Can someone help me with EV calculations?
I took a major bath in a $5/10 $300 CAP game. I lost 3 coin flips (e.g., AK v. JJ) and 2 flush draws all-in against one other player in the pot. I lost $1500 but PT says my all-in EV was negative $1200. Isn't my EV much better than negative $1200'

Re:Facing raise with overpair
Isn't that the typical raising range for a reg' Many don't even raise flush draws and others would flat call a set' Can someone run it through pokerstove and post the results. I am still trying to figure it out. Thanks.

Facing raise with overpair
You have pocket QQ and the flop is 8s5c3c and villian raises your flop bet 3x. Villian is fairly tight and will only raise with a set, two pair, pair and flush draw, straight and flush draw or A or K high flush draws. Isn't this a fold' Aren't you behind most of the time'

I never feel comfortable shipping AK. If called, you are either way behind e.g. AA or kk or slightly behind i.e. lower pair.

Folding TT/JJ to 4-bet in $.50/1 6-max games
Assuming 100 BB stacks, you raise someone to $9 and he reraises to $27. How many 5-bet all-in with TT/JJ' At these stakes, most are 3 betting with JJ+ and AK, a range you are way behind. If you don't go all-in, wouldn't folding be better to calling, because if you don't hit your set, which is unlikely, you will not like the flop...'

$1/2 6 max cash game--When to 4-bet all-in with AK?
How do you guys decide when to 4 bet all in with AK. Assume $200 buy-in. Do you just look at villians AF and 3 betting range and then decide, e.g. if he is 3 betting 10% shove but if he is only 3 betting 2% fold' Do you have a 4 bet calling HUD stat as well' AK does not have positive equity against a top 4% hand, the type of hand people are calling all-ins with! I seem to loose more money than I win with AK! Help!

Re:$.5/1 6 max--Did I play this too nitty?
don't remember any hands shown but given that I 3 bet and he is so passive, he must be betting the turn with at least 2 pair. I think he would check any other hand. It was probably a little nitty but I have been getting burned a lot with over pairs in 3 bet pots to villians aggression with sets.

Re:Tough Spot in $1/2 6 max--Fold, Call or Raise?
I don't think a relatively passive player at these stakes is raising without a set, two pair or maybe the nut flush draw to a tight 3 better preflop.

$.5/1 6 max--Did I play this too nitty?
Over 250 hands, villian is playing 42/18/1, i.e., loose-passive/passive. Also, if he has a HUD, he should know I don't 3 bet much, i.e. less than 5%. When to 4 Bet...?
How do you guys decide when to 4 bet or call a 4 bet' Do you just look at their 3 betting range and if you are ahead of that range 4 bet shove' for example, if villian 3 bets 10% of the time, and you have AK, which has 58% equity against that range, do you shove' Do you ever consider villian's calling range to the shove as well'

Re:Tough Spot in $1/2 6 max--Fold, Call or Raise?
But given that I 3-bet preflop, which is representing an overpair, I would think that hands like 1010 and A9 are out of his range. He even may play the flush draw more passively in that situation as well, becuase there is no fold equity in the raise. Hence, a set is probably what he has.

Getting 4 Bet with AK-Why is it an automatic call?
I 3 bet with AK routinely. When I am 4 bet/all-in, most would say call, but aren't most villian's 4 betting only with a premium pair or AK, a range I am behind' For example, say you are in a $1/2 6 max and on the button with AK. MP raises to $6 you raise to $18 and he shoves with another $100. Most would say call but what is he really shoving with' Most would only shove with 1010+ or AK where AK has less 40% equity. I don't have the pot odds to call assuming that range right' Why does everyone call this'

Re:Badbeats--When Should I feel like I am running bad?
I looked at the last 20 times I was all-in. I was ahead (e.g., AK v. AQ) in 14 of them, behind in 2 and the rest were coin flips. Yet, I lost all except 3. I lost my bankroll. I understand that if you flip a coin 500 times, close to 250 will be heads but there will be stretches of 10 or more tails in a row before it evens out. How much variance can you expect' What are the odds of this losing streak'

Re:High Stakes Games Going All-in with Draw on Turn
From a strict pot odds perspective, the pot odds are better just to call--going all in makes the pot odds worse right' Generally speaking, don't you want to get all your money in when you are better than 50% to win, and to just call if you have the pot odds but are less than 50% to win' Fold equity is the only thing that justifies the all-in on the turn.

High Stakes Games Going All-in with Draw on Turn
I have been watching the high stakes games. Many of them will go all in with a draw, usually a combo draw, on turn. Why' Is it really more profitable than just to call turn bets' For example, Phil Ivey 3-bet preflop with QQ and Lars called with 5c8c. The flop was 5s4h9c. Ivey bet close to pot and Lars called. The turn was 7c giving Lars a flush draw and a gut shot. Ivey bet $40,000 which was close to pot and Lars went all-in for 200,000 more giving him 18 outs. Given the way the hand was played, it appeared that Ivey had an overpair, thus he was probably going to call and there was little ...
