cash game ties we should all rally for for the poker sites to adopt "no rake taken during a cash game tie." (Of course this is only a headsup situation and if you are 3 way and 2 people tie it could be adjusted). it won't save us much money really, but it's the principle. Who likes to show atleast 2 pair only to see your opponent has the same hand and then lose $1 each in rake! Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Full Tilt Point system is disappointing..... ***MY OPINION PIECE*** Anyone else realize how sad the point system on Full Tilt is (as compared to Stars)' I did some calculations and figured out that each Full Tilt point is worth $0.004098 or more commonly 2/5 of 1 cent. Each Pokerstars point is valued at $0.0125 or 1.25 cents per point. This can be achieved by calculating the same item for both of the stores (I used the 30gb iPod if bought in stores is $250). This is very striking because each point you earn on Stars is worth more than 3x a point on FullTilt. Not only that, but with VIP levels its even easier to earn on Stars. For ... Re(1): Do dealers get stiffed? think of this.... it takes the same amount of work to deal a 2/4 game as it does a 10000/20000 game. dealers never seem to be happy with their life so they complain about stuff like this alot, but they aren't digging ditches or doing back-breaking construction work. first time i won the local casino tourney the dealer told me the average tip was 20%. Re(2): In response to Rizen's article the point that Rizen has more to lose can also be seen as by gaining popularity it rises his stock. Maybe he'll write a book one day like Phil Hellmuth or license his name to a poker site. I think Rizen is personally gaining more "utility" (economic utility) by doing this even if it causes his field of opponents to become better. If he didn't gain more utility then he wouldn't do so. So if Rizen is writing for pure enjoyment of sharing... I hope that he won't engage in any book deals or poker schools... because thats for profit again. So Rizen, when you get those deals... and I know you will ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): In response to Rizen's article i'm not saying i'm not more advanced and can't adapt. i'm just saying I'd rather play a player with 3 tricks/plays in his bag than a player with 10 tricks in his bag. again, it makes it easier, and will ultimately change the win rate if only fractionally. Re(1): Playing MTT's w/ a friend why would you' great idea if he's a better player than you. bad idea if you feel confident you are better. seems as simple as that to me. That's a purely money aspect though. I don't like to mix friends and poker. I've done it alot, especially when lending, but those friends seemed to avoid me because they couldn't face me when they owed me a large amount of money. And I never even put any pressure to get the money back quickly. I wouldn't recommend your solution at all though. My friend once propsed that to me and I said no Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): In response to Rizen's article it's so hard to determine whether i like it or not, because of course i appreciate reading articles by Rizen and you Grapesfan. I use the tips in my game if i haven't already done so. I understand that most people read the stuff and they dont incorporate it. One of the biggest example is "be aggressive." Then those players sit down and play just the same conservative/ tight game they always do. But it like a magician showing the audience all the secrets. i do appreciate your response grapsfan, it was a good take on the other side. And it is important to hear from the top online pros like ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

In response to Rizen's article do you guys ever feel that all this easily accessed literature just makes it that much harder for all of us to win, or atleast win at the rates we have grown accustomed to' say you're at a table full of fish, I'm sure we all have acted like we were winning because we got lucky. comments like "lucky flop" or "your luck will come around" are some examples. I think it's better off for all of us to allow people to figure out all these "plays/strategies" on their own. and in the meantime reap the benefits. there is no logical reason (from a player standpoint) to actually help other players ... Re(1): Girlfriends and poker I am also a college student, but I live with my girlfriend. Real quickly I learned that I have to play in a different room than the one she is in. She really doesn't bother me when I'm playing in the same room, but any distractions won't help you play your "A" game. On another note... I bought her a Nintendo DS (girls love them by the way) and that seems to keep her busy when I'm playing poker in the same room. Or maybe you can try to start her with 10 bucks and 0.02/0.04 cent stakes. My girlfriend plays the freerolls and tournaments under $3. So far she's won about $50.00 overall. Re(1): Is there a bigger disparity between TLB and Pro Poll than mine? it's obviously a "you vote for me, i'll vote for you kind of thing." you should challenge GambleAB to a headsup match where to the loser has to remove themselves from this site, never to join pocket fives again. and after you spank him then atleast you'll move up one spot!!! Re(4): SNG CHALLENGE agree with timzc1 about the 70ish on each. my breakdown when I get to the money is 44% 3rd, 18% 2nd, and 38% 1st. Gotta think about your profits... 25 for 1st, 15 and then 10. Also, I'd try to play about 4 at once, good number and not too crazy. My friend tried playing 10 at once but ended up sacrificing about 5% win from 40% ITM to 35% ITM. Still profitable, but try not to compromise your play. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(4): POKERSTARS MADE A MISTAKE he means do the .1% add to the .2%. No it is not cumulative. And addressing "theMayor" you would expect a bigger jump for winning 5 in a row then winning the 4th in a row. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): POKERSTARS MADE A MISTAKE No you made a mistake for even caring. I don't care cause I'll win first place so those don't really matter for me. It's not really that important unless these payouts aren't advertised so the way it is now you know what you are buying into. I think it's pretty simple, if you don't like payout schedule don't play. Re(2): HELP! What would you play it? I'm just debating with my friend what's the best options of these two if you did, just use the guideline of this "incorrect" statement for the sake of arguement. I think most could see that you won't exactly be blinded out next hand but if you're playing for 1st, which is what you need to be doing, which option makes you more comfortable as a player and/or do you believe will net you more money in the long run. HELP! What would you play it? OK, late in 180 max player on Pokerstars - 2 tables left - I basically would like to just know that of these two situations, which looks more promising and why' Please disregard the order, I would just like to see which one if you must play one looks like a better opportunity and why' You must play one of them all in or risk being blinded out (for the sake of this arguement). Under 21 - WSOP Questions I'm just curious that if you are under 21 years old what are your options if you win a WSOP seat for the current year (will take place before you're 21) through one of the many poker sites. Will they even let you collect in an upcoming year or could you sell your seat' Thanks for any response. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Do Not I repeat DO NOT play Pokerroom casino! All online table games are rigged, or atleast that's what it seems most people are saying (because I would never be caught dead playing any sort of table games, unless of course I could act as the house). Plus even if they weren't rigged and followed the odds exactly you are still going to be on the losing end of it most the time anyway. And for even for Blackjack, counting cards doesn't work because each hand is independent as if the whole shoe was shuffled, not dealt through. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
