happens playing against my family for fun. And, the better the player (i.e. getting it in good most of the time) the more bad beats you'll encounter proportionally...it will never ever even out for you, EVER! So don't expect it. Ask Joseph Hachem. Only ONE ... Posted in: Bad Beats |

Withdrawal processing times/problems Is anyone else experiencing withdrawal problems on all the sites now' I have over $500 from Full Tilt that they have basically told me they do not know when I will get it and over $2k from Doyles Room that they say is over two months for the withdrawal to process. What gives'' Full Tilt has been a joke...long-winded Blah Blah blah on problems with their processor, delays, US deposits problems...this is a simple echeck/ACH deposit and it has been over a month and they STILL cannot tell me when I'll get it. Stars button problem Why has Stars never changed the moving button in tourneys' It goes against every major rule that when you lose a player in between the button, the blinds don't skip players. But on Stars, it's a moving button regardless and I find it odd that they let slide for so long. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Missed bet, but how much & where? I think maybe checking the flop rather than betting and trying to represent on the turn instead. Also, I think if you lead out betting here and get raised, you got to push back hard to represent big(ger). Otherwise what happens is what happened. I still think I missed a bet on both the turn and/or the river and it would be very hard for him call big two-barreling from there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Middle Stages of MTTs I got some great advice from a top pro who told me to play position hard and/or stop calling hands in the middle stages of a tourney and focus on playing hands that I am either coming in raising or re-raising. Regardless of the range of hands you like to play, think of waiting for the right moments to come in aggressively. Calls can slowly suck the life out of you. If you are TAG, then your range is small and position is critical. If you are good playing from all positions or good post-flop, you can open it up a bit. What this did most for me was to stop getting involved in hands that either ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Exposing leaks I'm always trying to improve as I'm sure we all are. I do all the usual stuff to learn - read books/mags, study good players, post hands, discuss plays, keep stats, etc. But, I am looking for good ways to be able to objectively expose playing leaks in my game. Aside from actually getting hands-on coaching, what are the best ways to expose the leaks in your game' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Debate: Best way to maximize a 1k bankroll? Mix in a few lower buy-in rebuy tourneys and play a fairly tight game limiting yourself to a rebuy and an add on. Let the rest of the field build a nice payout for you. The $11R on Stars and the $5.50 are pretty good with some nice return on your money if you can survive the MTTs. But a mix of these and SnGs are the lowest risk/reward for your money. Also, some of the lower buys like $22 at Stars have nice payouts if you can cash a few times. IMO, you need a much bigger bankroll for decent cash games and although you might do Ok at the start, $1000 is not much to play in any decent size ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): earning a living I do not consider myself a pro necessarily, but I make around $3k - $5k per month playing only a few hours a day at $200 - $1000 buy-in NL and a few $50 - $100 SnGs mixed in with a few select MTTs. I never play more than 2 tables at once (i.e. focus) and play solid opportunistic TAG poker. Playing hours on end every day is sure way to tilt at some point and blow your whole bankroll or hard work for previous sessions. My target is $200 - $400 per short session and $500 - $1000 for longer ones, but I mainly play live rather than online. I do not make it a grind and try to make sure that the ... Live satllites SnGs strategy I generally have a pretty good record for cash games and tourneys, have improved my play immensely this year, and pretty happy with my progress to date. However, I have to be missing something when it comes to satellites as my record is horrendous, especially in single-table SnGs where I think I have a recent 0-12 stint. I've had the usual "bad luck" in some very obvious situations (I can recall prob 4-5 of the 12), but it is hard to ignore my terrible record in these going back to the WSOP last year. It seems like the bad players have a weird advantage here and I am amazed at the poor play ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

SB vs. BB in critical SnG with 3 left I'm in a live SnG satellite, $180 buy-in winner take all. We're down to 3 and I'm the short stack, but not by a lot. I'm at $2600, 2nd at $3k and leader at $5400. Blinds 100/200. In the SB vs. leader HU, I get 8/10os and call, he checks. Flop is 9, 7, 3 rb. I check, he checks. Turn is J. I bet out $300 and he comes over the top to $700...what to do now' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): How to get my game back? Platts, Big Steelers fan here...just hope Big ben can still take a hit... *;-) Anyway, I kinda' hate satelliting/SnGs in to bigger tourney buys, but a very good player friend of mine suggested budgeting for these to help manage my BR and hone the game. The ones you do qualify for and the experience you gain in the meantime is pretty valuable. The only caveat here is that satellite qualifying is a bit of a different 'animal' as you know, but I was told if you are not good enough to survive a few qualifiers, you may not be good enough to play in the larger buy-ins anyway. The way I look at it ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Sats. at WSOP Hey bandito, I was just out there and I think I can help you out a bit as it is such a zoo in and around the whole scene...best be prepared for the following... My buddy and I played in several sats and the main thing I can tell you is that is somewhat of a crapshoot as you only start off with 1000 in chips in all games and it is fast and furious. The games range from $125 - $1065 single tables with the winner take all format. And, what you receive is special $500 chips in increments to the top prize to use for buy-ins for the tournaments (i.e. $225 buy-in winner receives 4-$500 chips and ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): KK pre-flop? To fold or not to fold... I agree, you should not fold pre-flop in most any situation. I have been having the same luck, but mostly post-flop when an Ace appears...almost every time I get KK, an Ace hits the flop. But, here's the kicker, only half the time have I been up against another ace and very dependent on reads or continuation bets to get info. I think the key is playing post-flop and listening to your reads that tell you you're beat. I feel your game has elevated to a much higher level when you can correctly lay down pkt. K's when you know you are beat. I'm almost there and have been right on lately, even ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): WSOP Pre-registration question From what I understand, you'll want to register for each event separately with separate wires for each as well.
