No MTT in FTOPS? Just checked out the FTOPS sched and noticed there isn't any just plain ol NLHE MTT. Not in all the 45 entries. They're either Multis, Rush or other bullshit. Amazing you can have a 45-tourney series and not have one single-entry NLHE Posted in: Poker Discussion |

The right mental disposition for poker and tilt Definitely able to learn it. I went from bad to almost icy over the course of about 4 years. Read a couple books like "Your Worst Poker Enemy", they definitely helped. Truly understanding the odds helps a bit too. As for when people are smashing things' Eh, its a good release, but like Fox says, that's their "lizard brain" and isnt responsible for calculated, rational decisions Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Can you use a "generic" Step 4 ticket for a specific WCOOP ticket? So, found I had some Step 2 tickets laying around, and turned one of em into a Step 4. Along the way, I noticed Stars has specific Step 3 tourneys for each WCOOP. I just did a generic Step 3 and won this here plain old Step 4 (scuffs feet). LOL, question is, can I use it for anything that costs $215 or am I restricted somehow. (no I dont play satties very often) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:UB Random Card Generator I try to focus on whether or not I made a good decision. However, I have to admit that on Stars, I know that the flop is what I woulda got, so its harder to avoid being results oriented. On FTP, I can just tell myself that it woulda been different if I woulda called/raised etc, so there's no use in agonizing over the board. Whats fun is trying to explain the FTP continuous shuffle system to the newbs. Its funny to see guys saying oh man i folded 96o of a 9996A board and watch them melt down when you tell them it would have flopped different if they had called. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:WHAT ARE THE CHANCES AA IN 3 CONSECUTIVE HANDS Does it matter' It happened. It will happen again. For all the ppl I know that talk about the rig (befhwk) I can only give circumstantial. I was at the boat for the first ever Chicagoland Heartland Poker Tour. I playd 3 SNGs to get into one of the $560 qualifiers, won the 1st one for a $2300 ME entry. In the mean time, playing 1/2 and 2/5, I saw 3 royals in the span of 5 days. Thats what I say to the "rig" ppl, there is incredible hands that happen live too. Re:Need some encouragement I highly recommend playing either 90s or 45s on FTP. For your time frame and amount of time you have to commit, I think these would be ideal. I would lean toward the 90s, even tho they are turbo, you start with 3k chips and can play some speculative hands early. Ramp up the aggression in the midrange, and you get push/fold/bubble play late. It's like an MTT in an hour and a half nutshell. You play a lot of these, you will get experience that can take you thru an MTT later. You make the FT more often in these vs an MTT, and you get valuable experience with the lights on. Re:what do the "pros" or any1 else without health insurance from a job do? I'm a 43 year old that was running without a net since I got laid off in 06. In Sept 09, I had a mini-stroke (blood clot in the speech center of the brain). Total cost for 4 days of hospitalization, meds, and tests was about $30K. Luckily ('') the state that I live in has an "indigent care program" and since I had such a shitty 2009, I could truthfully state that I had no income for the year (was down for 09 at the time). So, now I have been classified as next to homeless, and the med bills were knocked down to about 6K. This put quite a bit of a dent in the bank I had saved up ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Need help improving my tournament performance Also, ignore the tournament average stack size. Pay attention not only to your stack in relation to the blinds, but your stack in relation to the other stacks at the table. As others said, focus more on accumulating in the mid stages, and less on making the money in the mid-late stages. Learn your 3-bet reship spots, and also learn your push/fold so that if you do get down in that <15xBB range, you can know how to put your stack to best use. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Given my read, was this really a bad shove? I don't like it one bit, even considering the read. I'd be pushing a whole lot here, but definitely not the very dregs of my range. Him folding to the guy to your right != him folding to you, SB vs BB. I don't consider this an opening, I consider it an opportunity to ask the dealer for the next hand. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Gambling Question To go off on a totally different tangent .... I just read an article about a couple of different companies (one in US, one in I believe Sweden) that specialize in job placement of people who are on the autism spectrum. It noted that these people are strong in attention to detail, can perform repetitive tasks without becoming bored, and thrive in environments without a lot of people around. Sounds a lot like online poker to me. You might wanna look into this angle for your research. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Is there light at the end of this dark tunnel? I think the main thing you need to do is gain control of your emotions at the table. There are some good books out there like: --Your Worst Poker Enemy --The Poker Mindset and some others that have helped me almost eliminate my tilt. If it weren't for getting that aspect under control, I don't know where I'd be. I've been on a *yearlong* flat streak, I'm down slightly for the year over about 1800 MTTs + 90s. My graph for the last 6 months looks like something out of the movie Flatliners. Am happy to report that I have not damaged any walls or computer equipment or ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Using poker stove You've got the idea. Can't import to it (unless I've been overlooking that feature all along). It can also be useful for looking at postflop situations as well as as preflop. It will let you select the board cards for that. I've used it for hypothetical situations as well as actual ... you can run a hand against various ranges, for instance, to see how well it fares against tight ranges vs loose ranges, etc. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:misclicks I keep a stack of 10 chips on my mouse pad for shuffling/tricks etc. I was pretty deep in some tourney and had a raise and reraise in front of me. I dropped a chip directly on my left mouse button, and of course my cursor was right over the "call" button. Don't remember what I had, but it was crap and I didn't hit my miracle flop. Cost me about 20% of my stack. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:When a donkey makes a terrible call, tell him... I agree with OP. Normally I just go with the "nh" and I spose sometimes they will believe it when their gutty got there. Every now and then if I can throw a few words their way that will actually make them think they made a good play, I will. Whatever solidifies their line of thinking as "good poker", so be it. I look at it as investing in the future. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Emphasis on *TO*, so that means we can't deposit, yah' I mean to those illegal gambling sites, whatever they are. I mean, is Bodog an illegal gamling site' Is Poker Stars' Is the freaking bank gonna tell you' This means we are free to withdrawal at will' If your bank is harshing your wire, can you get on them with this' They have no say on transactions coming our way do they' Posted in: Poker Discussion |
